Whilst walking home at about 22:30 on 16th November 2009 down the Alltami road towards the Argoed High School, a large white ball of light was seen falling from the sky. There were small sparks coming from it. Thought it might be a firework but it was too big and didn't explode. Then thought it might be a meteorite. It went behind the trees though so didn't see where it landed. Did anyone else see this? Or reported a similar sighting?

Wednesday 28 October about 9.30pm. I left my mum's house and noticed an orange light moving north coming over from the Holywell direction. As it I turned to get my mum and sister out of the house the light faded out to a small dot so I thought it could just be something burning up in the atmosphere. Thinking nothing of it but still watching, I carried on home. As the dot came over head there was a gray disc, there was no lights on it and no noise. The disc continued on a straight line until out of sight, over Wirral. If anyone witnessed this let us know because I feel like I'm cracking up.

Brian, Old Colwyn
Last Wednesday evening (14th Oct 09) at about 1845hrs I had just arrived home (Old Colwyn on the N Wales coast) and was unloading my car. It was a very still evening with no wind and little cloud but with large clear patches out over the N Wales coast about 2-3miles to the North. My wife came out to help, next thing she said - 'oh, what's that up there?' I looked up and saw what I first thought was the locally based police helicopter which frequents the area, it is based a few miles down the coast from me. It was about 1000ft and heading slowly in land from the coast heading in a south direction. It had a large single orange light (non- flashing) on the front so at this point was not properly visible. Also, it was completely noiseless, (if it had been the police helicopter or indeed a plane I would have heard it by now.) At this point I thought it was an airliner as we are close to a major route (BRAVO 1), but soon realised that this craft (?) was way off route and was far too low. I rushed into the house to get my binoculars. By this time the object appeared to be climbing at a steady rate, but very slow and the orange light began to fade. I focused my binoculars and saw the light fade out. I expected to see the fuselage of either a helicopter or airliner or small plane - not so! To my amazement it was a black featureless object, estimated at least the size of a family car (probably much larger) which seemed to be oscillating or spinning and still completely noiseless. It had no wings, rotors or tailplane and no lights - I can describe it as a large cube shape with the sides distorting or slowly oscillating. I passed the binoculars to my wife who confirmed the same - 'a black not quite square object'. At this point it was difficult to see with the naked eye as the daylight was fading fast, however the object began to turn to the left parallel to the coast still travelling slowly at about 1000-1500 ft (estimated). At this point I lost it in the accumulating cloud and I went into the house. About 10mins later (about 1900hrs) I came out again and to my amazement saw the object again in the same position and height speed etc and with a single non-flashing orange light. As it got closer the light faded to reveal the same black object (no wings, rotors or tailplane). It again then turned to the left and disappeared into cloud. I again waited about 10 mins to see if it would return however by this time it was getting too dark and also the clouds were increasing. I have lived on the North Wales coast for 52 years and am used to seeing airliners and military jets (the area is used by the RAF for low level training) and also BAE Warton is located across Irish sea near Blackpool, however I am an experienced 'planespotter' and I know what I saw ! - this object was no (conventional!) plane or helicopter and was completely noiseless with no wings, rotors or tailplane. It couldn't have been a weather balloon because it changed direction and did 2 circuits / orbits in windless conditions. I doubt if it was a hang glider flying in near darkness (they don't have large orange lights on the do they?). It was not the local police helicopter or plane. It was not the ISS (international space station) or space debris or satellite becaue it was too low (not in earth orbit). It was not a comet or meteor because they are fast moving when returning to earth. Whatever this was (Black triangle, Military UAV or indeed alien craft!!) I do not know, however, it was my first sighting and I am convinced that it was 'intelligently controlled' and not artificial.

At 11.45pm Saturday 10th Oct 2009 I was about to go to bed. I opened my back door to let my two dogs out. As I stood at the doorway I saw a bright orange light in the sky above Towyn. My first thought was a fireball. The object kept moving and as it got opposite to me its shape had altered to an oblong shape, but still bright orange. There was no noise whatsoever. I stood there fascinated by this object, trying to figure out what it was. It hovered for about one minute, still no noise so I knew it wasn't an aircraft. It then moved towards the east over Rhyl and then seemed to pick up speed, changing direction, then disappeared. I have never seen anything like this before. It was definitely not a helicopter or any other aircraft. It was approx 4 miles up and when it was opposite to me it looked like a street light spinning round.

My friend and I were in his garden burning logs on his burner, it was between 11.30pm and 11.45pm. We saw two white lights in the distance coming over. At first we thought they were Chinese lanterns but as they got closer we knew different. They came right over us slow then sped off there was no sound. I could see like a circle underneath with segments around it then within seconds two more appeared and followed. My friend and I thought we'd better not tell anyone in case they thought we were mad and ribbed us over it.

Michelle, Rhyl near Prestatyn
Me and my partner live near the fields looking over Prestatyn and we've lived there a few years but for the past few years weve been seeing a bright white light, just one of them in the night sky above the fields near Prestatyn. It's quite scary because we've seen it quite a number of times and when tried to film it we couldn't pick it up over where we live. We see lots of different lights in the sky so I tend not to look any more. We've seen red ones, white one and gold looking ones quite strange but I've always been interested in our planet and how we are looking after it. I think it's a sign which we are seeing.

Saturday 19/09/09, 19:57. With four workmates we saw about 8 orange objects flying over Whitby park in Ellesmere Port. They glided over the park very slowly and made no sound at all. They were not very high in the sky. In a flash they disappeared. Can the RAF at least say something concerning these events. Maybe it's the new aircrafts the RAF are yet to inform us about...

Soocee - Wirral
10th Sept 2009 Time: 20.38-20.45. Eight orange lights travelling slowly along Dee Estuary North to South, 2 were together followed at regular intervals by 6 others travelling singly. No noise. Lights seemed to turn towards Welsh hills then faded away. One aircraft was travelling south-west to north-east and appeared to pass between 2 of them (unknown height.)

My brother was looking out his bedroom window at 4 in the morning and he saw 5 red lights in the sky. My mum's friend also saw them.

Saturday 5th September 2009 20:50pm. I was walking along Hereford Road in Great Boughton, in CHESTER. I looked up and saw what looked like an orange ball of fire flying across the sky. At first I thought it was a plane on fire about to crash, but it stayed at the same height, went extremely fast into the horizon, didn't make any noise, or have any trail of smoke behind it. Another witness near me said it could've been a comet going over the earth, but we are usually told when comets will be visible to us by astronomers on the news etc. I have had three UFO experiences now, but this one is the best as I wasn't alone seeing it. My brother described the same object and experience a few months ago, now I have seen it and believe him.
Mon Sep 7 09:18:30 2009

Jamie from Southampton
What looked like balls of fire in the sky rising, at first there was just one, then two then as one went out another was sent into the sky so there was always two. This was about 3:10 - 4 am last night (sunday early morning) seemed to be coming from Southampton city centre. These things were huge.

Sat. 5th Sept. at around 23.00 my partner and I were startled by a very bright red/orange glow through the window (we have a loft bedroom). We got up and opened the window to have a better look, it was travelling in a northerly direction towards our house and then turned and headed east going quite slowly. I had by this time got out my binoculars and observed it through them to see that there were no flashing under lights like air craft have. There was no sound coming from it ie. jet or rotary engine noise and I would say that it was only a few hundred feet up! I would say that it appeared to be about 4 or 5 times the size of the brightest stars in the sky. It took a few minutes before it was too dim to see it in the distance.I then got my camera and went back to the window to look out again, just as I had done so another one appeared from the west heading east. This second one was a lot closer and much brighter, it flew much like the same speed as the other and this time I got it on camera. The brightness of it was quite intense and was caught on camera due to this, if it had been a normal air craft my camera would have not picked it up as it would have been too dim. This also made no sound which made it very spooky.

Over a decade ago I had experiences with 4 lights the size of ping pong balls, bright red and orange centeres with white fizzing edges. They appeared over a garden table where I had objects on the table that I brought back from ireland. Months later I saw 4 massive lights, maybe 6 metres across, 2 like above and 2 initially like moons but changed to concentric circles of gold and silver. Two of the lights were free and two were attached to a massive craft that was some 20 to 30 metres off the ground.

