Photos: Local motor vehicles
Last updated: 03 February 2009
Q:Rob Richardson from Broughton, Chester: "I am looking for old photographs of all types of local motor vehicles -dating from 1903-1974 which carried the original Flintshire 'DM' registration number. Anything from motorcycles, motor cars, vans, ambulances, police cars, fire appliances, buses and coaches; motor lorries and any steam powered vehicles which were used in the locality. Even pictures of the local humble bin lorry would be interesting to see. I am also interested in seeing pictures taken locally in Flintshire in which any old vehicle appears in the background. Examples such as coach trips where the passengers are posing in front of the coach to have their photo taken would be very interesting to see. I am trying to record the history of road transport in Flintshire and would be very interested to see anything on this subjest."

ROB, I have a photograph of quite a large bus which my father gave me many years ago and bears the registration number EM1259 and if memory serves me correctly I seem to remember my late father saying it was then owned by the Wakely Bus Company of Holywell. As with Jane from Mold, should this photo be of any interest you can obtain my contact details from the Webteam.

Rob - I have a picture of my Grandad and friend in either late '40s or early '50s showing a delivery truck with DDM as the registration plate. I can send it to you if you can get my contact details from the webteam.

Does anyone have any information concerning Motor Sport at Kinmel Camp? I am endeavouring to put together a record of motor racing venues in the whole of Wales. Any help would be appreciated.

The Mold and District Community Archive CD-ROM contains many photographs of various forms of transport and this can be purchased from Mold Town Library. Since this was published earlier this year the collection has been added to and we will be upstairs in Mold Town Library on Saturday 24th September between 9.30 and 11.30 should you wish to view this.
