Cilcain Hall

Last updated: 30 January 2006

Q: Julie, Afonwen: "I am looking for information on Cilcain Hall, and possibly the Yates family who lived there. I have some old photos, that are possibly the Yates, and would love to know more about them. Did they have any Liverpool connections? One photo shows a trip across the Mersey. Anybody know the name of Winifred's father and mother? Any info please."

We used to live at Cilcain Hall from 1986 until 2002. We heard from the previous owners to us, a Mr Jones who was an estate agent, that Miss Yates used to own the hall. She was of Yates Wine Lodges and the Roberts family from the farm next door remembered her from way back. The Hall only had basic plumbing then and she was very much the local "lady" who graciously spoke to farmers occasionally. Rumour has it she was found dead at the bottom of the stairs one day.
