Start: Start in Moel Arthur car park GR 147657. Take the A541 from Mold to Denbigh. Take the minor road on the left after the Cilcain turn. The car park is 2 miles along this road. From the car park go over the stile next to the cattlegrid and follow the path down the hill.

Points of interest: Walk away from the Offa's Dyke Path down into the Vale of Clwyd where a green track will take you by the ruins of Tyn y Pistyll, a string of humble, single storey, thatched farmsteads.

Llangynhafal is worth a detour. William Wordsworth stayed here at Plas yn Llan with his friend Robert Jones. The old road here offers a steep but pleasant sheltered shortcut up to the Offa's Dyke Path.

Walk on towards the Offa's Dyke Path. Part of this route follows a cycle route so be aware of cyclists here. Walk north along the Offa's Dyke Path on a heather ridge. Moel Dywyll has wonderful views north to Penycloddiau, one of the largest hillforts in Wales and south to the Jubilee Tower on Moel Famau. As you walk back down to the car park you'll see Moel Arthur with its neat rampart rounded summit.

More info: This walk is part of a series exploring the Offa's Dyke Path and is published with permission from Denbighshire Countryside Service which has this and other guides to walks to download on its website: www.denbighshire.gov.uk
