Ivy Cottage, Corwen
Q:Dave from Bampton: "I'm hoping that you can help me, my mother was born in 1927 in Ivy Cottage which stood in Hill Street, Corwen. Sadly and to my amazement I am unable to find anybody who has a photgraph of this cottage in any shape or form. I have been putting together my mother's biography and it would be the icing on the cake if you were able to aide me in my search. This is to say at the very least a very vital image to be inserted into the document and yet it remains elusive, please help me as it would mean so much. Many thanks" If you have any old photos email them to wales.northeast@bbc.co.uk or use the form below to submit further information.

I have been given an old school photo of what could be my father from the 1930s. He lived in Corwen and would have gone to either the bottom school or the then national school which was quite a way down past what was the old workhouse. I am trying to find out if this photograph is of him and, if so, what school; what was the name of the school photographs company in case they would have archive records of whose photos they took, etc. I have asked one school photographs company but it was not them. Any ideas?

My mother was married from the Turf Hotel in Broughton. Would be grateful if you had any info on the hotel. It was April 1918. The date of the marriage, that is. Thanks

There is a book called 'Corwen - Remember the old days 1900- 1999' by Glyn Owen who lives locally (Corwen). The book is published by Gwasg Carreg Gwalch, 12 Iard yr Orsaf, Llanrwst, Wales LL26 0EH. ISBN: 0-86381-639-8. Just for info, my father was born and bred in the Royal Oak pub!
