Thanks Ashley for that info. I have spoken to a few people that have seen it - very spooky. I walk down there quite often but have yet to see anything but it is always just getting dark about 6-6.30pm when they have seen it.

In reply to the stories from Nant Mill, Bersham, and the man sitting with his head in his hands, reminds me of a story I heard when I was a kid. The bridge is called Tudors' bridge (apparently) and goes back 100 years or so when a local man named Tudor was driving his horse & cart to market but on nearing the bridge he lost control and crashed instantly killing himself and his horse and the tales were that he haunted the bridge from then on! Makes you think, eh? Also, I myself had a 'weird' experience just last month when having a wash at the bathroom sink. I suddenly realised I was standing at a peculiar angle and when I realised I just said to myself, "Oh, it's because of the person standing next to me" quite calmly. It was only when I told my boyfriend a few days later that it dawned on me how strange it was!

I live in a converted barn in Coedpoeth and have had a few unexplained things happen. One day my partner was in the kitchen and thought she saw something out of the corner of her eye, but there was nothing there. But the dogs followed something across the kitchen to the other door. Also, we hear a lot of sounds like footsteps and banging from upstairs and twice now the double glazed back door has opened and the last time it opened then slammed shut. Also, when I was in the computer room someone rattled the latch on the door and minutes later moved the extension lead behind me - and everyone in the house was asleep.

I lived in the Academy in Holt for 5 years, 10 years ago, although it is still in the family, there are tenants in there at the moment. Many strange things happened in there. From the taps in the bathroom turning on to singing in the bedroom. My father in law joined in one evening and said it was beautiful. Friends came to stay and always slept in the lounge because they didn't like the feeling in the bedrooms. We do know the history of the Academy but would be interested in any other known experiences.

I lived in Hurst Newton from my birth until I sold it in the 80s. There were no ghosts. It was a friendly and captivating house with lots of noises and creaks and shook when the trains passed by.

My mum and sister have lived in our house for 15 years nearly and I've seen and heard a women crying in my room. We believe she's one of 4 or 5 ghosts in our house and although we have had the house blessed at least 2 ghosts remain. I've had something I could see but couldn't make out what it was. It just looked like a shimmer in the air but could feel it whenever it came close because it touched my arm and it went numb. I couldn't stop shaking and it followed me around my house for hours. My younger sister has been woken up by a man screamimg in her ear to 'get out of the house' when there was no-one there. We don't know any history on the house and if anyone knows of any hauntings or history of the Queens Park area please can you let me know.

A few years ago about 2002..one night me and a few of my mates was walking around Wrexham and thought we'd go in to the cemetery. It was about half one-two in the morning,. Anyway we all climbed the fence and all sat on the bench in the middle of the place, keeping quiet we were listning to the sounds. In the background we heard a sound that was like someone rustling through the grass so we all ran out and back over the fence. As we was daring eachother to go back in only me an a girl that we was with noticed a blue light in the middle where we were sitting just above the bench. The light was going up then back down slowly and just hovered over the bench where we sat. We knew it wasn't a flare, it was too small to be one. Just then all the car alarms and a house alarm whent beserk and we just ran like the wind and I aint gone back since. We all don't know what happened but could it been someone telling us to leave them in peace.

Hi Anth, Wrexham. I used to work at Plas Rhosnesni care home and had many strange encounters always in the side corridor (this would be the corridor facing the school opposite). Things would touch you, you would hear your name being whispered (not by residents). Two women in particular would be petrified going into their rooms and would talk about a man wearing a hat and tie standing in the room called Johnny.

Andy from Bersham
Stephen from Prestatyn, I, also lived in 2 Y Ddoll (Pear Tree Cottage) as a youngster. From the age of nine to 22. When me and my sister (I know it's my sister and I, not in Wrexham though!) first moved in with mum and dad, strange things started happening. Having come from a very modern house at a very early age in the suburb of Borras, we were well gobsmacked at the place. Half of the house was stone built in the 1600s and that is the half that mum decided we were going to sleep in. First of all there was "The drip". My sister, sharp as a tack 5 years my senior and twice as psychic, noticed it first. When walking under doorways, or at least on occasion where there once were, me and my sister were persistently confronted with, "The drip". Mum and dad couldn't see it which I found baffling. It was plainly a huge drip of dark, almost crimson liquid heading straight for your face as you passed beneath the door (bearing in mind the walls were 2 feet thick). That was just a novelty compared to bedtime. Our bedroom doors were old style and they had the old press-down latches. When it was all dark and I was just about to parachute jump into proper full-on sleep, as young boys do, my sister's door would rattle slightly. Oh, I used to think, that's just my sister, and then I would hear "it". If you can imagine a lady in bare feet, creeping, steadily and slowly, she seems to be wearing lots of petticoats, her dress is heavy and quite noisy in the dark silence. I would close my eyes and pull my blankets over my head. I was scared, unmistakably, extremely awake. My door latch would rattle, just enough to let me know. I would be silent and wait briefly, then someone would sit at the bottom of my bed. Not roughly, but tenderly as if to see me safe to sleep. And it would always put me to sleep. I left home and travelled about a bit and after a year away I came home back to Wales. I spent my first night back at my parents and slept in my bed. Having not experienced this apparition for very many years I had quite happily put it to bed, 'scuse the pun. However as I lay on that bed in Pear Tree Cottage that night she came back. She rattled the latch and I remember feeling so happy, I waited in anticipation, someone sat down I could feel them heavy on the end of the bed. Older, braver, I decided this time I was going to get a sneak peek at her (I'm sure it's a her). I remember hesitating for a very enjoyable minute, I could still feel the weight of a fully grown adult there inches away from my feet. I remember thinking, what if it's Freddy Kruger? What if it's Satan? S+d it I thought, I pulled the covers back, nothing. No one to be seen. Spooky house that, made even spookier when the local fortune teller was concerned that my sister could see blood in the walls.

