Scroll through the slideshow above to view a close-up of this first photograph which is taken from the family album of Jane Else whose great uncle ran the former tobacconist on High Street, next to the Royal Oak, and which can be seen in the first photograph.
According to Jane, Fred Scotcher took over the tobacconist and fancy goods shop when his father, Frederick Ludwig Scotcher, died in 1898. The people on the balcony of the Royal Oak and above the shop are family and friends and named from left to right as:
Mrs Barber, Billy, Lloyd Hughes, Peggy, Harry Edwards, Mrs Davies, her father, Clarice, Mr Davies, Fred Scotcher (standing), Mary, Florence Scotcher, Gertie, Kitty Cartwright (Jane's mother), Neville Jones, Corrie Jones (partly hidden by a flag), Mr and Mrs Jones and Elsie.
Jane said her mother recorded in the album that someone dressed up as a cat in the Dodman's boot and had amused the crowd by its antics. Until recently, the Dodman name was still a feature in the town as the family ran a long-established shoe shop.
Other photos in this collection show a view of the Wynnstay Hotel at the top of the High Street and different views of floats in the procession, including an aeroplane atop a vehicle! There is also a close-up of the carnival King & Queen and this is the only photo in the collection that carries the name of the photographer, Dale Rider, Wrexham.
