Flying building!

Last updated: 29 January 2009

Ufologist Margaret Fry explains the case of the flying building. Was it a UFO or could there be a simple explanation?

March 31 1998 0420 hours
- a retired builder, awoken by the howling of his pet dog, went outside where the animal was being kept and was met by an extraordinary sight.

Flying Building! For hovering 400 ft above him was a 40ft long light grey oblong craft on the belly of which were bright red shafts of light beaming down towards him.

At the top of the craft, described as looking like a portable building, were two oblong beams of blue light.

Along the length of the craft were 11 windows with rounded ends. The man describes what appears to be headlights on the craft. He describes them as "ordinary bulb-type" lighting. He says he watched as the vessel buzzed and hummed overhead before disappearing away from his Denbighshire village home towards the Clwydian Range.

UFO investigator Margaret Fry, from Abergele, said: "This is the sort of perfectly reliable report the sceptics quickly pass over.

"But I have had a number of reports from different people in the same village over the years."

The first dates back to 1979 when pub locals reported seeing a craft land nearby.

A few days ago, me and a friend were fixated on a bright orange light in the sky that was definitely not a star. My friend called his brother on the phone who told us to look directly above us, when we did we saw another bright orange light identical to the other flying across the sky faster than a plane but silent. It then curved to the right and flew directly upwards at I high speed. I have always been sceptical of UFOs until I saw that.

I deplore scepticism for the sake of sceptisism. On August 8, 2008, I was on 8:30 am break at work, North of Ft. Worth, staring out the back door toward the downtown skyline and saw a huge grey object slowly moving across the sky from East to Westfor about 20 seconds. The object appeared for all the world to be a 3 level parking garage as I could see skylight through horizontal slits in its structure...no lights or discernible sound from that distance in early morning daylight. As that was my only impression and as it seemed to be about 1/4 mi away, my only judgement would be approx 150 ft in length 60 ft in height and moving something like 40 mph, but that is just a guess based on what it appeared to be as I watched. It was very near to moving behind the building next door and I ran to tell the two workers on break in the other part of the building to take a look (no more than 30 feet away). We waited for whatever it was to move into view and there was nothing more to see. They joked of course and the sight plagued me for quite a while. I had almost given up thinking about it until I viewed Episode 20 of UFO Hunters on the History channel on Nov. 6, 2008 and couldn't believe that I had seen almost exactly what they were covering on that show. I've always wanted to see a bona fide UFO and have had my doubts but I never thought the form it would take would be that of a floating grey building structure... So I'll just add this to the list of other sightings of such a thing. Wonders never cease.

This is very funny if you ask me, was this shed made from paper? Or is everyone as daft as I am.

He could have been suffering from the effects of the imbibing of too much of the local evening nutritive drink. I will lay a bet on it :)

This was probably due to a high pressure gas that was coming out of the ground and lifted up a grarden shed. Wales is full of radon gas in the rocks.

You could have dreamed it, but if you didn't...

I have regularly seen UFOs in the cwm bucan mountain Range near Harlech North Wales, high altitude lights similar looking to stars but moving much slower than a shooting star, then would then rapidly change direction and disappear. In one evening I have spotted in excess of five separate objects each time I have visited. I have even taken my friends to view the objects.

Howdy. First I would like to say thank you for your wonderful web site. Having a web cam is such a cool idea. We still get sightings from New Mexico and southern Colorado. Universal Love Ya'll

hmmm weird looked like a structure that was on a hill in Ayrshire, near Carrick hills by Turnberry. A structure just as the described picture above but not flying but sort of hovering on the hill...could be mistaken for a house as it was close to the ground. But just the description made me think about it again.
