Buckley Heritage Trail

Buckley Mountain Colliery - you can still see old chimneys and sites of tramlines along the walk

Last updated: 14 February 2008

Take a walk around the fringes of Buckley town centre in Flintshire. Stroll through fields, along pathways and quiet roads and see glimpses of the town's past...

Distance: 3 miles / 5km
Time: Allow 1hr 30min
Advice: A circular walk. Hilly in parts but generally easy going.
Starting point: Globe Way, off Liverpool Road, Buckley, Flintshire. Then follow the signs!
How to get there: Map

In detail: Follow the clearly marked red and white Flintshire Countryside Service way markers. By looking at the landscape along the trail you will be able to see how it has been shaped by the mining of clay and coal over the centuries. Sculptures along the route help to paint a picture about what went on at that particular spot in times past. Look out for:

1. Globe Pool
2. Back Lane
3. Cross Tree Opencast
4. Siltation Lagoons
5. Standard Clay Hole
6. Drury Clay Hole
7. Lane End Brickworks
8. Knowle Hill
9. Mount Pools
10. Etna Park
