Some of these photos were taken by contributors but the majority were taken during a filmshoot - for a BBC programme about dangerous jobs - when following the work of engineers checking the nearby pylons and overhead power lines coming from Connah's Quay Power Station. White elephant is an accurate description at the moment. Except it's missing a TRUNK (road) from Connah's Quay end of the bridge to join up to the A55, possibly somewhere in the region of Northop, or is this too obvious a sensible alternative to the unwanted proposed (and aborted?) road-widening at Aston Hill?

As I told the Flintshire Director of Transportation, the Flintshire bridge is the right colour-white elephants should be white'

Impressive, I'll have to get back to Wales one day, and look up a few friends, and of course try the New bridge. Is this near Edmunds hollow? I can't quite place where it starts, and where it ends. Reminds me of duck shooting in the winter of 1963 on the marshes, Hayden.

The HTTP to get into the Flintshire Bridge is sites/flint_town/.Flintshire Bridge is some 4.5 miles away from Flint, the Flintshire Bridge comes within the boundary of Connah's Quay, not Flint.

I was watching the show and I didn't catch the name of the pylon college that those people were at. Does anyone know the name as I was wishing to enroll in one! Any help will do.

Great photos - could this not be the 'Welcome to Wales' art project instead of the eyesore they are proposing for the A550 in Queensferry/Garden City? http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/PostcardtoWales/

I remember when the Flinshire Bridge was built and it was built to take the strain of the traffic on the Chester road. Has it worked? No! What a joke, but it made it easy to get to work or to Wirral. Deeside could have done with improvements to the roads and public transports.

Some very good photos even though I think the bridge is not the best thing! Brave engineers must have a great head for heights.

These are such fantastic pictures. Top marks to the photographers for such wonderful views. Last year, I travelled across the bridge for the first time and remembered the days when I used to Cycle over the original bridge in the '50s.

I've been watching the guys up the power lines recently, as their 'base' is in Corus Shotton. I can definitely say brave bunch of guys. No way would you get me up there!
