One of the earliest recorded incidents was in the spring of 1964 at Denbigh Castle which is said to be a site of regular hauntings, but this was no grey lady, writes Margaret Fry.
A woman had allowed her pet dog on the grass outside the castle late at night when, out of sight, she heard it yelp as if in pain.
The woman said she saw a beam of light focused on the dog and as she picked up the animal she said she received a burning sensation on her arm which had come into contact with the light.
The woman suffered no long term damage and neither did the dog which, she claims, was also burned. No conclusions have been drawn from this case which is one of several strange sightings in Denbigh.
Another was made in the summer of 1974 when two women leaving Denbigh Hospital claimed to have seen a round bright orange light hanging in the sky for several minutes before rocketing away at great speed.
A further sighting from someone outside the hospital was made in 1984 and a similar one later in 1994. There have also been sightings over Denbigh Moors. A woman, along with a friend, says she saw a UFO on Denbigh Moors on July 5 1984 at midday.
The Welsh Federation of Independent Ufologists maintain that a similar UFO sighting was made by another person who claims to have seen such a craft on Sussex Downs in March 1983. The image (top) is based on that sighting.

Tub Tomlinson, Who in this day and age would mistake a street light for a UFO? Getting back to UFOS within the Denbigh area, I have had a number sightings where I live. I often see fog like forms walking across the fields at midlight with bright green beams of light following them on every 13th of a month. Has anyone else seen anything similar?

Whilst on exercise in Denbigh area summer 97. I saw a large triangular object. It flew right passed me. Unfortunately, I was alone. It was so silent and moving at a considerable speed. A number of lights were shining from its underside! Whats makes this sighting unusual, is years before during the gulf war 91 I, and a small group of others, saw the same object. Choose to believe me or not - I don't really care. This is the first time I've mentioned this. I very much doubt I'll speak of it again. Good luck to all that seek!

As I was walking home from cooking class, a large white light shone on me from above. At the time I was very frightened but my fears soon came to an end when I noticed it was a street lamp. But I still have my doubts!

Anybody who may experience green lights up on the Denbigh Moors/Cambrian mountains and especially on or around a bank holiday needs to rule out lazers as we use them at forest parties. Also, if you see a glowing dome on the ground, he he!! that may be mine, a geodesic dome the framework is colour coded in three uv reflective colours will be lit by two 500watt uv cannons. It's a chill out area or it may have a sheet over and then there would be assorted lights inside, so if ya see this, don't run...come down and join the party. Some of the parties are put on by the lien Resonance crew from Wirral. Oh, you can leave when you want to, we're human beings. Also, just in case you think I'm just taking the mick, well I'm as interested in ufos as much as any one else but that's another story.

One day me and my friend where playing football for school, it was getting dark, so we decided to go home. When I pointed out to my friend a moving star, it was travelling faster than a plane however only just. When suddenly it disappeared. Then a few minutes later we both saw a comet looking shape, a lot like a rugby ball, but was bright red and was travelling incredibly slow almost not moving at all. We left it after looking at it for a few minutes trying to figure out what it was. I thought it was a comet however it was around 20 metres above the ground. No comet could be that low to the ground!

Speaking to a local in Denbigh, the reason he thinks there are so many alien visitations, is that of pirate gold and treasure, many pirate ships were wrecked on these shores, and these were obviously observed from outer space by these 'green men', they are searching for this treasure using metal detectors far advanced than the Radio shack ones available to mere mortals, and they also collect the loose change dropped by the public melting them down as a source of fuel for their long journey home.

In 1949 I was a pupil of Fron Goch Infants school and whilst I was going back into school after playtime I looked back and saw a flying saucer fly down the length of the brook that runs behind the school near where the new police station is now. In those days helicopters were virtually unknown and it was too small (about 6ft dia) to be an aircraft and too big to be a bird. The teachers also saw it and stood there for quite some time. I also saw more when playing in the castle grounds and in the 'rec' at the bottom of town. Anyone beat this?

Whilst studying at a boarding school in Denbigh I saw a hovering light over the castle walls. When moving up the back stairs towards the castle the light began to flicker then it eventually evaporated. Later that night zipping lights appeared across the valley moving too fast for planes but too slow for astronomical lights.

I used to play in a band that rehearsed in the cricket pavilion in the grounds of Denbigh hospital, back in the late 80's when the hospital was still open. One warm night, during a break in rehearsal, myself and other members of the band were smoking on a balcony outside the pavilion that looked towards a valley. As we watched, an oval orange object appeared in the night sky over the valley, seeming to be hovering about 4 miles away. We were fascinated by it as none of us could guess what it was... Soon after it suddenly appeared to move away extremely quickly and we could see it no longer. I've no idea what it was.
