A friend and I saw a larger than life black feline in daylight walking beside a hedgerow at the bottom of a field between Redstone Hollow Cemetery, Redhill, and Philanthropic Lane, Redhill, in Surrey approx 3.5ft long and it had the definite walk of a cat characterised by the dumping of the shoulderblades with each step that it took. We saw it it was there.

I was driving along the Bodfari to Denbigh road at around 22.10 when I saw a large black cat which I would swear was a panther. I saw it for about 3 seconds in the headlights as it ran along the roadside before disappearing into a side lane. It wasn't a badger, fox, dog or any other creature, I am 99.99% certain it was a panther.

Nearly everyone on this page appears to have seen big cats. I have made a list of all the locations they have apparently been sighted and there are over 25 sightings in just the UK. Are you guys really trying to tell me that there are 25 big cats out there? Some of them are real but most are a load of rubbish. WHY DO YOU BOTHER!

I saw what seems to match your description. It was at night, I was driving on a back county road, seen something out of the corner of my eye. I drove around the 8 mile square, upon returning to the spot, I was following another car from out of the county. His wife, and him also saw this strange animal for our area, it was carrying a small baby deer in its clinches. The gentleman in the lead car came back and questioned me about the sighting. I agreed that indeed I too had seen it. He informed me that his wife, and him drive that road a lot, and see a lot of weird stuff.

I saw two panthers, I was abbout 10 metres away. They were running away from something, it may have been me they were running from but they stopped and looked at me and walked away. I ran home and after half an hour I went back to where I saw them and found a few dead sheep who looked like they had been dragged.

I don't know what we saw but it was a pretty big black cat it was definitely bigger then any other moggy I have ever seen. It could have been a wildcat but you never know. By the way we saw it in the black mountains in south Wales, my sister saw it too. I know we saw it because there have been other sightings in the area.

Are these mystery out of place animals a temporal leak into our exsistence eg by Primeval type anomalies into which they inevitably disappear back to, so creating myths, legends and urban folktales?

I was a student in Wrexham around 1999, and remember on several occasions visiting the heritage park on the outskirts. Around June/July, myself and some friends found several mutilated sheep. The claw marks on the animals were huge, and very deep. These were not done by a dog. So surprised in fact, that we took photos of the animals, as every now and then one would appear. On one occasion we ventured upon a field where a group of sheep were staring at this very large creature, that was simply sat basking in the midday sun. We didn't get too close, as we had suspected that we had found the culprit. It looked a little like a lioness, though I couldn't be certain. It's a shame we didn't have the camera that day.

I have seen a large black cat (3-4ft long 1 1/2-2ft high) several times in Surrey. The first time near Reigate Hill next to the M25 with a witness in the morning sunlight in 1988; The second time was whilst out shooting by torchlight (Feb 1996) - an encounter which was very frightening - it approached me, doubled back around me and we had a staring contest for a good few seconds whilst it stood on its rear legs waying me up (Just stood still and pointed my gun at it) - it then walked off on four legs zig-zagging and kept looking back until it leapt a 6ft hedge and disappeared into the night; again a year later when something took a rabbit from its cage and it was seen by me and a friend in his car headlights 1/2 mile from the scene; and then finally running across a field (Summer 2005) at dusk when both me and my wife saw it at the same time in Chobham, Surrey - I lit it up with a 400,000 candle power spotlight 75-100 yards away and got the reflection of its eyes. Since then no more sightings (I think it has died as it looked rather mangy that time with a very barely fur covered tail and painfully thin]. Report sent to the British Big Cat Society

I've seen the 'North Wales big cat' - twice. The first time was around 8 years ago, it was opposite my house which has a large wooded area on a hill. I saw something large and blackish moving through the undergrowth. A few weeks later I came across a carcass of a dead sheep that had been completely disemboweled (Not sure if this is a characteristics of a dog attack or big cat) and this was only a few hundred yards from where I saw this animal. The most recent time I saw this animal was 2 days ago whilst I was walking through woodland behind my house. I saw a large black animal fleeing in the opposite direction I was coming from. I attempted to film the animal on my phone but it had gone into some bushes.

I was driving out of Oswestry towards Gobowen when driving past the farm drive ways on the left, something big and black caused me to brake very suddenly. It was walking very slowly. I initially thought it was a big dog but it had a longer tail and walked in a cat like way with a longer body than a dog, and short shiny black hair. It continued to cross the road towards the railway line and main road way.

