Abandoned

By Rashi Tiwary

Ma, you went away,
Left me alone with my childish fears,
And didn't even think how I would stop my tears
That have now stopped falling in vain.

All that's left of you is a photograph,
The one where you and me
Smiled at the camera once upon a time,
A time when everything seemed right,
All because you were there.

But one day I'll make all your dreams come true,
And then I'll join you amidst the stars,
Which are never-ending, just like your presence.
And finally,
Finally I'll have accomplished,
All that you ever wanted me to do.

Unreal

I was so elated,
I thought I had finally found you at last,
But I never realised
It was only a murky shadow
Which was deliberately put there,
To fill me with exuberance
And the next minute, sadness.

The memories that I had,
Extruded in my brain
Have been opened up again.
And tears well up in my eyes.
For, that indelible mark you left on my life,
Can never fade away.

However hard I try,
These wounds won't heal;
So come back Ma,
To your little girl who loves you
And can't live without you.
