Worth visiting just to take in the amazing views from the summit cairn, including
Pen y Cloddiau to the north. Moel Arthur is a prominent hilltop in Nannerch, crowned by a circular fort with a well defined entrance on the east side.
Note that the ramparts here turn inwards and probably included a pair of guard chambers. The defences are very prominent, with multiple steep banks and ditches encircling the hilltop. Within the interior, particularly close to the eastern entrance, are platforms cut into the slope which were presumably the site of timber roundhouses.
Directions: Take A525 towards Ruthin from Denbigh. At the southern bypass roundabout, take the minor road signposted Llangwyfan and Llandyrnog. After 4.3km, go straight ahead at roundabout past a public house, then turn left at the crossroads 0.8km further on. The narrow road ascends the Clwydian range with forestry on the left. After 3.9km, park on the left at the end of the forestry. Take the signposted Offa's Dyke path on the opposite side of the road to the top of the hill. The climb is steep.
