Bodnant Garden Bodnant Garden

A five-part series about Bodnant Garden (first shown on BBC2 Wales) starts on BBC2 on Monday, 24 August, 2009.

Bodnant Garden stretches over 80 acres of the Conwy Valley. Spring is the best time to see the magnolias and camellias in bloom, with the famous rhododendrons at their best in early summer.

The most popular attraction of the garden is the laburnum arch, which is in full flower from late May to late June, whilst the many trees bear fruit and berries during the autumn time.

The garden is split into two sections - the more formal lawns and borders of the upper part, and the wild, natural flora and trees of The Dell. The latter area sweeps steeply down to the valley, following the course of a waterfall which flows down into the Conwy River.

The Antiques Roadshow was filmed at Bodnant on 11 September, 2008.

Opening times: From March 12 to November 6, 10am to 5pm.
Access: Parking spaces and a toilet for disabled visitors are provided in the car park which is open at all times. There's also a disabled toilet attached to the tearoom and ramps into the tearoom, garden and the nursery. There are wheelchairs available for use in the garden (not bookable), as are the Braille guidebooks. The garden is very steep in places and has many steps, but a route is marked on the map in the guidebook which helps visitors to avoid these. The necessary companion of a disabled visitor is admitted free of charge.
Location: Tal y Cafn, Colwyn Bay, Conwy, LL28 5RE.

This garden is stunning! Not what I expected at all. It's really pretty and with the river Hiraethlyn running along the bottom of the garden it creates a whole different atmosphere from the terreces beneth the house. This is definitely a place I will be visiting again.

My wife and I visited Bodnant Gardens a couple of weeks ago. It's the most relaxing and stunning gardens that we have ever been to. May we take this opportunity to congratulate the garden staff for all their hard work in maintaining these wonderful gardens, for everyone to enjoy. Well done!!

Whilst visiting Llandudno in May, my wife and I had a really wonderful time at Bodnant. What a beautiful place, a whole multitude of colours at £6 entrance fee - a treat. We can't wait to go again.

I thought Bodnant Gardens was one of the most beautiful places I have been to! Never before have I been anywhere so relaxing and peaceful. A credit to the staff who work there! (and well worth the entrance fee!)

What has happened to the reduced admission charge for O.A.P. Maybe you would get even more visitors, that couldn't be a bad thing.

If you become a member of the National Trust you will get free admission to this and many other wonderful places. I have joined with my husband, and am so glad as I spent the afternoon there on my last birthday sitting on the green beside the pool at the Pin Mill. So peaceful. And we can picnic at Penrhyn Castle too whenever we want!
