Watch a 17 minute film, Locos for the Job, made by John Summers - Shotton Steelworks - as it was known before the nationalisation of the steel industry in 1967.
It shows the old furnance - now the site of Deeside Industrial Estate - and workers arriving on-site at a busy bus depot at the works entrance as well as the articulated lorries that were once used to ferry staff around the plant. The silent film mainly focusses on the 30-plus engines that served the works.
The original film was recorded on 16mm cine film and it was found in Corus's Archives at Shotton Works. It was converted by BBC Wales and digitised for use online here courtesy of Corus.