Travelling home about three weeks ago at approx 1am we were on the road to St Martins from the Gledrid roundabout when we saw a very large black animal. On approaching Rhyn Park School we turned around and went back to look but it had disappeared at the bottom of the hill by the bridge. It was definitely very large and no, I had not been drinking, hence I was driving!

Well, I can't believe what I am reading. My husband tells me I am imagining things. But obviously, I am not. I have been watching from my lounge window, with binoculars, a large black animal, the size of a retriever (I think) but moving about and having features like a cat. It caught my attention because it was out on the "Level" on its own. (Not the usual dog and owner following). It was an unusually warm day, just before the snow came, and I was looking out over the valley and saw this cat sunning itself in a little clearing. I watched for half an hour, it got up a few times and padded about. It was definitely not a dog but too big for a regular cat. Has anyone else seen a big black cat around there?

I'm not sure if all you UK people would know about the Tasmanian tiger, but it is a tiger, obviously, found only in southern Australia, including the island-state of Tasmania. It looks like a large dog with stripes and long snout. These are supposedly extinct, along with numerous other animals. However, one night my father was driving from a place called Swan Hill to Melbourne. It was a dark night, and he had his headlights on low so as to avoid startling any kangaroos on the road. All of a sudden he was forced to stop because there was a large, dog-like creature with stripes on its back on the road, staring straight at him. It then turned and went back into the bush. The area he was driving through was secluded bushland, so who knows? If an extinct Australian tiger can exist, why not big cats or werewolves etc?

I believe that these sightings are down to very large field mice, not "big cats". It is a scientifically supported fact that over the last 50 years, fieldmice have increased in size by over 10,000% and have become carnivorous. Experts believe that this is due to a combination of the increased use of insecticides by farmers, the destruction of their natural habitat, and, more recently, the collapse of the global economy.

We recently had a farmer complaining of losing livestock, sheep remains were found that looked like they had been ripped apart and eaten by a wild animal of some size. The farmer was convinced it was a large non-domestic cat that had done it! Their farm is quite isolated and has lots of forests nearby. Then about 6-8 miles away several sightings of a black panther were reported in the local paper by people that seem very convinced by what they saw - it's now being dubbed the Horeb Panther. Surely with all these unconnected incidences there has to be something in it but how can they (Big Cats) be so elusive and not seen more often!??

Myself and my family were in the Ponderosa Cafe on the Horseshoe Pass a couple of years ago, when a van driver came in, in a visibly shaken state claiming to have seen a large mountain lion-type cat eating a rabbit on the verge of the road on the bend up the road from the cafe. This was mid afternoon.

These big cat stories are fascinating, but not as weird as this. My daughter and her friend swear they saw a chimp in broad day-light; it was walking calmly up the bumpy lane by the side of the woods, (the lane near Dobshill garage that's got the A55 footbrige on it)!

Ourselves and the family were out sledging one Christmas up the Horseshoe Pass. We had the car parked at the bottom of a slope with the lights shining up hill. We were all at the top of the hill about to sledge down but as we were getting the sledges in place one or two of us spotted a slow striding large cat like figure. It was with no doubt too big for a domestic cat and the wrong shape body for any common breed dog. Instantly we branded the animal as a big cat but with not being close enough to elaborate on detail, we could never be 100% sure but the distance we were from the animal was about 150 metres and we were amazed at the size of it. We would appreciate any comments on this matter.

We was walking through a field in Leeswood one day when all of a sudden we heard footsteps pacing behind us. We turned around and saw a big black cat behind us. I was walking up parsons walk on the 28 July 2008, and in the distance a black figure was getting closer, at first I thought it was a dog so I just carried on walking. It then looked up and saw me, walked a few more paces forward then jumped into the bush it was next to. I doubted what I had seen until I saw the size of it - it was at least a foot tall and also the size of its tail must have been 2-3 foot long. The reason I think it was the panther is because I've looked at numerous pictures and this what I say definitely matched the description. The reason I never reported this to the police is because they would have just have laughed and it would have been rather embarrassing. Also some people have spotted this before round my area mainly round the quarry!

