Hi, I was the first DJ at the Tiv when it was in its hey day with Roy, Alex, Danny. Top groups nearly every week. Best years by far. Many famous names to mention. Best years of my life 1969 to early 70s. Many stories to tell -don't sell!

I agree with most here that the 80s was certainly a great time for the Tiv. It was in 1987 that I met my wife there, the same year I nearly died laughing at Cubby Brown when he appeared for the first time. For 'old times sake' I re-visited it lately with some old school mates but it was nowhere near the same - what a real pity. From a very early age I was brought up hearing stories from my Dad of how he watched Roy Rogers films at the Tiv when he was a kid, so for me the place has always been a central part of Buckley. Whatever the fate of the place I am very grateful for the memories.

Had some great times in the TIV'. Seen some great bands there in the '80s & '90s. Anyone remember when the infamous MACC LADS played there? What a great night that was!

I worked there in the '90s when Howard owned it and Pete was DJ. Had some great times all round especially when Voulez ez Vou etc were there. Some great tribute bands. Met the father of my kids there. and had great times then and after. Take the Tiv and you take the heart of Buckley especially from the younger generation who have grown up with the Tiv and listened to stories off their parents. THE TIVOLI FOR EVA. My daughter goes to the Tiv now and I love to hear stories off her just like when I was young.

My mum and dad used to go to the Tiv. THAT IS WHERE THEY MET. I have always gone there. I love all my mates in Buckley and it is a great place to meet up. Few ideas for change for us young ones. But HEY, still a great night with friends. Listen to the LOCALS.

I worked the door at the Tiv in 1970-71 when Roy and Alex were the managers. Dawn tried to charge Freddy Garrity (Freddy and the Dreamers) to get in the Tiv one night (when he was doing a gig there) because she didn't recognise him without his glasses on. Sorry Dawn.

The Tiv was magic in the '80s. Then its management in the late '80s and '90s put the odd top band on but most were crap. The latest management by the sound of things are property developers and into restaurants, and don't have a clue how to run a club. I guess that in the future the Tiv may be apartments as they are trying to buy land behind. If only we could turn back the clock to the '80s.

The best years were 1995-97, Monday nights were banging. Since then the atmosphere has died due to new management/staging never been same since

Pre "the bloke with the quiff", Marc Jones was the regular Weds night DJ (long blonde hair, tight jeans, hightop trainers). He's still DJing and you could contact him on Facebook.

Oh don't let them close the Tiv, what a lot of happy times I had there in the 70s and 80s. Saw a few managers come and go and some fab groups, even met Kevin Keegan! Met my hubby there and a few ex boyfriends too! Bring back the old times. 8pm Black Lion, Black Horse then the Tiv. Great nights.

We went every Saturday & most Wednesdays from 1993-1996 (when it was school hols!). We have so many ace memories & the tunes were fab! The Oasis gig was awesome. 1st time we went we were 15 & felt so cool. One small bottle of 20-20 & 10 embassy & we danced til our Addidas gazelles could take no more. Now were live all over the UK, some are doctors, some are parents, but we often reminisce about the Tiv.

If only we could turn back the clock, Friday nights on the town in Buckley, a game of snooker in the Top Club and then down to the Tiv, you could dance and listen to music then... I know I'm an old get. I was working on the door the night Slade came to town, two articulated lorries full of equipment. What a noise! I have never heard a noise like they generated. It shook the whole building. If there is a ghost then he would have been awake that night. My job that night was in the dressing room with Slade keeping the crazy girls out. How important I felt. The groups Quo, Mud, Thin Lizzie, Frank Carson was hilarious. A good too many brilliant memories to remember, but one thing I do remember were the great times we had with great friends. I would not have missed it for the world. Love to hear from anyone who has same memories or who may recognise me from my rantings

I agree that it seems the best times were the '80s in the Tiv. Since then it's gone down hill with the odd good night in the '90s. The present look and management have not helped it and will in the end have killed it if it's not bought and steered in a new direction by management! If not, guess it will be flats, housing or shops.

What a great loss if the Tiv closes and ceases to be a venue. The present owners in my opinion have caused the demise. The Tiv used to be so good, probably the '80s were the best when it was managed well, the '90s were OK but it was good the odd nite when the odd big band went there. When they sold up Luminar Liesure bought it and tried running it but failed and their management bought parts of their company out including The Tiv, and called themselves Candu Leisure. A property company are now trying to sell it. Let's hope a professional team buy the Tiv and bring it back to life. Let's hope it's not more flats or housing.

Over 25s were the best nights ever, Fridays have never been the same since they stopped it. If they brought back the Friday over 25s, business would boom. The old Tiv was the best ever. Please don't close it, sell it or demolish it as it is fab. Bring back the '70s and '80s at the Tiv.

