Charlie Brooks aka Janine Butcher Played the scheming Janine Butcher in Eastenders.

Born:
3 MAY 1981
Place of Birth:
London
School:
Tower, House, primary, school, Barmouth, Ravens, Court, theatre, school, London
Trivia:
She was christened Charlene.
Biography:
Charlie Brooks has made the part of calculating, manipulative Janine Butcher in Eastenders her own.

She moved with her mother and brother to Barmouth as a baby, and always showed an interest in acting. She took part in many school productions before moving to London to attend theatre school.

Charlie has had parts in many TV shows, including London's Burning, The Bill and Jonathan Creek. But it is for The Albert Square vixen Janine Butcher, then Evans after her brief marriage to Barry, that she's most famous.

She was told that she had landed the part of Janine - the third actress to play her - on her 18th birthday and, four years and a blonde hair-do later, Janine is still creating havoc amongst the inhabitants of Walford - though not for much longer!

Charlie, who's also made a fitness DVD, lives in a west London flat - her mum, sister and brother live downstairs. She and partner Tony Truman have a daughter called Kiki.

She made her acting comeback in the BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens' Bleak House, as well as other TV productions, and is expected to return to Eastenders full-time in Autumn 2008.
