Wayne Keefe won an award in the Welsh Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) 2008 Awards for his work in running the Communities First FC team in Plas Madoc. Just before Christmas, Wayne came third in the BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Hero competition.