The Tiv was superb on Weds nights in the early to late 90s. Top, the real people, adorable, Revolver to Bluetones, Travis, Super Furries etc all played there. And yes I remember Baby Milk Plant. Played there regularly. Will be there at Theatr Clwyd.

Cross Keys pool team
The Cross Keys has finally got a pool team back playing there on Tuesday nights. What a night we had. First game of the season and we get our lovely neighbours The Shamrock. They must have thought easy game this as they all grinned in our direction. That must have been Alex Ferguson's thoughts as his side drew Coventry, who beat Man U 3 - 1 knocking them out of the cup. Last night's game was in the Princess of Wales Cup and the Keys won 3-1. They were all good sports and we all had a good laugh together at the end. We can't forget Julie Troy the manager of the Keys who put on a magnificent buffet for both sides. Oh, and face played terrible!

One of the best nights I ever had at the Tiv was when Slade was there. They have had loads of groups. The Real Thing was there, Earth, Wind and Fire even Chubby Brown has been there twice. Frank Carson and Slade were just past their best when they played the Tiv. They were very good and they were police escorted out of Buckley.

I used to go to Trends as it was renamed in the 80s after problems it had at the time i was told. I used to go most nights and was friendly with the staff there, it was owned by Phil Taren and managed by Brian D, then Dave T, it was a good place and well run. Dave changed its name back to the Tiv, when Dolphins company bought it and gave it a makeover, it had a brill over 25s night on Fridays and Dave had good bands like The Gutter Band and live appearances from the soaps, even Chubby Brown, and live Rock on Thursdays, the nights were all different and brill. Unfortunately Dave T left about Nov 88, and Howard C took over, it lost the magic, it was not the same place any more and it lost the friendliness. I and a lot of my friends used to go to Chester.

The mid 80s were best at the Tiv when it was Trends, and then back to the Tiv. It was full, fun and no trouble with Dave, but then it became seedy!

Our best memories of the Tiv were in the days when Roy Miller owned it assisted by his deceptively tough side-kick Alex (Manager). We used to enjoy the 'complementary' Thursday night events when Roy would invite his in-crowd to special nights of a 'big-band' or group at his expense. Also in the old days, boxing bouts would take place there using the old 'stage' to accommodate the ring. We also used to hear tales of the 'Tivoli ghost' (a former projectionist of the early cinema days) who supposedly died as a result of a fire in the projection room. Alex's children, who lived with their parents in accommodation above the theatre, related incidents of 'talking to the man' on the stairs - what man? - exactly, little kids usually only tell the truth.Incidentally, for our age group, most of our dancing was done at the 'Albert Hall', (further up the main road and opposite 'The Black Horse,) during the days of rock 'n roll and the 'twist' - being a non-alcoholic establishment, cut off time for admission was before 10pm requiring a timely exit from either 'The Black Horse', 'The Black Lion' or 'The White Lion' all the other pubs were too far away to beat the curfew.

My memories of the Tiv were in the mid 80s. I remember being dragged on stage by the Dream Boys (or did I volunteer myself, can't remember) and one of them 'pumping' their gorgeous toned bod up and down over me - those were the days before marriage and kids! I can't go without mentioning the good old 'Gutter Band'. What performers they were! As an absolute avid fan of the Glam Rock scene, I was in my element when they played in the Tiv!

Hi to all them who loved the Tiv in the late 80s to 90s when Howard Croft owned it. Do you remember the Monday nights they were the best with DJ Pete Eccles and Lee Smith. Do you remember Jeff the dancer, Clark Kent the singer, the Gutter Band on a Friday and voulous vouz and all the entertainment when putting people in the cage for their birthdays and chucking whatever we could find inside - ha ha. Also, foam party nights and beach parties etc. Why don't we have things like this anymore? Hello to Shaun whose parents used to own Claptons on Liverpool Rd. If anyone remembers the DJs please add something to this site, thanks.

Respect the herd, as from afar I know what's happening, the original herd is still a tight group, (to them goats/goatess) beware the want to be members as there will be wolves in fake goatness who clearly want to be fools who have no right to be in the know...you know who I mean...THE CHIEF.

My father worked the lights when it was a theatre, and remembers them being converted to electric lighting. This was in the later part of the 1920s. He was only 14 years old. I was on duty about 1952 with the St John's Ambulance Brigade at 1 of the pantomimes.

i frequented from 1994 - 2000, it had some of the greatest, biggest and up-and-coming rock live acts, the most stomping rock discos, and the beardiest barman(tony "roy wood") in the universe. alas this is (allegedly) no longer the case. big shout out to all the staff circa that period, and especialy to Norman the Doorman and Rod, the most mild-mannered and pleasant bouncers in the history of mankind (just dont cross 'em.....)
