William Hancock set up a brickyard on Lane End, Church Road, Buckley, around 1792 and, as such, local historians believe it was probably the oldest brickyard in Flintshire. The original chimneys and buildings have long since gone but the last chimney was pulled down in November 2004, a year after the closure of the last brickworks on the site.