Sunday 30th August 2009.We were driving home from Chester at approx 11.30pm (3 of us) approaching the roundabout before M53 junction. We noticed a lot of orange glowing lights in the sky, quite low. Probably 50 or more in two large groups. From a South/West Wales direction moving towards the Warrington area. Stopped the car & got out to have a closer look. All of the objects appeared the same. Vivid orange cicle types with a clear fire/flame in the middle. All moving at the same constant speed, at the same constant height, no noise at all, more of them continued to come for a few minutes the the last 2 or 3 disappeared into the distance. Not sure what speed, but was a bit like watching a passenger plane going overhead in terms of how long they were visible. Took a photo & video of last few on mobile, not too clear. We could only think of hot air balloons due to the flame/no noise? Very odd, can anyone confirm if they saw same or explain what these are?

We have just seen [Sunday, 10:30pm] two bright lights in the sky - looked like 2 fireballs coming in from the North moving at an extremely fast pace in complete silence. Time we got our camera out the lights vanished into the clouds. I know some people are saying these are Chinese lanterns but we have seen Chinese lanternes before and they do not resemble the sight we saw tonight. Definitely something strange happening in our skies.

My husband and I were driving through Willaston Saturday at about 9.30 when we saw approx 20 orange globes/lanterns in the sky. They were so bright and unusual that we stopped the car to look closely. They travelled upwards moving in sync and then vanished into the sky slowly. It was very strange we have been racking our brains to think logically what it could have been.

We noticed orange lights, but I believe they are Thai Sky Lanterns. Very beautiful all the same!

Saturday August 22 09 between 9-10pm. I saw 5 orange lights in the sky and I filmed it on my camera. Weird stuff. They were travelling north, totally silent, moving steady and quite fast. They appeared to have a halo or just looked blurry and out of focus in some way.

Just finishing a walk when a procession of about 15 orange lights was visible coming over the town. They travelled south to north silently and twinkled line astern and then disappeared. I don't believe they could be Chinese lanterns as the last two were almost side by side and the rear one veered off a little and then continued. I rang Huntingdon police but no one else seems to have noticed - fortunately my wife was with me and we called our daughter out to see too. Well well!

Amazed to see other reports of orange lights in the sky. Just walked home from the pub following Liverpool's humiliating home defeat to Aston Vila. It was 10pm when my girlfriend and me were walking along the road towards our house, we both saw an orange light travelling from south to north (left to right as we looked at it), no sound and moving in a constant straight line, too fast to be a plane, far too slow to be a satellite & too bright to be a Chinese lantern. The light was bright orange, not red or green and after travelling for approx 15 seconds seemed to disappear! Will be keeping my eye out the next few nights.

On 23rd August 2 friends arrived at my house, totally freaked out by the fact that they had spotted at least 15 orange lights in the sky, which then in several groups shot off into the sky at a 45 degree angle. They said at first they thought it might have been air balloons but by the way they shot off, they realised that they were moving way too fast to have been. There were meant to have been plane lights in the air which made it even easier to make a comparison. Anyone else see these lights?

23rd August 2009 Newport south Wales. Me and 3 friends saw a bright orange/red ball slowly moving and sometimes stopping across the sky going towards Newport centre from Tradegar park area, it was almost like a giant fire ball and looked like it was on fire but moved so slowly. I've managed to get a short clip on my phone wish I'd had a better quality camera to hand though! So many people must have seen this...I wish I'd called the police to log it and them to look up as they def would have seen it.

Well I don't know what to think. I'm naturally sceptical but saw some orange lights in the sky I couldn't explain. Two of them in seeming formation, they crossed the sky from south to north (my husband saw another pair before he called me outside to see). They were not planes. We live near Mcr airport and there were plenty of planes arouind. What we saw was nothing like aeroplanes. I googled 'UFOs' and this site came up. Nearly everyone has seen orange lights. If they are all Chinese lanterns a has been suggested, someone must be releasing them almost every night. I'm not convinced they are ETs but would love another convincing explantion. Chinese lanterns just don't wash!

We have seen five of these orange lights tonight at about 9.30pm floating through the sky and then disappearing. We also saw them on Wednesday night, whilst staying in Polzeath in Cornwall on Wednesday night, at about the same time, would love to know what they are. Any ideas?

On Thursday 20 August 2009 between 22.00 and 23.40 ten spherical lighted objects passed in series over the Denbigh area travelling towards Rhyl. They were silent. We caught the later ones on video.

Around 9:35pm I was walking home from the cinema with my boyfriend and I spotted a bright orange flashing light in the sky...it was more like a flashing fire ball! So my boyfriend decided to record it however we recorded it for a few seconds then it suddenly disappeared! When we went to my house we decided to play it again... this time it was going across the sky, it was going crazy. We also noticed 2 other mysterious lights. However we came on this site and it shocked us even more to find out people saw it around the same time as us.

About 10.15 pm on 17 August 2009 I was in my garden just gazing in to the sky and saw a strange red fire ball in the sky. There was no noise and at first I thought it was a plane on fire. It lasted for about 4 min and then went out of view. Strange, I have never seen anything like that in my life.

Rich King, Carnoustie
Last week on Wednesday 12 Aug 09 I went to take the dog for her usual late night walk at about 10 pm. Walking down Burnside Street in Carnoustie a bright light caught my eye. It was up in the sky to my right. The sky was just turning from dusk to dark and the sheer brightness was brilliant, and very noticeable. The brightness was such that it looked like a ball of flame in the sky. It would be between 100 and 200 metres above rooftop level travelling in a direction south east. I could actually see what I took to be flames burning up in a vertical maner. The flames did not tail out behind it as you would get with a comet or shooting star. My first thoughts was that this was an aircraft on fire about to crash, but it made no noise and stayed straight and level on its heading. I can't say it was a machine of any kind because I did not see anything behind the "flames". I would estimate the flames to be the size of a small car. My next thought as to rationalise this was that it was a weather balloon, but I quickly discounted that idea because there was not a breath of wind in the air that night. I ran down Burnside St towards the golf course because that was where it was heading, keeping it in sight the whole time. When I got to the railway bridge I stood on top and kept the object in sight. As I stood watching the object made its way over the golf course, again on a level constant heading and direction south west, about 400 metres to the right of the golf hotel, and went out to sea, until it would have been roughly in line with St Andrews, where the brightness faded and faded until it just winked out of sight.

My girlfriend and I were walking accross a nearby field at around ten o'clock on 15/08/09 when we saw what looked like a Chinese lantern emerge from behind a row of trees around 20 feet ahead of us, flickering a vivid orange glow. It moved accross our path slowly until we took a flash picture of it when it turned away rom us and accelerated silently into the sky disappearing, altogether, from sight within the space of 15-20 seconds.
Mon Aug 17 14:31:19 2009

Mary Duffy, Billingham
My husband and I saw these lanterns and straightaway my husband said that that's what they were "lanterns". I however let my imagination run away with me and put on Facebook that I had seen what looked like UFOs.I have apologised to him and showed him this page. Also I will put a link to this page as all my friends and family thought I had been seeing things. I'm glad at last to prove I did see three red lanterns floating over my house.

Last night at about 10:05pm me and my partner spotted a bright orange ball, it was moving very fast and was as bright as a star, it definitely was not a plane. Tonight at exactly the same time I was outside and saw the same thing in exactly the same place. Does anyone know what this orange ball is?

At 10;40pm on the 15th of August walking home from a friend's in Arnold. I was walking north westerly when I noticed over 30 orange orbs of light in the sky travelling in a northenly direction. It freaked me out because they all disappeared when they got to a certain place. I have also seen these before looking south about a month ago but they were in a triangle formation and rotating anti clockwise.

My wife and I were walking home at about 12.45am when we saw 2 oval shaped orange lights in the sky heading towards Manchester, they were silent and travelling at a steady pace. They were too big to be Chinese lanterns as someone commented in one letter. The height these were I would say they were slightly smaller than an airliner.

On Wed 10/08/09 was just driving into my street when out of nowhere a very bright orange ball appeared. I got out of the car to get a better look. It was very big and appeared to have a kind of reflection of itself attached. I've seen many things in the sky but could not identify this, it was moving just slightly faster than a plane and seemed to be comming in from the north. I actually thought it was like a plane in a fireball and thought it was coming straight for me but it changed direction and headed north east and out of sight. I live in Cumbernauld, Scotland, anyone else seen this?
Fri Aug 14 09:57:42 2009

Joy Roberts, Oswestry (shropshire)
On Sat 1st August me and a friend stayed in Tywyn north Wales. I went outside at about 10pm when I saw a bright orange ball, thought it was a plane on fire but there was no sound, travelling in a straight line out to sea where it stopped, was there for about 15 mins as I kept going outside to see if it was still there. Then a small silver light seemed to travel up the orange ball and disappeared inside it, and then lost it through cloud cover. Was definitely not a balloon or plane as it was really windy and it travelled in a straight line. Very strange.

