We're making a television series for BBC Wales about old Welsh houses, presented by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, and I'm keen to hear from people who have stories about Plas Glynllifon when it was a 'working' family home. You or your ancestors may have worked there or lived locally. Stories of the fire which destroyed the mansion in 1836 may have passed down through your family. It was the estate workers and locals attending a chapel service who managed to rescue most of the furniture and fine art from the burning building. Most importantly I'm looking for old black and white photographs of the mansion, estate workers etc. Anyone who has photos of the Investiture dinner held there in 1969 please also get in touch! Please contact me by email: aroberts@mentorn.tv or by phone: 01766 523522 Thank you.

Myself and my childen have visited Glynllifon many times. It is a place for all seasons, but especially beautiful in Spring - through to early Summer, with all the blossoming trees and rhododendrons. The mansion has only recently been renovated and opened up as a hotel. As yet the rooms are not ready, but you can go in for lunch, afternoon teas and morning coffee. I visited on Saturday and went into the mansion for the first time. It's as beautiful inside as it is outside. You go through the corridors, past the drawing room and into the main hall, where the grand staircase is. The floors are marble tiles, which would appear to be the original ones as seen in old pictures of the building and are beautiful. There's a wonderful fireplace there too. The staircase is gorgeous. There are the central stairs, which lead up to a small mid landing, and stairs sweep up on either side of this. You can just picture the ladies of the house sweeping down to dinner in their evening attire, or in their summer dresses to go out onto the lawns on a beautiful day. The grounds and park are magnificent. There's the little grove that was built for the children of the family, near the river, little stone houses built into the rocks, so pretty. There's the outdoor ampitheatre, on Yew Tree Island, the old hermitage all in splendid surroundings. If you get the chance you should go.

Yes, the ghosts are still very much in evidence at this site! I have been involved with the restoration project at the mansion and can quite confidently state that there are still a number of unusual and supernatural phenomenons going on there. In particular, around the area of the old kitchens and smoke house! Very very weird and spooky.I spent many a cold winters day alone down in the basements and lower reaches of the property. Thanks to Gwillam though, he looked after me very well on all my visits.

Beautiful grounds for our first visit but disappointed that the cafe and most of the shops were closed on a Saturday at the end of April. Thought it would be busy. The mansion appears to be undergoing restoration and may be turned into a hotel according to the staff in the shop.

I went to Glynllifon for 2 consecutive years with school as welsh learners about 25 years ago. I remember it being a beautiful place, we stayed in dormitories in the mansion. I have very happy memories of my time there.

Happy days playing in the Gwynedd Youth Orchestra. Brought back lots of excellent memories. Well worth a visit. I wonder if the snooker table is still in the coach house.

I was brought up in N Wales - we stayed here for a week as a young school party. An amazing experience, but I was really scared by the ghosts on the old servants stairs! Is the mansion open for visits nowadays or is it just the grounds? I would love to come and re-visit. Did anyone else stay here or see the ghosts?

I have so many memories of this lovely place. I can remember helping to build the cross country course in the big field at the top of the woods, and also the time we held a one day event there, which was the first one ever. When I get a chance I will be going back to visit, as I would love to see how the stable yard looks now.
