I recently joined a sea kayaking course on Anglesey with Adventure Elements. We paddled around Rhoscolyn headland and saw plenty of seals and caves to explore, a great day out.

I have recently started sea kayaking at the age of 58 and regret that I left it so long. What a great pastime.Along with a group of friends I'm in the process of building a website for Orme Paddlers with a view to inviting like-minded people to come and join us on our paddles on the various waterways of North Wales.

I totally agree with James, the coastline of North Wales, for sea kayaking is hard to beat. What with the Lleyn Peninsular and the Isle of Anglesey, there is something for everyone. Amazing and secluded beaches, islands, variety of wildlife, sheltered bays and headlands with exciting currents. Coastal Spirit run course at all levels, for individuals, groups and families, have good quality kit and experienced, well qualified coaches.

North Wales has a fantastic range of sea kayaking trips, with everything for beginners and advanced paddlers alike. A trip around the Great Orme looking at the ancient mines or a paddle round Puffin Island watching the seals. Adventure Elements in Menai Bridge run courses to get you started.

I have just bought two kayaks on ebay, have virtually no kayaking experience, don't want to white water, just cruise lakes and rivers but don't know where to go, can anyone help, don't mind rivers but worried about suddenly being swept down a massive waterfall!

Jim, I took up kayaking when I was 44. I'm 6ft 4ins and was then getting on for 17 stone. I'm about 15 stone now thanks to kayaking. I'm out every weekend on the Thames and never regret taking up this sport. It's true you have to be careful about what kayak you choose. You might try the Perception Acadia - it takes a larger paddler and is a forgiving beginner's recreational kayak. You might also try a sit-on-top kayak. These are more forgiving/easier to learn in and will accommodate larger paddlers. For instance the Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 is very roomy and would carry you and any gear comfortably.

I am 44 years, bored and looking for things to do. Thinking of learning kayaking. But I am also 6ft3 and 17 and a half stone. Too large?

Good to see lots of positive feedback for the sport.Kayaking is a great way to keep fit and see the coutryside and coast. However in England and Wales we are severely restricted by old fashioned laws that mean kayakers/canoeists can't paddle rivers without permission from all of the people who own the sections of river bank (known as riperian land owners) that they will pass.I believe that no-one owns the right to navigate Britain's waterways and am fighting for our right to roam inland rivers.

I did Canolfan Tryweryn last weekend and I loved it! It was the first trip I've made with my kayak club and cause i'm only 15 my instructor wasn't sure if we should do the graveyard and all, but we did...and it was awesome. Anyhow, everyone should give kayaking a try, it is the best sport ever.