Andrew Powell from Wirral
To all who saw the orange tear-drop shaped lights in the sky over Wirral on the 7th Aug between 2200 hrs and 2300 hrs. Around M53 junction 2. The lights were actually 10 Chinese Lanterns that we set off from Barnstondale camp near Storeton. They travelled up in a straight line heading towards the North East. We were entertaining some disabled children before a camp fire was lit and the lights very quickly became orange globes floating in the sky. The children themselves commented on how they looked like UFOs. Sorry to disappoint!

At about 11.30pm Saturday 8th August 2009 myself and 3 friends also saw two very bright, fairly big orange lights that moved slowly and made no sound at all, they then changed direction and seemed to be heading towards Liverpool. We watched for quite a while until they were just pinpricks in the sky.

On 6th August 2009, my partner and myself were in the back garden, it was around lunch time. Being a bit of a saddo I always have binos with me to identify planes. Then I spotted a disc shape in the sky, it appeared to disappear then come back to view again, I watched for what seemed like hours, my partner asked what I had seen, and when he looked was as mesmarised as myself, then all of a sudden, considerably lower down were two orange ball shapes, no sound from them, then two more appeared one was yellow and the other green, all seemed to be in line, and vanished as quickly as thay appeared. They were travelling east to west, and seemed to be spinning around each other and changing position. I have never witnessed the like before, but hope to again. I would love to believe they were UFOs, but who knows? I can't explain it.

These comments regarding the orange light in the sky at night over the weekend of 9th & 10th August are very familiar! We too saw this strange silent orange ball of light come in over the sands of Black Rock Beach, very low, silent and not flashing. It was lower than the clouds, definitely not a copter or a plane. It curved around as though going toward Tremadog area then just disappeared. If that was not enough the same thing happened on the Sunday evening as well. We wondered if it was someone with a remote control aircraft but it was too big and no noise. I specifically looked out last night Monday to see if it would appear again but no luck. Does anyone have a clue as to what this was?

Sunday 9th August at 10:45pm...whilst having a late bbq with friends we noticed 10 orange/red orb like objects hovering over Oakdale fading in and out for about 2-3mins, then they all faded out together. I know it was not planes, helicopters or Chinese lanterns? It was similar to an earlier sighting I had over Oakdale the previous summer when I saw 6 metallic orbs in full daylight dancing in and out of the clouds then shooting off east bound with absolute mindblowing speed. The truth is out there?

Tonight at approx 10pm my husband and I watched for over five minutes at least 10 orange objects in the sky over Chester - there was no sound from any of them - they were all moving slowly in the same direction and then just disappeared. My husband has got some film footage - have there been more reports of this? Can they be explained - they really were too big for other people not to have noticed.

Red light in sky??? just a few mins ago 11.15pm Sunday 9th Aug 2009, could see a red light in the sky from where I live in Ellesmere Port looking towards north Wales. It looked like a plane light at first, but it was not flashing it was a static light, it was some distance away. I would guess it was over the Welsh hills, so I went to get my camcorder and stood in the garden and looked to where I saw it out of the window but it had gone ?? then it appeared again and seemed to be flying in a large circle. I say this because it vanished behind a cloud I thnik but then appeared again from the same place I first saw it, so it must have been moving at some speed to get back there, unless it was more than one. Anyway my camcorder was not powerful enough to pick it up, too many street lights.

It's August 7th 2009 around 2200 hrs and my son and I are driving to Chester. We get on the M53 via the Kingsway tunnel from Liverpool, and at around junction 2 on our left we see 6 orange lights in the sky, all around the same height in a line just hovering with no sound, in the background were stars, these were not stars. Has anybody else seen these objects?

Last night (at 10.45 pm 7 August 2009) we saw two of those orange lights moving west to east in a straight line, no noise and moving fast. Through binoculars my husband saw that each one consisted of three lights in a triangular formation. As they flew went towards Chapel en le Frith they disappeared. They were not planes as the planes were below them on the flight path to Manchester airport. Then tonight, Saturday 8th August 2009, we again saw them but this time there were three of them flying in an extended triangular formation going east to west approaching the side of our house. Like the night before they disappeared from view. I took pics in which you can see the distant orange glow. Once in a lifetime to see UFOs would be an experience but two nights in a row...WOW.

Gill Paterson -Prenton Wirral
At approx 10-10 last night 7/8/09 my son drew our attention to some strange bright orange/red tear-drop shaped objects in the sky outside our house in Prenton, Wirral. There were about 8 of these objects which seemed to be travelling silently in formation at a smooth even speed. Eventually they disappeared in the direction of Ellesmere Port. I would be interested to know if anyone else saw these strange objects.

Response to "LBWB A41, Cheshire" I saw the exact same thing as you described last night about 11pm from London... It was heading from south to north. I thought it was a very, very bright satellite but when it passed a cloud it was not behind as you would expect but it was in front. I see a lot of planes and helicopters living in London and this was neither. Would love to know what it was.

Me and my other half saw these 5 orange lights which I guessed was nr Sheffield / Pennine hills. This was around 11pm. I think it was 30 July 09. I managed to capture picture of x2 on camera they were very symmetrical the way they were moving - strange

At around 9.20pm last night, I was sat in my home office catching up on a bit of work. The desk is next to the window. I noticed a bright object out of the corner of my eye. I looked out of the window and saw what appeared to be an object on fire in the sky. It was a huge orange ball of fire. As it passed silently over the house, I noticed the top of the object was jet black, triangular or possibly diamond shaped with a huge glowing orange ball underneath. I hurriedly went to grab the camera, and ran to the fornt of the house to catch it again as it passed over, but it seemed to have disappeared through the clouds. I have absolutely no idea what I saw. It seemed far too big to be a chinese lantern. It wasn't a conventional aircraft, there were no wing lights or tail lights. Very strange indeed.

LBWB A41, Cheshire
Coming down the A41 near Tesco's on old Chester Road, Little Sutton, there appeared to be what looked like the colour of street light but a lot brighter round light in the sky, (too slow and smoothly controlled to be a shooting star or meteor, and most definitely NOT a plane, as we have seen tons of oncoming planes-this was an orange light) it was coming from the direction of Wales then passing over at a steady speed towards Warrington. There was no sound as we had to stop the car and get out to check. The orange light then appeared to fade slowly. Has anyone else seen this in the area?

At about 10.45pm we were travelling back towards Bangor from Manchester along the A55 when somewhere between Denbigh and Prestatyn five orange lights appeared above us. They were the colour of street lamps and moving slowly - three appeared to be in a vertical line with 2 below and to the left. We thought that they were either helicopters or microlights, but they were too close together and moving too slowly. We couldn't make out what was above the light but my husband thought he saw a triangular shape and said they appeared to have flames around them. I could only see the glow as from a street light. They passed over our car and headed towards Rhyl, we were quite unnerved and I turned to watch them, they appeared to be stationary as they receded from us and were visible for at least 10 minutes. I have to say our children were quite unnerved and we have never seen anything like this before.

Why do I have to be different? What I saw late one night was a blue light not real big...like about two or three feet and it was going north at about 300 to 500 feet high. No idea how fast but moving right along. I was driving so never got to stare long. Suddenly it was gone

Richard, Little Neston
Not sure of the exact date but sometime early July 09 Little Neston I'd just let the dog out about 11:30pm. I looked up in the sky to see 6 glowing 'things' slowly and silently flying over the house. I shouted my wife who also saw them - we couldn't explain what they were and they just disappeared out of view.

We also saw a bright orange thing in the sky over Connah's Quay. We thought it was a plane but noticed that it wasn't moving. It then just disappeared.

Friday night at approx 11:00pm I watched 2 small round orange shapes rise into the air and travel over our house. They were orange with a darker orange centre. They were silent and moved smoothly across the sky. Then they seemed to burn out - very strange.

