Hand Hotel, Chirk
Q: Fiona, Eastbourne: "I'm looking for pictures, or some idea of the newspaper involved, in an article that was written about the Hand Hotel and meals in minutes using the microwave. The Hand Hotel was 'famous' (a child's understanding! i.e. ME) because it was the first place in the UK to use a microwave. We were in the papers, but I can't remember which ones, but we were definitely in the 'local news sheets' as well. I don't know if I'm allowed to mention 'who' was in the photo (staff) but she will remember who she is...maybe her family kept a copy?
I have already spoken to a 'local or two' who've been extremely helpful. And I thank them for that and look forward to hearing from them and those Im hoping to contact in the very near future!
I'm really looking forward to the contacts I might get through using this page and the help I'm getting through the 'locals'. Can I please use this page to say a huge thank you to them for their help (and apologise for keeping them chatting!!) and in this process let everyone know that the locals ARE helpful and sometimes it 'pays' to have people who know lots! And any youngsters out there...keep in touch with people while you're growing up, don't make the same mistake I have done because you never know when it might be too late to try looking them up again."
