My earliest holiday memories in the early 1950s are of staying in a railway carriage converted into a caravan and sited on the beach at Pensarn. I think a number of converted carriages existed, does any one remember them?

Pensarn is a lovely place. I have lived here for seven years now. There is a lot to do and it's really fun going to Gwrych Castle walking or on a bike.

My grandparents Harry & Florence Bridge bought Pensarn Post Office around 1949, it was later taken over by my Aunt & Uncle Barbara & Bill, and some years later by my Mum & Dad Mary & Roger Collins. I have many happy memories of working on the candy floss stall on the beach in my school holsand Peter, my brother, delivering telegrams on his bike. We then moved to Lancs in approx 1966. So glad to see the place getting a facelift now.

We used to stay in a bungalow on a road called Lon y Cill when I was a kid, I remember trotting over the railway bridge and playing in the arcade and on the beach, building stones up and knocking them down again. Still try to visit there about once a year now and get all nostalgic as I drive over the bridge and bore my kids about the fun I used to have as a kid. Used to play pitch and putt with my dad on the park in Abergele as well.

As a small child with my parents we holidayed at Roberts camp in Llanddulas and had many happy times. Now in my 30s we have our own caravan in Pensarn. It is our little piece of paradise and we wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

me and my wife have always taken our children to pensarn beach even in the rain and were fortunate enough to live there a while in a flat next to the hardware shop. the kids loved it, i was never off the cycle path that ran from talacre to rhos on sea, i think its the best thing they could have done, only last week my 23 year old daughter said how she enjoyed riding her bike up to rhos from pensarn and we did it every day without fail,we have missed it all though since moving away, but now were going back as we have just got an exchange through the council so in a month i'll be back on the cycle path. the beach fishing is good as well on pensarn beach at night.

On a recent visit to the North Wales Coast I came across a charming little bakery in Towyn: Sandbank Bakery. The cakes were delicious and the bread even nicer. It is a family business run by father & son and well worth a visit!

I lived at "Lindsay" 2 Tennis Road, in 1945, went to Abergele School. Worked at Jones Bros Abergele, then at "Irwins" now Tesco. Loved walking on the Beach and the Sea Wall which went as far as Rhyl. Have many fond memories, which bring tears to my eyes. I loved living there and still miss it even today.

like george i too have many happy memories of towyn pensarn abergele and the whole of the north wales coast really, i have been going there since the 1950s and used to stay in the wooden huts behind the sandbank bakery and used to fetch bread from there every morning. it first opened in 1958 and remember itvery well istill visit wales now around 6 times a year. i stay at nant mill touring site at prestatyn. the owners barbera and keith rowley have become very good friends over the years and always stay there in our tourer when we are up in wales. the site is always spotless and tidy and they will not put up with rowdy people, not like some of the sites up there. so any one who is thinking of going to north wales touring and you are wanting a good site try nant mill touring park on the a 548 just outside prestatyn. the most beutifull place in the british isles.

I went to the beach with my family and had a brilliant day until we went in the water. Fair enough, we went quite far out and the tide was going out, but we didn't realise how far out we were. The next thing I know I'm getting pulled further out. I am a good swimmer, but I had no chance against the waves, until my brother saw me and came to help. We were struggling for 20 - 25 mins with no help. There should be coastguards watching the water, there were kids in there and everything and this could have ended in a bad way. I love this beach and I would go back again, but not go too far out when the tide is going out.

We use to have a caravan in Pensarn, it's such a peaceful place one could just sit by the beach and relax.

Pensarn Beach is fantastic, a bit of a concern for the growing amount of amusements this year though. The Beach Cafe serves excellent food at excellent value. My family, including the extended family pay regular day trips to the beach just to visit a lovely quiet beach and get a good feed afterwards. In fact have just had four nights in Prestatyn and paid Pensarn 2 visits in that time.

Pensarn is a lovely place with a really long and sandy beach. The few shops are very pleasant, and the caravan sites are too. It's a great place to ride your scooter or roller skate down the slopes. The amusements are excellent and some of the cafes' are wonderful. It's really good fun there.
Thu Nov 16 09:43:30 2006

george from abergele
it is a nice place but sometimes its spoilt by visitors who just throw their chip wrappings on the ground instead of walking just a few feet to a wastebin - sometimes i have picked the paper up and put it back in the car, i don't think anybody wants to argue with me
Mon Oct 23 10:33:49 2006

George originally from Towyn
That area of the coast is beautiful and Pensarn has a lot of happy memeories for me, but it has gone very much down market over the years with too many amusements and caravan camps. Stayed at a caravan on Winkups camp (Towyn) recently and it was fine except for all the noise from the club house late, they even lock a gate over the railway bridge at 9.00pm and open it 9.00am so one can't get access to the beach. One place that hasn't changed is the bakery in Sandbank Road in Towyn - delicious cakes particulary their custard slices, recommend dropping in there and then passing on westwards towards Llandudno, Conwy and beyond.

We moved here from Warrington five years ago - a beautiful place to live and central to the coast and countryside alike. Also it is two minutes from the A55 the main route through North Wales.Pensarn beach is a regular outing for us - friendly people, clean cafes and a ten minute walk from our front door!

My family and I adore Abergele, we have a static caravan between Abergele and Llanfair, when my brothers and I were young our grandparents had a caravan on Ffynonnau farm in Abergele and we spent all our time there during weekends and school holidays. Im now in my thirties and also have a caravan there and my 12yr old son is enjoying the same things and places we did. we love it there its beautiful.

Pensarn's a great place to take young kids, loads of penny slot machines to keep them entertained, bingo for mom, while dad's 200 yards away doing a bit of sea fishing - what more can you ask...ALL HAPPY!