Me and my family saw a big cat or something that looked like one walking suspiciously across a field. 3 days later a swan was dragged out of a canal and dragged across a road and left in a hedge. Of course it was dead, but the night after the meat of the body was gone and it had been left in another hedge. What do you think?

I was traveling back home from Llandegla on 4th July 2008. As I came off the moors, just before the 'Liver Pub' (I think the A5104), I saw the haunches of an animal, it was black, approximately the size of a black Labrador dog, but definitely feline. The tail was quite long but much fatter than a normal domestic cat. As it heard my car approach, it leaped over a stone wall and disappeared. I have heard stories of large cats on the moors & surrounding hills, but never actually seen anything. This was a very big cat - who knows?

There is little doubt that big cats are roaming wild throughout the UK. The unfortunate few that have been hit by cars or shot over the years prove this. Also, the numbers of sheep carcasses that turn up with obvious big cat 'kill' signs on them. It is not surprising there aren't more sightings as they are shy animals that are hard enough to find when in their native surroundings. When you think about it why wouldn't a non native large cat not thrive in the UK. There is an abundance of food with all the livestock farming and no other large predators to compete with. Also much of the UK is still largely undeveloped countryside.

hmmm...if native British wildcats (a distinct species growing to nearly twice as large as the domestic cat) are known to be living in the remote parts of Scotland, then could anyone be surprised if there is still a wildcat population in remoter parts of Wales and the English Pennines? If they were thought to be extinct in Wales and England, then nobody's hunting or otherwise persecuting them, and the remnant of the species has had a chance to build its numbers and thrive unmolested. It makes sense that a species thought to have been driven to extinction, but which has had a breathing space to breed its numbers up again, should now start to be seen by human beings in greater numbers - most of us, of course, have never seen a native British wildcat and can only say that if it's appreciably bigger than a domestic moggie, it must be one of the larger feral cat species (as we're familiar with these from TV and zoos, etc).

We were at Whittington Castle on 9th May 2008. We were about to leave when my wife jumped out of the car shouting big cat. When I looked across to where she was pointing, sure enough only 200yds away along the tree line in the old orchard was a sandy cougar-like animal ambling quite slowly along the trees. There were cows feet away on the other side of the trees and they were not spooked at all. The big cat looked our way and didn't seem bothered by us. There were lots of people around and a children's play ground nearby. My wife ran after it to get a closer look and it slinked off into the stream and disappeared from sight. This cat was at least 4ft long head to tail and around 2ft in height, definitely looked like a cougar. We were close enough to see it very clearly and for around 2 minutes.

On Sat 26.4.08 we were travelling in the car from Llangollen, we were between Llandegla and Pontybodkin and it was about 3pm. In the distance I could see two jet black animals cat-like in appearance, they were about 2 1/2 times the size of a domestic cat. What was interesting was the fact that there were cows in the immediate area and they did not seem at all bothered by these animals - in my opinion they are obviously used to seeing them. I feel they could have been the notorious 'black cats'. Judging by the response of people on this website they do exist = I wonder if they are maybe some mutation of a domestic cat and a wild animal?

Six years ago I used to drive the Mold Denbigh road at night, 2-3am. I saw the famous black cats several times. The size reported is incorrect, they are about twice the size of a domestic cat and appear to be breeding as on one occasion I saw a mother and kitten together. They are completely black and resemble domestic cats but twice the size.

To be honest nobody can tell whether or not any of these stories are true. You're getting people being judgemental about other people's sightings and explanations. I think that everyone should just wait until there is secured evidence to prove these cats living in our surroundings areas

I was told that my friends saw a big black cat (panther like). At first I did not believe them but then me and my mates looked it up and asked around and then from the answers we got we then started to believe them. People were saying that there were school pupils actually attacked by the big black creature. Then I saw a 7 year old girl being attacked by the creature so I kicked the animal away from the young girl then I helped the girl home. The wound was not bad as there was a couple of scratches and a non deep bite mark (no blood).

In Feb this year I was driving with my boss the half mile to the site we were working when we saw a large black cat aprox 2.5 to 3.0 metres in length about 150 metres away. We are both country men and shoot regularly so are used to seeing all manner of wildlife but this was not a domestic animal nor a natural creature of this country. The following morning I took my shooting range finder with me and was shocked to find that the creature we had seen was 343 meters from where we had seen it so it may have been larger than we estimated. It was a large lean animal with a tail roughly the same length as its body.

