Conwy Aquatic Centre and Coarse Fishery Conwy Aquatic Centre and Coarse Fishery

This water garden and aquatic centre is situated in the village of Rowen, near Conwy. Visitors can view the tropical, marine and cold water fish in the extensive aquariums, and the centre is currently involved in a breeding programme for the discus fish, so called as it is flat and round.

There are also opportunities to go coarse fishing in one of the four lakes, or feed the ducks in the purpose-built pond. Admission to the aquatic centre is free.

Opening times: Tuesday to Sunday 7.30am to 5.30pm.
Access: As well as disabled access toilets and car parking provision, there are no steps at the Centre, so getting around in a wheelchair shouldn't be a problem.
Location: Conwy Aquatic Centre and Coarse Fishery, Glyn Isa, Rowen, Conwy, LL32 8TP.
Telephone: 01492 650063

They have taken a lot of silver fish out of the middle lake, so it will be interesting to find out how it's fishing now. It's reported that they are going to introduce perch into the middle lake, so maybe the silver fish will be kept down. Hopefully this means in the next couple of years these perch will become specimens.

i fish the bottom lake the most because you can catch from any peg. also its more secluded and scenic. best baits have to be meat and worm. one tip; fish as close to any natural feature and feed regularly and you'll hvae fun all day . excellent venue for all ages

I have fished this water for about seven years now and I can't remember having a bad day there. There is not another water any here near here that comes even close to it. But I do agree it would be better if you could use a keepnet, you could have some fantastic pictures. My pb is a 14lb common carp.

My best is 11 1/2 and it was a good fighter. if anyone wants any tips, the best lake for big fish and a lot of fish is middle lake and the best way of fishing is in the margins with a bit of spam and u will kill them, trust me.

Brilliant place to fish - all top, middle and bottom pools are well stocked and you are bound to catch.

I really like fishing there because you can catch anything from barbel to roach and catch carp and skimmer, bream, chub, tench. Shame about the ban on keepnets and bollies. It is nice and peaceful and I like how the staff here have done the bottom lake because there are not as many trees and bushes as there use to be.

I highly recommend this venue if you're after a good mixed bag of fish, anyone can bag up on the middle lake. Bad Point: I think keep nets should be allowed on the match lake, because it really messes the swim up when you have to release the fish back into the shoal.
