The Butler family

This photo and question were submitted by Jean from West Kirby...

Butler family

"I'm researching my family tree and know that these are my gg grandparents & family, George & Eliza Butler, who were in service at a local hall. They lived in Halghton in/near Flint. I'd love to know the name of the hall if anyone can make any suggestions?"

I have traced my father John Butler's family back to early 18th Century, all from Derbyshire.

Have you considered DNA testing for your Butler family males.

Further to my other posting. If Halghton Hall is what you are looking for, find a website called 'Gathering the Jewels' and put Halghton Hall in the search. There are three pages of photographs there.

If you are sure it is the Flint area the hall is almost certain to be Halkyn. There is a Halghton Hall, but that is in the old detached portion of Flintshire (Maelor Saesneg) near Overton. In either case Flintshire Records office at Hawarden should be able to help.

Could the location be Halkyn, not Halghton? There was a Halkyn Hall I believe. The library H.Q. at Mold should be able to provide further information.
