Football pyramid

Wrexham FC's Hector Sam

Last updated: 24 July 2008

The set up for Welsh football is widely regarded as looking like a pyramid, according to the FAW.

The Welsh Premier is the top league in Wales with teams like Rhyl FC and Connah's Quay Nomads.

Beneath this is Cymru Alliance and below that tier is the Welsh Alliance which is on a par with Welsh National (Wrexham Area) League.

Then there are further Sunday leagues like the Clwyd League plus junior leagues.

It does without saying that the main team in the region is Wrexham FC.
