Start: Begin at Vallé Crucis Abbey car park which is sign-posted out of Llangollen. The first part of the walk takes you on a track through the caravan park and around the Abbey enclosure. Walk over a footbridge, up some steps and turn left.
Points of interest: Founded in 1201 by the Princes of Northern Powys, Valle Crucis Abbey made an enormous impact on the social and economic fabric of the Vale of Llangollen.
As the walk circles Fron Fawr, head south across pastures with views of the impressive crags from Craig Arthur to Creigiau Eglwyseg.
Link up with the Offa's Dyke Path before venturing into Dinbren wood, alive with the sound of pheasant.
The apparently Victorian house, Bryn Hyfryd, hides a late 15th century dwelling connected to an even older barn with original timbers and masonry in-fill from the Abbey after the Dissolution of the Monastries.
The walk ends with a view of the Abbey backed by Velvet Hill and Llantysilio Mountain.
