It started with a poem

Overton yew trees It is said that in the late 18th century an anonymous scribe wrote the following rhyme which first listed the Seven Wonders of Wales...

Pistyll Rhaeadr and Wrexham steeple,
Snowdon's mountain without its people,
Overton yew trees, St Winefride's Well,
Llangollen Bridge and Gresford bells

Little more is known except to say that all are within North Wales and that not everyone agrees that these represent Wales' most impressive landmarks.