Saturday (25.7.09) at around 10.20pm we were sat out in the garden (me, my daughter and husband) when we saw a bright orange circular light in the sky. We thought it was an air balloon, but it looked like it was on fire, as it resembeled an orange fireball of some sort. Also, we didn't think it was legal for hot air balloons to fly at night as it was dark. The thing that we found odd was that the light/orange fireball travelled straight accross the sky for about a minute, then disappeared for about a minute, then reappeared, crossing the EXACT same route it had previously taken for the same length of time.

Ange, Connahs Quay
July 18th at about 10.30ish, my husband and I and our daughter saw an orange round shape object moving across the sky (over Connahs Quay/Wepre area), but no sound came from it. We thought it was something on fire, but then looking through binoculars, it appeared to burn up then a black object dropped from sight. We thought at first it was a helicopter or plane on fire and expected to hear an explosion. Did anyone else see it in the area over River Dee area towards Wirral?

Saturday 18 July 10:00 pm 6 or 7 large very brigh orange lights in the sky above Sheffield seemed to be in formation and stationary, then they just disappeared. There was no noise - I have never seen anything like it before.

My husband and I have also seen one of these orange fiery lights in the sky at 10.45pm on 18th July 2009 fly over our house in Nairn. By looking at the videos of the sky lanterns on Youtube, I'm pretty sure that we can rule it out as a UFO. Shame it wasn't anything more exciting although perhaps we should be relieved!

I was in bed and next minute my sister runs in my room shouting look, look. So I jump out of bed and look out my window. I saw a large orange fire ball in the sky. It was silent and travelled in a straight line. The time must have been about 11:00pm on 9 July 2009. I thought it was a comet and I made a wish on it but looking at what people have wrote it obvoiusly isn't a commet, but I still hope my wish comes true.

On 04/07/2009 about 9:30pm I was camping with my bro and a mate. We spotted a red/orange glow in the sky that looked a bit like fire. We stood and watched it get smaller as if it was travelling away from the earth, then shoot across the sky. This was the second time I had seen one. A few months back I was walking through some woods at night with a mate and we saw the same thing get smaller and smaller till it disappeared. Between these two sightings I had seen on the news - two were spotted by a pilot.

We were sat out at approx 9.30pm last night - 4th July and we saw a bright orange circle in the sky moving very fast without sound - once it had passed us the lights went out. It was too fast to be a plane and it was silent. About 5 mins later - 2 more flew over - again very fast, and once they had passed us - their lights went out also.

July 4th, 10.30pm - I have just seen a large orange fireball travelling over our house. It was travelling in a straight line, silent and quite large. Was this a Chinese Lantern? It looked pretty big if it was.

Regarding the post by Stuart - Aberystwyth, Ceredigion:I too saw what you saw on Friday 26th June but I saw it from Honiton looking out towards Payhembury and above the orange light was a very large (and bright) red light. I saw it at 11:40pm but could only see one orange light which appeared to travel towards the ground before rising back up to the red light. Once they joined they disappeared. Thanks for posting, I feel better now.

Last night I saw a object about 300m in the sky. It was orange and glowing and then when it got above us the lights suddenly went off, but we could still it in the darkness, it was oval and looked to be spinning. After about 10 mins of looking it disappeared over the St Anne's pier and flew over the sea. About 5 other families saw it and were also convinced it wasn't a plane (because the lights went out) and wasn't a lantern (because would it be spinning and come lower then go higher again?). Could this be a sign of extra terrestrial life? I think so.

3 of us were in the garden on 23/06/2008 about 9pm and we saw what looked like a bright orange/red light. On closer viewing, it almost looked like flames coming off a plane. However, it was totally silent and headed off in the Heathrow direction then disappeared into the clouds. I've lived there 16 years and never seen anything like it.

Whilst at a friend's on Saturday in Newton 20/6/09 I again saw strange orange lights in the sky. I am glad that my friends saw them as well. They were moving across the sky glowing and then hovered silently. Again they were very high and silent. Did anyone else see them? Later on in the evening another one appeared. If they are lanterns why were they not blown away by the wind?

I have just seen the strangest object in the sky, an orange ball like object travelling at speed (Looked like it was on fire) and then it disappeared after about a minute. It was very odd. Shouted my wife who also saw it (thankfully!). It was travelling from west to east over Warrington (Old Burtonwood Airbase) How bizarre! Just wondering has anyone else seen this at 11.15 pm Sat 20th June 2009?

10 June 2009: I saw a strange orange glow in the sky, not moving at all. Cloud came over and when the cloud passed the orange ball was in a different but nearby area. Not moving. Eventually it moved slowly in an easterly direction - a straight line until out of sight.

Couldn't believe there are so many others that have seen these large orange balls! I was woken last night, aprox 1:30am, Sat 6th June, by a man outside who was talking loudly on his phone to a friend saying that he was watching a UFO in the sky! When I got up and looked outside my window sure enough in the southern sky there was quite a large orange ball moving in a western direction very slowly! I have no idea what it was but it looked heated. I could believe it was a Chinese Lantern, if I knew what one in the sky looked like, but my only doubt with this is that it seemed a lot larger than what I imagined one to look like, and it seemed to move in a completely straight path totally undisturbed by the night's breeze. I think it was mentioned in one of these other posts and I'm not sure if it is important, but last night also was a big full moon?

I was sunbathing and I saw a silver/white coloured object which looked like it was comming in and out of the atmosphere like it was disappearing and coming back. It was at about 6pm on Sunday in Liverpool. I tried to video it on my phone but it was too far.

I was at my friend's BBQ the other night and it was around half past midnight and I noticed a bright light that was travelling at great speed. The light was travelling noticably faster than the other aeroplanes that were in the night sky at the time. It looked just like a giant ballon but with a bright flame inside, it was really weird. The group of friends that I was with also saw the bright light which was reassuring that it wasn't just me. Within a few minutes another light followed the first one, they were both going in a perfectly straight line while flashing just like the lights at a pelican crossing. No noise came from the lights which is strange as they were only around cloud level. After around two minutes both lights vanished behind the clouds. It was a confusing experience but also changes what I think about all this space and weird sightings topic.

I was 13 years old when I saw my first and only UFO. I was waiting for a bus with 2 older boys. 7:30 in the morning bright day when suddenly this rainbow coloured very fast zig-zaggy thing was right above us but still in our horizon. It was very fast but stopped at every end of zig-zag. Sorry, probably lost you there. I still can't quite understand what I saw! I am now 37. It was in the countryside of France, near Limoges (centre of France). I still remember it like it was yesterday. Very beautiful. It was quite large and left a trail of colour behind it. But I am glad I wasn't on my own! Also very reassuring to know that somebody else saw it!

In all honesty I have never before really thought about UFOs or anything of the kind until last night - at approx. 10.05pm. My mum had put our dog out in the garden, 5 mins later I opened the patio door & let her in. When doing so I glanced up to the sky and in all my 23 years have never seen anything like what I saw. I was absolutely stunned. There I saw 3 boldly glowing, orangey-red, round, silent floating (though speedily floating) in a south westerly direction! I shouted my mum who was in the kitchen, she came and I saw the same shock on her face as I had just experienced. She then urged me to get my dad. As I did 3 more appeared, one behind the other, unevenly spaced out yet all roughly at the same height. We all stared in disbelief wondering what these objects were (my parents are amongst the most rational/logical people you can come across, so to see them so shocked/baffled was also strange for me to see). Altogether we saw about 8 (as we stood on our patio for what we think was about 1-2 minutes) then they seemed to rise higher in the sky just above our house, then all of a sudden vanish! We tried to think of every possible logic answer to the question of what it was we had just witnessed, but nothing fitted! It was the most strange eerie experience we have ever had!

I saw around 20 bright orange lights flying fast, low and silently over London on the 24th May about 9.15. There were too many of them to be aeroplanes. I saw them from the roof of the flats I live in and was joined by another resident - neither of us has ever seen anything like this before.

I was on my way home after working at a club in Birkenhead, I always call to check my parents' house, just security conscious. As I had done my perimeter check I noticed an orange glow, about 400ft heading SE towards the Mersey [Sunday 24/05/2009 02.30]. It was too high for an approach to the John Lennon airport, no sound or flashing tail lights to indicate an aircraft. I watched it approx 20 secs, then it just faded into nothing.

