Samuel Charles Davies, Wrexham AFC Secretary

Last updated: 14 December 2006

Q: John Wynne, Knutsford: "I am trying to find some historical information about Wrexham AFC's history. In particular, I am trying to find out about a Samuel Charles Davies, who I'm told was Secretary of Wrexham AFC. He was born about 1893-94, so I suspect he could have been involved with the club from his twenties onwards, i.e., from 1914 onwards, so probably after World War I at the earliest; he served in the Army during the war. I'm afraid I can't be more specific, other than to say he may have worked for a Flint newspaper, covering football (possibly as a reporter, though also possibly as a cartoonist). I would be very grateful for any information, or advice on how I might be able to track down more information on him."
