First day at 'big school'

classroom

Last updated: 20 December 2007

Children rushing,
Teachers lecturing,
Me, well I was lost.

The big white building of the school
Looking down at me,
An eleven year old girl with no idea where to go.
Minutes felt like hours.
Nobody to talk to or laugh and crack a joke.
Just me and the big white building!

The bell. Oh no! Panic! Panic!
Just remember:
Sir not Mr,
Miss not Mrs.
Sit down, no stand up!
Bonjour! Bore da! Hello!
Ermm, Ermm
HELP!

First lesson.
Signing books, calling your name.
Teachers setting you up to make friends!
Everything's so different.
Oh no!
What if I make a mistake?
What if I get into trouble?
On my FIRST day!

Tick! Tock! Tick!
BRRRRRRR!
The home bell.
Home, it seems so far away.
My family,
I wonder what kind of a day they had.
As different as mine?
I bet they weren't so nervous as me!