After watching the Eurovision song contest on Saturday night, 16 May, I went upstairs to shut the blinds, and to my amazement saw 4 orange lights coming towards our house in Connah's Quay. They came from the south and headed north going over our house in Connah's Quay. I called my husband and we both went outside and watched them. They travelled steadily and quietly towards the Flintshire Bridge then went out of sight. Did anyone else see these orange lights?

When I was a child in the late 70s/early 80s me and a friend (Elenor) saw a red disc fly across the woods on the Ford Estate... hovered briefly over the car park area on Fairbeech Court where we were playing and then flew back across the woods and out of sight. It was about the size of a mini bus, though disc shaped.

On 1l May 2009 at 22:05 hrs I saw a glowing orange object move across the sky. I watched it as it moved east to westwards until it disappeared. It moved silenty but quickly and was quite low. No sooner had it had disappeared another exactly the same appeared and followed the same path as the first one. I have no explanation of what they were but have not seen anything like it before.

What you are witnessing is nothing less than Chinese lanterns. Everyone's releasing them into the air every night of the week now that the joke has caught on.

Andy, Staffordshire (re Saltney 09/05)
Re Nia, Saltney. I was staying with friends in Saltney on Saturday night 09/05 and we all witnessed the orange lights in the sky. There were 5 of them which made their way across the sky at a height of what I'd guess was 200-300ft in silence. My first guess was they were Chinese lanterns but considering there was hardly a breath of wind and these were travelling at 50-80mph in a slightly erratic fashion would rule this out and unlike aviation lights which are strong bright points of light, these were soft orange glowing balls. I like to think I'm a logical thinker but I can't offer an explanation.

Saturday 9th May 2009 @ 10.25pm. I received a phone call on my mobile + went to my back door to light a cigarette whilst talking with my friend, as I looked up I noticed two strange coloured orbs in the sky - it freaked me out + when I described what I was looking at to my friend he quickly said ''film it'' + hung up on me! I had only just got my new mobile a couple of weeks before + hadn't yet used the camera, so instead of flapping about - I just watched what was happening in the sky. The two orbs were fairly big in comparison with the stars, they were bright orange with a slight red hue around the outside, one seemed to be following the other one, though they kept exactly the same distance apart + were fairly low flying. They were moving slowly + there was no sound + looked like nothing I have ever seen before. I watched them for a couple of minutes before one gradually disappeared, then when the second one hit the same spot that too disappeared. I phoned my friend back to say what had happened + then as I looked to my left I saw two more + the only way I could describe it to my friend was like ''two balls of fire in the sky''. The orange colour in the second two seemed to be more intense + brighter. I hung up the phone + got the camcorder out + filmed them. Exactly the same thing happened, one seemed to be following the other, same distance apart throughout, travelling slowly, one disappered before the other + at the exact spot the first orbs disappered. The footage doesn't do any justice, to what i saw with my own eyes. I have never seen anything like this before + I'm amazed to read other people's accounts even described using the same words!

Last night (9/5/09) I was closing the curtains upstairs when I saw a bright orange ball high in the sky. It was not an aircraft and it made no noise. It appeared to flicker and smaller orange bits fell down. I called my husband to look and we watched it for about 4 mins. It appeared to be hovering and then just faded away. We thought it looked like a plane on fire. Did anyone else see this? It was really weird!

As previous witnesses have described, circular, glowing orange, "crafts", moving silently across the sky, observed from Neston, Wirral. The night sky, 22.25hrs, misty, but stars clearly visible, also a full Moon which added to the incredible sight. I watched three, one approx 10 seconds in advance of the trailing two, moving from left (from N.Wales,) to right, fading only with distance covered. Two people there before me, had watched SIX, moving in the same direction/orbit. I have never witnessed ANYTHING like it before in my life, and at that moment felt awestruck and amazed. I am fifty years old, a family man, I hold a responsible job, was once sceptical of such sightings,Iam no longer.

Last September I had a dramatic sighting of 2 black triangles. It was in the local press in the weeks afterwards and at least 2 other locals also saw the triangles. They were hovering just above the treetops next to the motorway! I stopped my taxi and got out, and they slowly, silently started to move towards me, then they both turned and headed up the motorway away from me, one splitting off to the right. They were each the size of a small passenger jet and were absolutely silent. It was awe-inspiring! They were so graceful, and something so big should not be silent when it's in the air, which was possibly the most eerie part of the whole experience.

In the early hours of this morning at approx 2:45am a bright green fireball appeared in the night sky with a white centre and a slight red hue around the edge moving downwards in a line towards the sea. It was only visible for a second and unfortunately my vision of where it went was obscured by a house. It was heading downwards (from my point of view) into the sea off Rhyl in the direction of the new wind turbines, roughly North to South. I could hear a jet in the sky at the time but couldn't see it, the stars were visible and there was little cloud. Also, the light didn't reflect off anything nearby or off any of the clouds. It seemed to appear from nowhere and quickly reach an intensity. Probably the weirdest thing I've ever seen in the sky. I'm interested that Matt Deeley and his father saw something on the same night - did anyone else see anything odd this morning?

One night at exactly 10 o'clock myself and five other friends saw orange glowing objects in the sky. They were the same distance apart and there must have been at least 20. As we gazed at them one dropped from the group and disappered from sight. And then they disappeared apart from three which were left. We looked away and then they were gone.

On the 29th of April 2009 00:15AM approx, I was sitting in my bedroom playing on my xbox 360. I looked out of my window only to see three bright orange lights travelling over Brownsea island in a westerly direction. I ran to my dad to tell him and he was already at the window wondering what on earth they were. They continued to move until they were no longer in our view, but suddenly another two followed in the same direction but they were closer to us. We got a video of them but it was hard to see. It appeared to purge some sort of spray out of the rear and then they too went out of our sight. Later that night at approx 01:44AM another one drifted along the same route the others had taken. This seemed to be on its own and it did the same as the other one before it, purges some sort of substance out and keep on going until out of view. We have no idea what these things were, they looked like balls of fire floating in the sky, whether this is a display of nature or something totally different, we will never know.

Last night 12/4/09 at about 22:45 my daughter and I noticed 5 bright orange lights in a vertical line in the sky. They followed each other quite slowly to a certain point then flickered and disappeared one at a time when they came to this same point. Just as the last one vanished, we noticed another one coming over the horizon. This was soon followed by another and another until there were six following the exact same path as the previous ones. They again vanished one at a time at the exact same point. Can anyone explain what this was? We're intrigued!

On the 24th Jan '09 at about 7.15pm I saw three very bright, orange lights in the sky. I was sitting in the kitchen, speaking to my mother on the telephone when I saw the lights approaching over the roof-tops - we live on the top of a hill and I could clearly see them approaching. At first I thought that they were helicopters (which regularly pass here) but realised that there was something diferent about them. I went into the garden for a better view, expecting them to have passed over the house by the time that I arrived outside. However, they had slowed right down and were by this time almost at the bottom of my garden, at about the same height that a low helicopter would fly at. By then I could see that they were very bright, orange globes. They were travelling south-west to north-east and there was no sound whatsoever. At this point I spotted a forth globe approaching swiftly from the same direction as the first ones had come from. Two of the original three then changed direction and headed off towards the north-west (Elesmere Port / Liverpool direction) while the third appeared to wait for the fourth one to catch up. As the forth grew nearer, the one that had waited slowly followed the first two, the forth then changed direction and followed. In all I watched them for possibly 5 minutes or more, providing my mother with a running commentary throughout. She continually made suggestions as to what they might be (weather balloons, aeroplanes etc etc) but I'm afraid that they did not look like any of these and were also not initially at those heights. As they moved away from me they rose higher and higher in the sky, finally disappearing into the night. I am so glad to have found other sightings posted as I could not believe that I was the only one to have seen them.

Hi me my family and pretty much the whole of my street have just seen 7 balls of what looked like fire in the sky! We have thought about the fact that they could have been hot air balloons, however they were much too big, furthermore we have though of the fact that they could have been paper lanterns with lights in however again they were much too big, as they passed a star in the sky they were at least double the star's size, so no chance that they were what we first thought! They all turned when they got to the same spot, and then disappeared. There was no noise whatsoever until the last one and then this one hovered high in the sky above our houses and then disappeared before our eyes. There was also no way that these objects were aircrafts such as planes or helicopters as like said before they were far too big, moreover they were much faster than an aircraft! If anyone has seen anything tonight in the same area could you please let me know on here. Thank you.

