Anyone remember an Elizabeth Spencer or Jack or John Edwards and their daughter Dorothy Edwards (1925)?

I started going to the Tiv when I was 15. It was a fantastic place to meet all your friends and meet new friends. We used to start off in the Blackhorse and walk down on a Saturday night but if it was raining we'd jump on the bus at the cross and get off at the Tiv for 10p, and that was on the old road when it used to go straight through the old cross as I call it now. I then started working there in 1987 for 5 years. Howard had it then and he was a great boss I bumped into him last year at a charity do at the Argoed Club he hasn't changed a bit. Although he didn't recognise me straight off as I don't have my 80s perm any more lol. I really enjoyed working there coz I got a night out and got paid for it. Got to see loads of bands and meet lots of people. It never felt like work. So I do remember Pete Eccles who may I add still works for Howard at Howards Club in Liverpool The Crazy House. I think that's the name he should have used for the Tiv don't you. Who remembers the fire escape with the ladder which went up to the lighting controls? We called it the bus stop, that is where me & my friends congregated. I could go on and on as I have such great memories of the Tiv and unfortunately who ever has it now has killed it. Not been for years now but I would be there in a shot if they ever bring back the over 25s on a Friday.

I used to go to Buckley with a girl who worked in Aber Works with me. My maiden was Beaton, maybe you remember me. We worked with Ros Parry, a very funny lady, sadly passed away now. You might remember Pat Bellis, Sandra Evans, Doreen Hampton, who all worked on the same shift also a Margaret from Mold. We all got on great and though it was hard work we never got down.

I remember going to the Jubilee in 1966 - going to the Tabernacle chapel and being lifted on to the lorries and going round Buckley, then stopping at the Common. We would give our money for someone to get us an ice cream then go to the Tabernacle Sunday School rooms for tea and then do races on the field and try to win some momey for the fair.

The Jubilee is amazing. The best part is the fair, it's mint. I really enjoyed the parade!

We loved Buckley Jubilee, lived there from 68-1975. Treasured photos of floats and a man with monkey (which sat on the children's shoulders) ready for his photo, and of course, we paid, keep it up!

Where have all the leopards and albatrosses gone to?!

I feel the meaning of the jubilee has gone. All everyone looks forward to on the day is the fair. They should not have a fair and get the meaning of the jubilee back which is, of course, the lord our God!

The fair is well mint! I think it should happen more than once a year!

I love the fair it's mint - it's the only good thing that happens in Buckley. The parade is good because it joins everyone.

Great to find this page. I live and have lived in N.Z. for the past 32 years. I went to Lane End infants and the "Board" school in the late 40s early fifties. Left Buckley in '53. Does anyone remember me? Does anyone remember Anne Edwards or know the whereabouts? Her parents had a shoe shop by the Cross. She was my first girlfriend.

To answer Ruth's question, Buckley Jubilee is always the Tuesday nearest 12th July (often second Tuesday in July).
