Coed y Brenin
The new Coed y Brenin Visitor Centre - a roundhouse in the trees - is the focal point of a beautiful forest park.
Coed-y-Brenin covers some 9,000 acres around the valleys of the rivers Mawddach, Eden, Gain and Wen. To the West lie the rugged Rhinog mountains, to the East the remote Rhobell Fawr and to the South the magnificent Cader Idris.
The Volcano Trail tells the story of the local geology.
In the Ordovician Period nearby Rhobell Fawr was an active volcano surrounded by a shallow sea.
Coed y Brenin is home to some of the finest mountain biking in the UK, with waymarked technical trails and a newly opened family route, all radiating from the new visitor centre at Dolgefeilliau.
There are also a number of waymarked all-ability and family walking trails, two running trails, a tiered children's play area, bike hire and a cafe with great views.
Restaurant/cafe open seven days per week, 10am - 4pm Mon to Fri and 9am - 5pm Sat and Sun.

John Williams, Redditch What a truly fabulous place Coed y Brenin is, the ammount of work going on is proving well worth it for any visitor. I travel there as many times as I can and always find something new. Well done, keep up the great work. Thu Sep 4 10:08:17 2008
