Hospital Radio
Volunteers on Radio Maelor can be aged from 18 years upwards. Members and presenters come from all walks of life. Some of the members see Hospital Radio as a stepping stone and a way of gaining experience for other media challenges in the future, indeed something to add to the CV. Others see Radio Maelor as a way of supporting the hospital, putting something back as they say, and the goal is to play some music to brighten the day of patients in the hospital. From time to time, celebrities visit Radio Maelor. The radio station has received a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Wrexham and indeed Father Christmas made a call in December! If you are a lover of music and you wish to try your hand at presenting a radio programme then details of how to make contact area available from AVOW in Wrexham. Training is given.

Pete from Borras
Braving the cold and huddled tight, Blustery winds that gust all night, Icy blasts that chill the bone, As they walk the streets alone. Most walk past and look away from the doorway where they lay, "get a job" or "get a home" no one cares why they're alone, surely they would never choose to spend their life in public loos, and cold shop doorways with no food, and beg for scraps without being rude, there must be sorrow in their lives that makes them end up in these dives, it may be drugs or child abuse whatever the cause it's no excuse to walk on by and ignore their plight, to them there is no tunnel end in sight, so spare a coin to help them eat or get some shoes to warm their feet, look to the sky and feel the snow, at least you have a place to go where fires warm and food is plenty, yet they stay cold their stomachs empty, most people say the fault is theirs, they had a chance they have no cares they walked away from life and work and responsibilities they shirk, but do not judge or condemn them you do not know from where they stem, some leaves fall long ways from the tree, not all are lucky as you and me, when cold wind blows and all's not fair, just give a thought to those out there, under bridges huddled tight, barely sheltered from the night.

Ray Evans, Gwyddelwern
Corwen First Responders under the supervision of a local technician. Residents have turned out to form a Corwen based Community First Responder Scheme. The team will be commencing training under the watchful eye of Ray Evans, of Gwyddelwern. Volunteers will be given the skills to begin basic life-saving treatment before an ambulance reaches the scene of an emergency, but they will not replace existing ambulance crews. They will also be taught how to recognise cardiac conditions, carry out cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and how to use a defibrillator. If you think you can make a difference for the community of Corwen and the surrounding area by volunteering as a Community First Responder, contact our website - corwenfirstresponders.com
