Padarn Country Park
This park is set in 800 acres of countryside, which includes Padarn Lake and surrounding woodland. The lake is home to the arctic char, a fish only present in three of Wales' deepest and coldest lakes.
Canoeing and sailing facilities are available on the lake and for those who are more adventurous, there is the opportunity to go diving in the old Vivian Quarry.
There are country trails and walks through the nature reserve and forest, where you can investigate the unique way in which acorns grow on the sessile oak tree.
The park is also home to the National Slate Museum and Old Quarry Hospital, where you can explore the gruesome world of medicine in the last century.
As well as good access at the Slate Museum, disabled toilets are available. Although there is wheelchair access to a substantial amount of the park, many slopes are naturally steep and assistance may be required.

James McCosh This is a fantastic place. My grandson loves the park and the the slate museum. Where else can you find so much for free? Mon Oct 29 10:27:29 2007
Frank Gibson from Plas Coch Guest House Llanberis What I like most about the park is the mixture of natural woodland, hill views and waterfalls, with the industrial archeology of the slate quarries, buildings and inclined planes. It is a place unique in the beauty of this combination of features, to my mind. Tue Aug 17 16:39:34 2004