At 9.30pm, Wednesday 29th August 2007, I saw a 'big cat'-type creature, about the size of a large alsation, jet black with a very long tail, definitely not a standard household cat or dog! I was driving home on the Selby bypass when it ran across the road and into the fields on the left handside. I got a clear view as the black coat of the animal reflected the light from the street lights. I was that sure of what I'd seen. I contacted the police who sent a gentleman round who specialised in 'big cat' sightings and he identified the description as a black leopard/panther! I didn't ever believe other sightings before but I most definitely do now!

We live at the end of a mountain road at the entrance to the National Park. Behind our home is a fire trail that runs behind the neighbourng properties and up the hill. Many of them have dogs and goats. There are two mountain ridges directly behind us and the Grose Valley, very wild country. About 2 weeks ago, my partner and I were lying in bed, it was midnight and the bush surrounding us was quiet and very dark. Suddenly we heard the heard the dogs go off and then quiet. The most unearthly scream then howled through the night. Very high pitched and almost painful, very mournful. I knew it was the cat, and my man too, got the shivers from this noise. Since then, we have been researching the different sounds that these cats make, and we absolutely know, without a doubt, that we have now heard the Blue mountains panther! I used to walk alone in the bush round here all the time, but I must admit, I am a little spooked, even though I'm sure it wouldn't attack a person; this is what all the wise old bush people and the WIRES people reckon, and I believe them. Maybe a small child but not an adult. I'd love to see the panther, but not on my own!

Working as a courier about three years ago, one of my journeys took me into the High Peak area of Darbyshire. I had left the market town of Bamford and was waiting at the junction of the A57 next to the Ladybower reservoir, facing the wooded hillside opposite where I was waiting, a movement on the hillside caught my attention. The hillside must have been approx half a mile away but even at that distance I spotted what I can only describe as a cat-like creature. It was all black, and I would estimate its length including the tail to be in excess of three metres. From just below the ridge, it moved with the motion of a cat after its prey. I observed this creature for some two minutes until it disappeared into really heavy undergrowth. I only wish I had had someone with me to witness, or a camera to have recorded the sighting. Are these big cats common in the High Peak? I would appreciate any replies, or similar sightings.

Interesting stories about big cats in Wales. My wife and I visited the UK in May 2006 (including Wales) and unfortunately didn't see anything strange. If you are ever visiting the US, may I suggest visiting Colorado or the western part of the US? You may get to see a Mountain Lion (also known as a Puma or Cougar), bears, deer, and elk. In fact, Fremont County Colorado has one of the largest concentrations of Mountain Lions in the state. But even then a sighting of one is extremely rare.

In 2000 I was driving my children to school along the A55. We left the A55 at the Flint Mountain/Northop junction. Black Cats. Who knows exactly what animal may be prawling our nights, or even days? The puma or Courga? The Pantha? There isn't any certain records stating of the real existance of this dark creature. Yet, one thing should be stated. No matter where you go in this world, no matter who you interrogate, there is not such thing as a Black Puma - Maybe dark brown and when seen at night can be assumed as 'black' - But alas, not such Puma exists. A Pantha, yes. It is possible to have seen a Black Pantha. Possibly not in most parts of Britain, but, possible. The thing is, there ARE records of Pumas, panthas and EVEN lions being found wild in Britain. In 1973, A lion tamer named Leslie Maiden, released a Pantha and Courga near Sheffield. There are many more sightings and accounts of Large Cats being released, do some research! However, I would like to state one thing AGAIN, which in my previouse post on this forum was taken as a joke. Due to urbanization, Cougar ranges increasingly overlap with areas inhabited by humans, especially in areas with large populations of deer. Attacks on humans are rare!

My cat was neither large nor black. He was a marmalade coloured cat named Chip. He was our much loved friend and companion for several years. When we went to live in Australia we gave him for safe keeping into the care of our neighbour over the back fence to be a companion for her cat. I cried all the way to London on the train for love of my cat. For years I had a recurring dream. I was wandering in the dark in my nightwear around my English garden trying to find my cat who was mewing pitifully. I would wake from the dream in tears. However, one night, years later, while dreaming, I found my cat! He came to me up the familiar garden path and rubbed himself against my legs in an ecstacy of re-union. I picked him up in my arms and cuddled him, rubbing my head against his fur. I woke and could still feel the warmth and weight of him in my arms. A few days later I received an email from my neighbour. Chip had died peacefully in his sleep. I haven't had that re-occuring dream since.

