Flint's first rose queen was Mary Cameron who was crowned in May 1926, according to Alex Roberts who submitted this photo. The jester in the photo was Viv Ashton and in the background is textiles company Courtaulds' former Aber Works. Alex says the event happened on the site of the old Flint football ground which is now the big car park near to McDonalds fast food restaurant in town. Alex said the family of the Rose Queen lived at the Liverpool Arms pub which was also known as the Long Pull on account of the distance between the cellar and the bar and how a pint was pulled.
