Guy's Buses

Q: Ken Swallow from Liverpool: "As a tame historian of North Wales independent bus operators I was interested in Myra Fisher's pic of one of Guy's buses. Would be glad to know more about that operator - when acquired by Western Transport, whether they ran either excursions or a regular service to Birkenhead etc. Is there any more information available please?"

I just wondered if anyone had any photographs of vehicles operated by local Wrexham operators (Phillips/Williams/Wrights etc). I do have Mike Edge's excellent book on the subject, but I wondered if anyone has more photographs. Whilst at school, I used to clean buses for Phillips of Rhostyllen and have fond memories I would like to recapture. I just wish I'd taken pictures at the time of the vehicles, that definitely did have their own character!

My family owned Guy's buses (my mother's maiden name was Guy). I though it was taken over by Crosville. I'm trying to locate some old pictures we have.

According to Mike Edge's 'Wrexham Bus Companies', the business was founded in about 1918 and taken over by the Western Transport Company in 1930. It operated on routes between Wrexham and Pentre Broughton and Brymbo and also ran frequent trips to Rhyl.