I was at work at a dairy farm near Denbigh, it was 5am and I was collecting the cows from the field for milking, the light was poor from the tractor I was in. As I reached the far end of the field I noticed a long black shape moving rapidly along the fence line. As the light hit it it looked towards me before it leapt over the fence from a standstill. I drove to the fence but the cat had gone. I have no doubt it was a panther as it was large and its tail was around a metre long. As I arrived back in the parlour the cows were on edge and uneasy but no wounds were detected. I have not seen the thing after.

With all these stories of sightings, do most people actually know what a big cat looks like? If so and all these stories are true then we have a major problem! It means that there are more big cats out there than we think and that can only mean sooner or later we humans will be on the big cats' menu! I think not! I personally think they do exsist, but I also think some are telling porkie pies which is a big shame for those of us who do take this subject for real! So come on you lot out there get real. THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE.

I haven't personally seen the big cat in Leeswood, but a friend of mine told me she had seen it whilst walking her two terriers in the woods, this was around 2002. I was apt to believe her as she has owned lots of cats over the years and would surely know the difference. Apparently, it was sitting on a wall not too far ahead of her.

I have seen no less than 3 big cats in East Anglia. Anyone who thinks I am blind or stupid is 100% wrong. I am fed up of hearing people say there is no big cats because they haven't seen one.

We have seen a panther-like figure in our field in Bagillt, near Flint, and have heard a loud noise coming from outside. We have two dogs and they seem to bark a lot at night around about 3am and we live surrounded by fields and there is a large wood not far from our house.

A few friends and I were walking home from the nearby town of St Andrews about 3 miles from where I stay in Strathkinness, anyway we were walking along the road when we heard a loud sort of growl/snarl, before we knew it we were about 20-25 ft away from this black cat approx 1.5-2.5ft tall with a body about 1.25 meters n a tail of about 1meter, it just looked right at us and walked off, it didn't even seem bothered about us.

one night me and my friend were out hunting up cwmorthin quarry on our way down we 'lamped' the side of the road near a place called (llyn cwn) because we new there might be a fox there but when we put the lamp on we saw a set of eyes on a bank so we crossed this river to get a better look when we got closer my friend put the lamp back on in the same place and i couldnt belive my eyes, it was a big cat siting down just looking down at us it was about 1 and a half meters tall and black with a tale about a metre long we were so scared we ran all the way down to the village where there was light. i told an other friend of mine about it and he knew of someone who saw the same thing in the same place and there was plenty of others there that saw it too so we couldnt have been seeing things.

I have, in the last 2 days, sighted a creature that seemed to be the size and shape of a panther. I live in Farndon near Wrexham. I was walking through a field on my way home from school at around 4pm 22.11.06 and the creature seemed to be following me at a distance of about 7 metres. I started running and it kept pace with me. I threw sticks at it and eventually it turned and walked slowly away.

11/22/06 me and my cousin were going out to play basketball and as we went out we looked out into his field beyond his hoop and we thought we saw a dog in his yard but once we looked closer we realized it was some kind of panther or black cougar or something, it was like a big black cat. It looked straight at us and I called for it to come but it just crawled back into the woods on the edge of the field, I've never seen anything like it before.

The black cat is a black cat, neither more nor less. Excitement will have to be generated in some other manner. Just look at the distances involved in the reports attached here. The cat must be capable of very high speed or there are packs of the beasts prowling, growling and running all over the country probably munching livestock and the odd person. No, I don't think so.

Right firstly pumas or cougars are NOT BLACK! What you are seeing is either a melanistic leopard or jaguar, however that is very unlikely...you probably have seen a large tomcat. So called "evidence" of big cat kills actually point towards canines not felines, which have totally different killing styles. As well as pug marks and paw marks also point towards canids being the culprit. I find it very hard to believe a handful of people with no experience of seeing big cats, all cats have the same basic design, they all look the same, big or small (though their weight are placed in different areas - for big cats they are more heavily set obviously than the sleeker smaller cats). The idea of a big cat in Britain roaming wild is VERY unlikely!

re. the Big Black Cat!
I've just read the report in the paper tonight - it ties in with a sighting of what seems to be the same animal. About 6 weeks ago I was looking out of the bedroom window in the early hours and I saw what looked like a HUGE black cat with an exeptionally long tail. It was on our patio area and then moved off round the side of the house. It sure was no ordinary moggie! I did tell my husband and daughter of it next day - they remember the incident well. It was in the countryside around Golly.

