Firing mortars on the Ruabon Mountains

Q:Mike Mitchell from Brighton: "I was evacuated from Liverpool at the age of 12 to Pen-y-Cae/Ruabon/Afon Goch and was conscripted to the Army in early 1945. Posted to the Manchester Regiment at the Dale in Chester I was in a squad that practised firing mortars on the Ruabon Mountains. I've no idea of the actual site, and would be grateful to hear from anyone in the locality who could give me the location/map reference."
