Coed Cyrnol Coed Cyrnol

This council-run nature reserve is situated just beyond the Menai suspension bridge, on the banks of the Menai Strait.

Visitors can walk in the woodland and along the Belgian Promenade and rocky shoreline, which is a haven for wader birds and gulls.

It is also possible to reach the historic Church Island in the Strait, and have a great view of the surrounding area from its central vantage point.

Opening times: At all times.
Access: A tarmac ramp from the car park is available, but is quite steep and there are no toilets in the immediate vicinity.
Location: Coed Cyrnol Nature Reserve, Menai Bridge, Anglesey.

I love coming here. My mother grew up in Menai Bridge and every time I revisit this area, it brings back many happy memories of my childhood visits. A few relatives are buried on church island, and it's lovely to walk up to the mount and see the beautiful views. Visit this wonderful part of wales today!

A wonderful walk through the trees and then along the well maintained paths. The church grounds are very thought-provoking with the ancient graveyard and war memorial. Always something to see there, from herons to be heard calling as well as their nests visible in the spring, to canooists riding the rapids. Both bridges visible and very scenic.