I have heared that there have been sightings of large black cats in my area. As a person who is experienced in the bush, I seek to put hard evidence on such sightings. My friend was out fox shooting one evening with spot lights. He had one of these cats in the sights of his gun. It was his 4th sighting in the past 10 years. Anyway he told me that he couldn't bring himself to pulling the trigger. As a boy my father and his best mate would go out after dingo pups by raiding their dens. So why not put the effort in and spend time (perhaps it may take some years) to find a den where these cats have their kittens, then at the right time, take one or two before they open their eyes then rare them up. What a pet he would become. Then skeptics would have nothing to say except admire their beauty. Any takers out there? Consider it as a challenge. Look for their prints, track them down to their nesting place because they would have to have some place of security. Please do not go alone and try to avoid killing their parents.

Okay, I'm going to make a few points about the big black cat. It's what most people call a Puma. And yes, it does exist! Yet, I'm getting fed up with people all over Britain saying they've seen it. No, they haven't. The only puma that exists in Britain (the wild, that is) lives in Gloucestershire. Why? Because in 1997, they transported some pumas from a country (don't know what it's called) to go to a zoo. Unfortunately, it escaped. Well, it either escaped or was stolen; no-one really knows. So, yes, it exists. But, not in like Essex or something, Jesus... Now, I believe I've seen it, I'm not going to say definite, because I don't even know if it's alive to this day... that's why I did my research. But, that was like, 5 years ago now. I think I saw it running across a large field, running through a flock of birds and then jumping over a fence (and it jumped very HIGH!). So yeah, that's my life story. Oh yeah, another thing. All us humans tend to think that pumas are dangerous. Note: They are only dangerous in self defence, pumas will not just attack humans for food or for fun, we're too large. They go for sheep or foxes or birds. But, advice, if a puma does attack you in any way (not saying it will), DON'T TURN AROUND AND RUN AWAY! It is too fast and will jump and bite you around the neck and basically kill you instantly. What you need to do, is make yourself as large as possible, stretch out your coat or something like that; then, make as much loud noise as you can.

Why can't a puma or cougar be there? They are everywhere! They live in my backyard. It's called migration. What is this "creature" just exceptionally special or something? Like blacker or longer so than it's spooky now. Someone needs to focus on getting the freaking burmese pythons out of the jungle here that people buy and just "let loose" ...THOSE things are dangerous. Lock up your small children, pets...they are a danger to anyone sleeping outside and alligators! Or you could release them over there, and THEY can keep those pesky panthers under control. So, you guys have panthers now, OK!

Has anyone noticed that about the same time these big black cats spring up in various parts of the world. Same thing happened with the Yeti, bigfoot etc in the 1950's. As for people keeping big cats as pets, it is extremely dangerous and difficult to keep them.

Couldn't have been a panther if it just walked away - they are vicious. If this guy got pursued by a black panther while doing his school project I can guarantee that he wouldn't have lived to write his 'account'. There is, however, a panther (maybe 2) in Flint, in the fields surrounding the Richard Gwyn high school. Trails have been found, huge footprints (much larger than a pet's) noises at night that sound almost human, flattened grass, huge holes through hedges - you name it. But that don't get a mention.

While out looking for lost dog 8.30pm 19/11/05 was using a lamp and a big cat was seen less than 100 yards from my daughter. It was black, approx 3ft tall sitting down. It growled, stood up and hissed loudly, could see by now that the tail was about 1 metre long, started walking towards her, so she got back in the truck. This was witnessed by another person. The dog hasn't been found yet. We will go back in daylight. Will look for prints and take a camera and tape measure and hopefully find the dog safe and sound.

My mate and I were lamping one night recently in the hills, when as I shone the lamp across the field a large black cat like creature came into view, with orangy/reddish eyes. That very moment it started bounding across the field directly at us, coming at great speed. However not far from us it went into a ditch and disappeared. Both of us were 100% sure that this was some sort of panther, we have hunted for many years and have seen numerous creatures, deer, fox, polecats etc but nothing like this!!!

