Climbed the north ridge, very tough, have ripped hands, but no pain no gain and the views were very beautiful.

I was happy to see the picture of Cnicht. Brought back memories. I lived in Croesor from 1949 to 1954 and my father worked the Rhosydd and the Croesor quarry, and we often return to walk around Cwm Croesor.

I was born in Llanfrothen and spent many happy days in Croesor with my friends during school holidays. We climbed the Cnicht several times - what a fantastic experience. I live in Liverpool now, but always look forward to going home and taking in the view from the traeth [the Cnicht and the Moelwyns]. This is what the Welsh call hiraeth.

Cnicht and the Moelwyns are favourite hills of mine. Quieter and more peaceful than Snowdon or Ogwen, they nevertheless have a real mountain feel about them. My partner Louise and I recently had a walk up Cwm Croesor. Those steep slopes of Cnicht above the Cwm are very impressive. We didn't see a single human being during the whole walk.

A team of us climbed Cnicht yesterday. Although the weather was definitely interesting, with little to no visibility, and a constant cocoon of rain, we enjoyed the walk immensely. It’s good to be able to see the view we should have been able to appreciate from the top. Still an awesome hike and a fantastic day!

Myself and my trusty companion Charles climbed Cnicht this weekend, an absolutely beautiful mountian and an awesome ascent into the cwm below. A little cloudy but still good views and a fine day in the hills. Recommended highly.

This was an excellent hike my friend Mark and I did this weekend. Unfortunately the very peak was in cloud but still some amazing views on the way up. When we got to the top there was a pad wrapped in plastic with a note saying that the McKenzie family had visited it that day and wanted people to write in it and would be back in the near future to pick it up! If that was you, we signed your book and it was a real smile maker to find this.

Have looked in awe for over 25 years at the pointy mountain as we called it. I and my son and my daughters fiance climbed Cnicht yesterday, it was amazing, as future climbers may well see.

I was happy to see the picture of Cnicht, which always seemed to me in passing through Porthmadog to be a perfect shape. But I was even more delighted to hear via Nikolai Tolstoy the answer to a question which had puzzled me for years - where in Wales did Patick O'Brian make his home? POB sent me a couple of very kind letters in answer to a couple of mine, and even sent me, apparently, a copy of his then new novel, The Yellow Admiral, which owing no doubt to a change of address I never received. He also rang me up about a particular matter (emu eggs) when I was living in Pentrefoelas in 1995.

Cnicht - one of the few mountains not climbed by me and my family until MAY '06.
Well worth the trip from Croesor and down the cwm (9 miles all told) - the 360 degree views were fabulous.

My mother and stepfather, the novelist Patrick O'Brian, lived in Cwm Croesor below the Cnicht. In his journal he wrote: "Monday 15th Oct. 45 we are on top of the Cnicht 4.15". In his novel "Three Bear Witness", set in Cwm Croesor, the Cnicht is called "Y Saeth". I was so happy to see this beautiful panorama.