There were thousands of sightings reported to emergency authorities this past weekend all along the east coast of the US. All said it looked like "balls of fire". Some even heard an explosion of some sort. No one knows what it was. Weather people say it wasn't anything in nature...

Last night, 16 March '09 at approx 20.00hrs, I saw a huge bright orange light in the sky, travelling east from a south westerly direction. I ran out to my back garden with my girlfriend and my 12 year old son and we were all gobsmacked at what we were seeing. It was barrel-shaped (upright) and glowed bright orange, similar to a street light. Directly above my home is a stacking bay for Heathrow. The object was much lower than the aircraft that we could see circling and was perhaps the same height if not slightly lower than the aircraft that had just taken off in an easterly direction from London City airport. The object made no noise whatsoever and was moving quite fast in a direction that I wouldn't normally see any aircraft fly. My girlfriend took a photo of the object and my son managed to capture it on video using his mobile phone, although neither images are convincing. The object travelled east, getting smaller as it did so then disappeared.

I have noticed for a long time now that there is a bright light over my house most nights. It seems too near and bright for a star and it moves, sometimes it has been overhead, other times it has been in the distance. I have not seen it move it just appears in different places, mostly overhead. They were taken in Buckley, North Wales. So far I don't believe in UFOs and have not taken much notice of people who say they do. I am 63 and spend my time working part-time, babysitting my grandchildren, sewing and keeping myself to my! self, but this is making me curious.

About 3 years ago I was looking at the night sky, as I am an amateur astronomer. 3 very bright lights about the magnitude and color of Venus came over in formation. They must have been very large if they were reflecting sunlight. I was an avid unbeliever in UFOs but since seeing them I believe. There was definitely intelligent life on them as one flew out of formation and then back in, then they just disappeared as if they went into the Earth shadow. I know the stars and meteors and I know what the space station looks like. These were very strange and fast.

I saw 2 orange balls around 8.30pm on Sunday night. They were going at a steady speed, one in front of the other. There was no sound coming from them, and this is the second time I've seen these. Pretty much in the same area. Don't know what they are but they are doing my head in!

My boyfriend and I saw 2 red large UFOS on the way back from my work, Kingsmead Sainsbury's, and as we walked towards the new riverside houses across the field he pointed them out. One grew very bright, and white, then vanished. The other, after they had been hanging in the same spots for some time, raced away out of sight (still remaining red/orange) This was in broad daylight at about 4pm in August of 2008. After we had made it some way back to my student house, there were 4 police vehicles along Broad Oak Road, one was a van sat outside and the door was open, so we decided to ask what had happened. The guy was like "Nothing's wrong. Don't worry about it", and we went indoors. Out the window, the road opposite had been cordoned off, and people were looking out on their balconies. One woman was wearing like a white forensic suit, it was bizarre. 3 others were gathered around the wall, writing some kind of report. It freaked us out big time 'cause we thought something had landed. No-one was allowed down that road. In Canterbury! Scary. I'm sure a lot of people saw them, but I'm sure some people wouldn't report their sightings for fear of being considered quacks.I think a lot of people saw them, not sure how many reported though.

I was walking down Southwood Rd on the beach and saw a bright orange light moving at a rapid speed, too fast for a plane, had no flashing lights...weird. The second sighting was near the same place. My girlfriend lives on the beach front you see. Anyway there was a bright light appeared, it was moving quite slowly but had an orange streak like thing then it picked up speed quickly and then it was gone in a flash but the streak was just fading away. Crazy or what.

I, like a lot of people, have seen these glowing orangey red things in the sky. I have seen 6 now in the past month. My brother on his way to Wales tonight on the M42 also saw 2 of these things. All I would like to know is what are they?

3 orange balls, definitely round with what appeared to be a static flame inside, no flickering, no smoke. The first one seen above house and I got a good look. It moved off across - not up. Not a lantern, it gradually went up and it wasn't floating. It was deep orangey red.

About 8pm last night I was stood in my kitchen and [outside] I saw this bright orange light. It moved several times quite fast and then disappeared, then came back and didn't move, then moved again. It was not a plane as I know what the lights are like. It was so strange - very creepy.

I saw a floating long object with green and red lights. It may be an illusion but it looked very real to me. Do you know where I can find help to talk about my experience? I also felt a strong wind later that night that appeared supernatural.

About a month ago I was at my back door having my usual cigarette. It was between 5pm and 6pm. It had just started to get dark. In the sky, not very high up, was a large orange light. It looked very much like a star but I know it wasn't. It moved very slowly upwards and across the sky for about 3 minutes. I telephoned my sister, who lives upstairs, and I told her to look out of the window. Whilst I was on the telephone to her I put my flip flops on and went out into the garden to see if I could get a better look. As I moved out into the garden the light had vanished. Completely gone. There was no explanation for this. No noise. Def not a plane. I don't know what it was but it was definitely something.

I've just got home at 11.15pm and as I got out the car I watched at least 10 bright orange lights move slowly and in formation accross the sky until they disappeared, there was at least 6 of us witnessed this strange event.

Around August 2006 I was working late at a holiday resort near Rhuddlan. I had no transport to get home that night so usually I'd just walk the 2 mile journey. Somewhere between 3-4 o'clock the silence of the early morning was broken by the seagulls making the strange distressed sounds. Confused, I looked up to see if I'd disturbed them, and I kid you not I saw a huge bright light slowly moving east. I took a double take and it was still there. I just stood staring it was like nothing I'd seen before. I don't know what it was and I'm not willing to call it Alien but it certainly was something special. All my mates think I'm mad but I know what I saw. I just needed another witness. I like to think I saw a meteorite passing by.

Me and my friend were driving around North Bransholme and saw this orange light in the sky. I thought it was something on fire but it kept moving north-east. Then I thought it was a plane but they usually have two lights and make a noise, so that was ruled out. Then I thought the police helicopter but that always makes a right racket even at a further distance than this thing. So me and my friend decided to follow it to see if we could get a better look at it. We found it again and it seemed to be heading in our direction and still be above the houses and still silent, it curved smoothly and started to go higher. So we tried to follow it again but lost it.

Yer, I haven't seen this first hand myself but there are some videos of similar sites on youtube, posted by CNN news. One video shows two recordings ppl made, one in Mexico and one in India showing bright orange lights moving low across the sky. It's unclear how many there are as more seem to appear and some fade before becoming clear again. One actually looks as though it begins to descend behind a tree in the distance in the Mexico one.

Saw it again at 5pm (26 Jan). Unfortunately, couldn't get it on camera (as I noticed it, it disappeared!). Seems to be about dusk when it appears for some reason in pretty much the same area. This is the 3rd time Iseen this now, maybe 4th time lucky with a camera, heh?!

I saw the two orange orbs, as did my mum and partner just off the M62 on way home from Liverpool to St Helens Saturday 24th Jan 09 at approx 7.45. I though it was a plane from the airport but the lights didn't intermittently flash and weren't like that of a plane. Just a complete orange ball and another in close succession. Vanishing into oblivion after me watching them for about 2 minutes. We all thought it very stange! They were quite low.

Couple of weeks back I saw an orange light in the sky above Rhuallt Hill, near the A55. Thought it was a helicopter so carried on driving. Then a few days later saw the same thing in the same place. Spoke to my neighbour the other night and he said he saw a ufo the same time I saw this light. Defo gonna keep an eye out for it again, this time with a camera!

I was setting off on a jog when I noticed a really bright light in the sky. At first I did think it was just a plane but they where too bright. Then I was thinkng it may be the police helicopter but there was no noise. It seemed to hover for 5mins then move in short bursts. It could not have been a star because it was moving then hovering. It happened at 18:30 Friday 23rd Jan 2009 looking from St Helens towards Liverpool.

I observed a small red-orange ball moving from south to northeast, Jan.20, 2009. At three seperate spots I observed what looked like sparkling material coming down from the ball to the ground. I took my dog inside as I thought it strange and didn't want to get hit by whatever was coming down. I thought it to be a helicopter at first but as it moved toward me it had no noise. I went to get binoculars but it was gone when I came back outside. I find the whole episode somewhat unsettling.