I live in Australia and my sister and I have seen something like this, we were on a walk to this other town and as we crossed this small bridge a HUGE black thing tore past us and ran into the bush. There's also supposed to be something called the lithgow panther and there have been sightings around here, and in Kenthurst there has been a picture taken of a mysterious feline spotted in a back yard. Because the mountains is so remote it would be easy for a creature like this to discreetly wander around and not be captured and I continue to look for it.

Yes, my friend also saw one of these big cats. He was slowing the car down to go around a bend in a minor road when this 'cat' walked alongside the car and disappeared into the hedge. He said it was black and as big as a leopard. That was'nt the only sighting of the animal that week. The local newspaper reported more sightings. He was also worried by what people would say about his sighting and very reluctanctly spoke about it...after reading about other people's sightings!

If you want to see a black panther go to Wolf Mountain. That's above Llangwyfan and you will see one there. It must be a very windy and damp night, usually sitting out in the bracken opposite the car park. Strong lamp needed to see his full physique. I think he is a stray from a zoo. There must be a reason for him staying around the same spot. He is a male and sometimes looks distressed.

There is definitely some sort of large black cat wandering the countryside. I am very close friends with many people who have spotted these animals around my local area of Pembrokeshire, from them strolling through fields, to leaping in front of people and leaping away. There are many stories...and I was a large sceptic until I actually saw this large cat like creature. It was about 3.30 in the morning, and I was woken by this rather weird crying/wailing type noise, which I found to be coming from our pet cat. So as I went outside to see if he was ok, I could see this large black cat crouching on the side of the road in front of our house, with our pet cat frozen making this crying/wailing noise, it looked as if it was a stand off between this large cat and our pet cat, obviously our pet cat was petrified and it seemed as though he was shouting for help. But as soon as I turned off our outside light the big cat ran off...
Not so big now...don't mess with my cat!
I got light!

Having lived in the Derbyshire Dales for the last 12 years,I have seen Pumas in the fields adjacent to the High Peak trail, these cats I believe have been released into the wild, when they have become to difficult to control as pets!.I have lived in the Ffynnongroyw area for the last couple of years and to my surprise I saw on the Talacre marsh area, what was undoubtedly a Puma, whilst it was caught offguard, and disappeared from view very quickly it did not appear to be unduly alarmed by my presence.
Sightings of these cats is not unusual in the area around the high peak district, and if anyone cares to check with the rangers who patrol this area they will find that numerous sightings will be recorded in their logs.Another source which supports my submission are the columns of the Matlock Mercury.

I am a two time big cat witness and a three time UFO witness (and I consider myself VERY lucky). Not once have I ever gone forward with the claims apart from a very brief e-mail to the abc (alien big cats) group. The first sighting was when I was only 13, it was also very brief and even I can't say that I 100% definitely saw a large cat on that occasion but whatever it was certainly didn't walk like a dog or other native animal that I know of. The second encounter was about 20 miles from the original encounter and I was 21 when this happened. Driving past a large cornfield (the only nice places around here to look at to be honest) and we got caught in traffic, I looked across at the field and thought that I saw a fox. There were three other people in the car and as I noticed that this was not a fox I pointed it out and all four of us knew that we had just seen a very large cat, well, not the largest of the cats but bigger than the average tom that's for sure. I will happily go as far as to identify the species as well, there is no doubt in my mind that we all saw an adult Cougar (Felis concolor I believe). Have we got 'Alien Big Cats' living in our country? There's no doubt in my mind and to be honest they'll be here to stay until we go on yet another human rampage of destruction. And contrary to popular belief, our environment is more than ideal for these creatures, remember it's humans' fault that we no longer have bears, wolves and Lynx on our land.

About 5 years ago I got up around 4.30am as I normally do. I walked downstairs and opened my patio curtains. As I did that, sitting right in front of the patio was a huge black animal. It looked like a black leopard to me. It just sat there for a couple of seconds and it looked at me and I looked at it and with just one leap it jumped straight over a 4.5 metre fence. I told my wife about it and she said that a few weeks before that night she heard something violently rummaging through the trees behind the garden. Was it a panther? I don't know but it is surely something I have never seen before.
