Start: Begin at Moel Fenlli car park GR 162605. Follow the brown signs for Moel Famau Country Park off the A494 Mold - Ruthin Road. Fenlli car park is on the left at the top. Walk out of the car park, cross the road and down from the corner of Iron Gate Car Park.
Points of interest: The walk takes you down through the lovely Woodland Trust Coed Ceunant Estate and towards Llanbedr. A detour can be made to the Griffin Inn for lunch.
The village lies on an old turnpike road. St Peter's Church is an interesting piece of Victorian exuberance. It replaced a church that remains in ruins next to Llanbedr Hall.
The path continues by small woodlands and crosses the busy A494 several times until climbing up grassy slopes towards Moel Fenlli. Make your way along the Offa's Dyke Path around Fenlli's peaceful western side and then up onto the top.
Legend suggests that the Dark Age (500-900AD) tyrant Benlli was king of this windswept place. His cruel antics attracted the attentions of St Garmon who is said to have banished him by calling down a fire from heaven.