On the 13th January 2009 I spotted a bright orange/red UFO above my house almost as though it was having a look through the living room window. Once I spotted it it appeared to fly away slowly at first and then very quickly. I followed it with my eyes into the distance until it turned extremely sharply (at least 90 degrees) to the left and zipped off upwards into the sky with awesome speed and manouverability. It moved too quicly too be a helicopter, private plane (eg Cesna) or Airliner. It had a speed and manouverability more comparable to a jet fighterbut it seemed much faster and more agile and was completely silent. There is no way this thing was a jet fighter because I would have heard the the jet engines especially with the speed it was travelling at. It's got me thinking especially due to the huge increase in UFO sightings recently and the fact that many of them describe a bright orange/red object moving with tremendous speed and manouverability. My brother witnessed everything so I wasn't hallucinating. Alien visitors?

When I finished work in the chip shop in Moreton at 11:47pm with my parents, I saw a weird bright shinging orb of light that was orange and slightly yellow. It was smoking slightly as well as moving at the same time. It was quiet and we didn't hear any noise. My parents were astonished by the sight.

On Friday 9.1.09 at about 21.20 I saw a round orange light similar to the colour of a street lamp, high up in the sky (but nowhere near as high as an aeroplane). It was moving horizontally, quite quickly from the south west across the sky to the north. It was not making any sound at all and it was a quiet night. I called my daughter and both of us watched it until the hill blocked our view. It kept the same speed up and moved in a straight line across the sky. It was only a couple of minutes before it was gone from our view.

In all seriousness, I must agree that what I saw must have been a Chinese lantern. Oddly enough that is what I thought I was seeing at first, but the spectacle lasted for so long that logic gave way to imagination and I assumed (never assume anything!) that a burning aircraft must be the next most logical explanation. After all, who in their right mind would send a large, well-fuelled incendiary device aloft over populated areas with the mindset that 'no harm will come of it'! What goes up must come down. Yes, I detest fireworks, downright dangerous and irresponsible if you ask me, or better still ask a firefighter. I'd sooner be visited by superior beings from Outerspace.

I have just seen something in the sky that if not strange, certainly requires some explanation. I was looking out if my kitchen door (Friday 9th Jan - about 9:30), and I spotted an orange globe in the sky. It was moving in a south to north path accross the sky. Then a short way behind it came a second orange ball taking exactly the same path, promptly followed by a third. Not quite believing what I was seeing, I went inside and asked my daughter to join me. We both went into the front garden as the globes had now passed over. We then noticed three more following, equidistant from each other, making six in all. There was no noise, (not a helicopter or planes), and they had a dull orange glow which seemed to pulse rather then a constant light. Certainly they were all following the same route, eventually going higher into the sky before we lost sight of them. We are sure that many others must have seen them. Can anyone offer any explanations?

My daughter and our neighbour came running in on Thursday (8th) around 8.15pm and shouted come and look at this! My son and myself went out and at great height in the sky was what can only be described as one of these fireballs! Certainly not an aircraft of any sorts and not a Chinese latern! We watched for around ten minutes with this object glowing and moving ever so slightly! I can't say what it was and the kids were asking me "what is it" but that's certainly a first for me! In the end the 'fireball' just died down as such and vanished! Beats me what it was!

I was out with friends on the evening about 8 or 9 o clock on the 7th of Jan. I noticed a light in the sky almost like a police helicopter light but with no sound. It was very bright like a fireball. Maybe like a street light in the distance but 400 or 500ft in the air. As I watched it for 10 seconds it did not move and had lights beeming down like a police helicopter but the shining light span around a 360*. As I was with my friends, I was still in the same place with them, and iI kept my eye on it. And used a fence pole as a landmark to see if this thing moved! For an hour or two it stayed in the same place at the 500ft in the sky and still didn't move. Then the fireball like object just disappeard after the hour an a half of me noticing it! I saw this over Towyn/Belgrano Way. I was in Kinmel Bay at the time.

It was new years eve 2008/09 at approximatley 12.20 after the firworks on Fishguard Square. I was walking home with a neighbour and I noticed a fireball moving in the sky. We hadn't even had a drink. I wondered if it was a plane on fire. I had never seen anything like it before. By the time we had got to the house it was gone.

A few days ago I managed to capture 3 orange lights in the sky on tape. My frends and I watched them for 40mins before they vanished. Sunday 28th December 10.15pm I saw a an orange ball of light in the sky travelling slowly from the ESE. I thought it was a plane but the size and colour of the light was wrong. I called my husband and we both watched it travel slowly to the NW. The light was low in the sky, travelling slowly and looked like it was flickering. There was no engine noise from a plane or helicopter or microlite. It couldn't be a hot air balloon or blimp, no structure could be seen, no sound heard. It followed a wavering path to the NW, not like a plane would fly and eventually disappeared into the cloud in the distance. I've only just found this website or I would have asked earlier if anyone knew what it was.

I was watching the new year's fireworks from my window at about 12:05 when me and my partner saw 3 red/orange lights in the sky. They were moving very slowly and in weird formation under the low cloud, it was very strange. But I had seen these lights before, usually late at night. What could it be, I would love to know?

Chill out everyone, what you are seeing is Chinese lanterns which seem to be very popular this Christmas and new year. Basically people are placing lighted candles under a plastic bag (much like a small hot air balloon) and letting them float off in small groups. Try it yourselves and see what the results are.

On new year's eve we were watching the fireworks. We saw what I thought was a flare at first but it was moving fairly slowly heading south down the coast. We ran upstairs to get a better look at this bright red object then upon looking again I saw 3 more in a triangle formation. They were all travelling in the same direction then they just seemed to fade away. Most unusual but I suppose we will never know eh? But we will be keeping our eyes peeled in future lol.

On 1st January 2009, upon leaving the pub at 12:55 am, myself and my girlfriend Jane also saw 4 bright orange lights, three in a triangle formation the fourth trailing behind, no noise, moving very slowly, heading north-east, above the Trafford Centre in Manchester. We were in Davyhulme area, as we had both had a drink we shouted our 2 teenage daughters, who had been babysitting for their niece close by, they too saw them. Also, we had a seen a similar light a few days previously. This was witnessed by myself my partner and daughter. Again no noise, moving very slowly then just seemed to disappear. There seems to be lots of sightings similar on new year's eve and Christmas time. Is this a sign? Are we really alone?

Re-Kate & Sue; Monday evening at about 19.12hrs I saw what I could only describe to my wife to come and see, as a burning aircraft travelling West to East, seemingly in a 'ball of fire'. I observed it for maybe 20 seconds as it continued on its flightpath until it disintegrated as one large chunk of red followed by a small bright fireball and then died out. It must surely have hit the ground in the Queensferry area. We expected to hear news of an air disaster but no such like has appeared in the news. Otherwise as all the other 'sightings' suggest - aliens are crap pilots!

On the 25th of December my mum called me out into the back garden to say she could see something in the sky that looked like it was on fire. I came out into the garden to see, it was in the direction of West Kirby. At first we thought it was a helicopter, then it seemed to stop, so we thought it was a fire lantern. After returning to work after the Christmas period I spoke to a workmate and he said he had witnessed the same thing. It really is like an episode of the X Files.

Last night about 6.10pm (05/01/09) we saw an orange light in the sky, hovering - something seemed to break off it and fall to the ground. Then shortly after this the orange light followed. From Kyle, Stu and Sam of the great Portsmouth city - we seem to have seen a similar object but from the Wirral side - looking across the river Dee to Wales. We drove down to the river front but could see nothing as it was so dark!

Approx 8.15pm on 26th Dec 2008 I was outside when I saw a very bright big orange light go across the sky at a moderate pace, no sound at all, it seemed quite low. I ran to the side of the road to see if I could see anyone else, but no! I watched the light for a quite a few minutes head over towards Trent Bridge, before it disappeared out of sight. I am convinced it wasn't a usual plane, there were no flashing lights - just one big orange ball! Anyone else see anything? No, I hadn't been drinking!

My partner and I saw a silent orange/red sparkling object over Bersham area on Christmas night. It stayed in view for 3 mins then moved off under the low cloud. It was NOT a plane - seen thousands of planes, not a falling star, it hung in the sky for mins. No, it was VERY strange and completely silent.

We were sat up on top of Portsdown Hill and we saw an orange light come up out of nowhere and it was fying around in the sky then it suddenly burst into what looked like flames and just dropped to the ground within feet of us but when we looked we couldn't see anything and we got pictures of it and videos as this happened about 10 times over all and we sat there for an hour and a half watching them, strange.

