The English Congregational Church, Brymbo, opened on 30 March 1908 and this commemorative key was presented to parishioner Mrs GF Harrison.
The communion chalice was also presented to Mrs Harrison. The inscription reads:
Presented to Mrs. Harrison June 1912
ENG,CON.CHURCH.BRYMBO.
Mrs Harrison's grandson, Derick George Harrison, who left the region in the 1960s and now lives in Canada and Florida, kindly sent in the photos.
From his family's research of their genealogy they found that Edward Harrison (Derick's great grandfather) (1824-1906) purchased the Plough Inn, Llandegla, on April 6 1854 for £319 9s 7d.
George Fredrick Harrison (Derick's grandfather) (1855-1902) and who married Ann Roberts (1860-1940), owned the Cambrian grocery store in Brymbo.
Derick's parents moved over the border to Shropshire and Derick went on to marry Doris Davies in 1949 before eventually moving abroad.

The Edward Roberts who presented the trophy to John Lloyd would have been my great grandfather - he lived at Bryncoch, Brymbo and was a local county councillor, JP and minister at Engedi Presbyterian chapel. His mother was the daughter of the George & Dragon Inn at Brymbo.

My great grandfather John Lloyd was presented with a china trophy with the inscription "Presented by Edward Roberts to John Lloyd Delegate to Gatwen Lodge North Wales Miners Association Southsea 1903". I cannot find any information about the Gatwen Mine near Wrexham. Does anyone have any information that they could share with me? Thank you.

For Jackie from Southsea. You can gain access to the Brymbo Heritage Group on the net. Maybe they could help you or you could perhaps visit the Wrexham museum where they store the local archives. Also, Bwlchgwyn Ancestry can be very helpful again accessing via the net.

We have recently moved into a lovely old house built in 1815 off Higher Berse Road. It was part of the Bersham estate. Is there a history group locally? I would love to discover more. A lady (who had been born here) came with photos of the house taken when Polish prisoners of war lived in the barns in the forties, but unfortunately I didn't meet her. Please let me know where I can start to discover the history of this house.

I am researching another HARRISON branch from Wrexham. William, born ca 1806, was a butcher. In 1851 he lived in Abbot Road and by 1861 had moved to Harrison's Court!
What a co-incidence. I wonder how the street got its name!

I am looking for information on the Harisson Family who lived at Bryn Mally Farm, Brymbo in the 1800s. My great grandmother stemmed from them - Winifred Harrison who married Robert Smallwood in the 1920s. Does anybody have any connections with this family?

Pleased to know that all our hard work hasn't gone to waste. Well done! I have a website but haven't got around to putting my information on it yet. However when I have more family history information I will let you know.