I saw two orange lights in the sky to the south just after midnight - I called my husband to look - he tried to film them on his mobile but could not pick them up. They just faded. We then saw another one to the North which travelled above us and disappeared. I was talking to my sister who lives on the Isle of Man on new years day - she said she had also seen the lights on new years eve.

Tonight I saw my first ufo. Like a lot of the stories below, it was a bright orange light travelling through the sky, and as it got closer it got smaller? That doesn't really make sense, but it eventually got so small that it disappeared. I'm in london, not sure if any one else saw the same thing. I was with a few people who could say the same, so I'm definitely not imagining what I saw! Argh, so excited.

On 28th Dec observed a glowing orange light fairly low in the sky travelling towards West Kirby from Saughall Massie where we were located. It had no noise and was moving fairly fast, we watched it for several minutes until it eventually disappeared. Thought it was a bit weird however I saw the same thing again last night 3/1/09 over West Kirby, me and a freind watched it come to a stop and then slowly get smaller and smaller until it disappeared. I'm a sceptic but I have no explanation as to what this was. I ruled out plane, helicopter (no noise), Chinese lantern (it stopped and was too high), fireworks (it was in the sky for a long time). Really interested to see if anyone else has seen anything like this.

On xmas eve on leaving the house at 10pm we stood outside for a few minutes looking at a bright light over our local hospital. It seemed to have a darker dome with what we thought was a balloon. It stayed there, quite low and as it was a very quiet evening were puzzled why we could not hear the burners, it made no sound at all. After a while it moved upwards and disappeared. We had not been drinking but as it was that time of the year did not make any enquiries. This was not the first time for me to see these UFOs, I have seen two, but in daylight.

At approx 10.10pm on Saturday, observed three orange/red objects in the sky, two in close proximity, with the third a distance away. They faded out one by one (after about three minutes) and then one returned, moved at various speeds and then was gone. Anyone else see similar?

Very strange to hear a lot of people seeing a number of orange glowing flying objects. I was at a party (the mother-in-laws) on new years eve (2008). Not long after midnight, about 20 minutes (00:20) while we were all out side watching the firework display I noticed one orange glow coming out just below the low clouds. At first I thought it's a plane, but planes don't have orange lights. A couple of seconds later, following the first one was another, then another two. All disappeared one by one into the low clouds never to be seen again.

My mates and I were ALL sober at the time and I was the one that originally first noticed it, it was flying over the pt Adelaide police station...and it looked like a BIG bright orange star. I wasn't sure so I asked a mate of mine to look as well, he looked and said wow that thing is cruising (going fast) anyway we kept watching it and it flew for a bit then STOPPED in mid air and it started pulsing going very bright then very dim and etc. When it went very dim it came back very bright...then all of a sudden it was like the bottom of it had exploded and a fire ball fell out of the star like thing. We looked back up and the first star thing was still there stopped in mid air. We looked back down and the fire ball was sill falling. Then both of them just vanished. It was a very clear night sky. There were low clouds and this UFO was flying under the clouds very low. It was AMAZING. I wish I had recorded it but everyone in the car said that they were hypnotised to it they couldn't take their eyes off it. There is no way this could have been a plane. It was silent and stopped in mid air. It was bright amber coloured and didn't stick around for too long! None of us were drinking or smoking anything, all sober! Very curious about what we saw since you don't get this too much in Adelaide.

My wife and I where camping at Chertsey Camping and Caravanning Site on NYE just after midnight, sober, 12.20ish. Another two couples stopped us and asked us what we thought this object was. It was a round vessel high in the sky, not an aeroplane or star or firework. It had orange lights in a circle, there was no sound/noise. it was stationary for 10 minutes and then a further 4 mins, it went smaller as if moving away from us and then suddenly shot off into the atmosphere. My husband is a twin, and his other twin rang tonight 2/1/2009 and told us he saw a similar vessel in the sky over Prescot in Merseyside. At first we thought he was joking thinking he had heard our experience, but he swore on several things that it was the truth, unbelievably in the past what happens to one twin happens to the other! I spoke to my sister in law and she also confirmed what she saw, how weird is this.

I was leaving my friend's house at approx 12.30 am on New Years eve with my husband and children when I looked up for fireworks. As it was a cloudless night, the stars were very clear. Amongst them was what looked like a star that was glowing orangy/red. I pointed out to my husband who seemed to think it was moving very slowly. As we got the children in the car, I kept looking at the very strange bright object. But I had to put my head in the car to fasten my daughter in her car seat. When I looked back it was gone. We looked and there was no evidence of it ever being there. And if it was moving very slowly we should have been able to see it somewhere in the sky and it wasn't anywhere. Did anyone else see them over Ashton under Lyne area on new years eve?

Myself and my husband were watching TV last night (30 Dec 08) when all of a sudden we noticed a very bright orange light in the sky. As we are in the flight path of Manchester Airport we thought it was a plane on fire, and ran out of the house to look, I also took the video camera & recorded what appeared to be a burning light travelling north, with no sound. Did anyone else witness this?

New year's eve 2008-2009 not sure of exact time but it was late at night possibly 12-3am. A bright orange dot was noticed by me and my friends just above the horizon. I first thought it was a firework but as it was so slow and lasted so long this was ruled out. It moved up slowly until it reached pretty much straight above us. Then flickered a few times and disappeared. It was visible for around 2-3 minutes. We don't think it was a plane due to its colour but more to the point, it was really foggy and cloudy. If it were a plane, it would have had to have been really low for us to see it so clearly but there was no noise to hear. A friend of mine had seen two others that night, I only saw the one. I have no idea what it was and id love to find out. The idea of it being and alien spacecraft is a ridiculous assumption but it has baffled me. I don't believe it to be a Chinese sky lantern as it was travelling way too fast, plus I do not believe a candle flame would be bright enough to see so clearly so far away in such dense cloud and fog.

We had just seen the 2009 New Year in and looked out of a window which faces south. We saw one orange light in the sky which hovered for about 4 minutes in the same location and then moved away slowly until it was very faint. Then another orange light approached rapidly from a different direction until it reached the original location of the first light. At this point the first light then vanished. The second light hovered for a short period of time and this eventually faded upwards into the night sky. These were definitely not aircraft or fireworks and we were sober. Did anyone else see them?

On new year's eve 2008/2009 whilst getting some fresh air in our garden at 1am new year's eve/new year's day I looked up and saw in a line, what looked like 6 floating balls of fire going east. When I saw the first one clearing the house across the street I immediately thought it was a helicopter on fire but very soon realised it was not making any noise or coming down just floating east and accelerating about 20mph followed by the other 5 250 yrds apart. Half the sky over Blackburn was clear and half cloud covered so they were in view for about 5 minuits. I don't drink, don't do drugs, but I wanted sombody else as witness to this so I got my pensioner father up to have a look at them but by this time the last of the first six were in the clouds and he just caught the last one fading into the cloud cover but no more than 2 mins later another 4 passed over at exactly the same speed, height and I would say flight path. We both tried to explain it away to each other rationally ie manned balloons, battlefield rocket flares but I don't think we in any way convinced each other. There was no wind, never mind a 20mph wind, and the fires, lights whatever they were were gaining height and speed. I am hoping it will be explained away but this is nothing ordinary or normal.

I was in the garden last night (NYE) it was abot 12:20am new years day, we ran outside with sparklers and champagne and the camcorder and I actually caught this burning orb on my camcorder! It wasn't something explainable that's for sure!

I have just this moment seen a UFO! It was coming fairly low in the night sky through the glow of fireworks, an orangey-red ball with a yellow underside, getting nearer and nearer, it seemed. Then it suddenly stopped and moved slightly first to one side, then the other. Then it began to get smaller, very rapidly, as though it was going away from me at a fantastic rate until it just kind of blinked out from a pinpoint into the cloud cover! I was very careful to observe to see if it was some king of firework, but I am positive it was nothing of the kind. I also tried to discern if it was a police helicopter, but it was too unusual and unique - there are a lot of copters here. We are about 4 miles north of Blackpool - very strange.

Oh my god, I went outside around 2 minutes to midnight and saw 2 bright lights, after around 3 seconds they then moved towards each other and swapped places then disappeared, how freaky!

31st December 2008, 22:15. We were coming home in the car when we saw an orange ball moving in the sky at a steady pace, at first we thought it was a plane or helicopter on fire, but when we stopped and got out of the car we saw that it wasn't making any noise. It certainly looked as if it was on fire, until it eventually disappeared slowly... Very strange!