Has anyone seen the man wearing a black cape or cloak on or by Nant Mill bridge? I have spoke to a few locals that have witnessed the same person. I was told that a man had killed himself there many years ago.

I showed my partner a photo of lead miners from Minera and she said the man she had seen in the Nant was wearing similar clothes. Could he be one of the unfortunate men that lost their lives down the mine? It could have been his normal route to work through the Nant to the City lead mines.

One day whilst fishing down 'Biniki' with my mate and his dad, something really scary happened. Whilst my mate, Andy, was trying to cross the river me and his dad were telling him which way to cross. My rod was on the side of the bank and it started rattling and moving. The hook was hooked onto one of the eyes of the rod and there was a tight line. What made me look was the float was moving and rattling against the rod. The rod was moving quite violently, like someone had kicked it. Even Andy's dad took notice to it then just stared at me and said, 'what the hell was that?!' It had moved about 1 ft or more. There was no wind that day and even if there was it would not have disturbed the fishing rod in that way.

Like Rob's friend, my son has also seen a gentleman in old clothes at The Ford in Nant Mill. He was fishing late one evening last summer when he turned to notice a man in old clothes resting his chin on his hands sitting opposite to him. He spoke and asked the man if he was ok but the man did not reply. My son then turned away looked back a moment later and he was gone. He had a clear view of the path and surrounding area and there was no one to be seen. This frightened the life out of him and he ran to a nearby house but there was no reply. He then waited by the house until I picked him up some time later. He was terrified and swears he will never go there again.

I have just rented an attic room in Talbot Road, Wrexham. I put my photos up, a large white blur, rounded and strangely shaped has appeared at the bottom of one photo, it wasn't there when I got home but appeared while I was reading on my bed! I woke up after an awful night's sleep and my necklace was on the bed next to me, it was on the dressing table when I went to bed! I am not a big believer in ghost stories but I know this is for real and would like some advice?!

There's a lot on here about haunted houses and roads, but not much about shops. I work in a shop on Regent Street that I reckon has a resident spook. I'm often left alone to tidy up on the floor when we've closed and several times I've seen someone out of the corner of my eye. I usually feel as though they are standing near me before I see them. It's not particularly scary, almost a calm friendly feeling. I told my boss and he reckons there could be something to this as the buildings are really old. Not sure who it is, perhaps an old customer who's come back to see what's new? Either way I'm not a ghost-magnet, so it's unusual for me to sense this stuff.

Rob, Coedpoeth
My partner was walking down by the white Ford in the Nant Mill area of Coedpoeth in the early '90s and saw a man sitting on a rock resting his chin on his hands. He was wearing old fashioned clothes, waistcoat, etc, and she did not want to go past on her own so turned around to wait for her parents and when she looked back he was nowhere to be seen - and the path was clearly visible.

I was born in Pear Tree Cottage, Bersham, known as 2 The Ddol until comparatively recently. I lived there 11 years and my mother and sisters about 18 years and we were never visited by anyone unless they came in through the door, usually knocking first. The only experience I ever had was when I was upstairs and heard my name called from downstairs. On going down there was no one near and all denied calling me.

I am interested in hearing from anyone who knows anything about the history of Hurst Newton Hostel on Bersham Rd. I lived there about 12 years ago and experienced an unexplainable event that had also happened to another resident. As I was explaining the story to her, she finished the story for me, telling me that it had also happened to her. I will not give any details of the story here yet, as I am interested in other people's experiences to see how they compare.

I used to be a regular in The Cross Keys in Rhos up until it recently closed. Many a night after hours strange noises could be heard and people often think that they have seen a reflection of a girl in the mirror in the ladies' toilets.

I remember that story in the 'paper about Plas Teg, I went a long time ago - when the owner was renovating it - with an amateur photographer friend of mine and asked if we could take photos. I can tell you I hated some of the rooms but the place I felt most uncomfortable was by the well. Spooky place.

Regarding the young girl who is supposed to haunt Wrexham Training's [Rhostyllen] toilets. I've cleaned them, nothing ever happened - but the door used to close in the cubicle like someone was saying 'get out'. Many many stories about there.

I was doing a course at Wrexham Training college last year, when I heard heavy breathing and my name being whispered in the ladies' toilets but there was no one in there at the time just me. Cleaners have left the college due to sightings. You get whispers and murmurs through the corridors. The spirit is meant to be a young girl. Does anybody know any history about this area? I was in rocky woods with my cousin David going to try out his new climbing harness. As soon as we got into the woods it just felt damp and cold as the air in the woods normally does. But as David and I crossed the bridge he said someone was hanging from it. I asked 'how do you mean', he replied that he seen an arm and hand holding on, kind of coming over the side as if someone was lowering themself down or climbing back up. We both heard a loud splash so ran to the side where David said he seen the arm. We looked over and although the water had clearly been disturbed there was no one there and on further inspection nobody was under the bridge either. Anyway this was just weird and we where a bit freaked by it but carried on about trying out the new harness. It wasn't until we where in the Black Lion pub about 2 weeks later speaking to an old chap about the woods and what the cliffs there where from (apparently old sandstone quarries), he mentioned about the bridge. He said the bridge was nick named Devil's Bridge and it was a notorious suicide spot in the 18th Century. Well, it proper sent shivers down our spines and his when we told him what we'd seen. Anyone who knows the bridge though also knows it's not all that high so whether the river (Afon Eitha) was deeper 300 or more years ago I don't know, or perhaps people hung themselves from the bridge. People always tend to kill themselves in similar places. Anyway, it was a bit scary so thought I would share it with you all so you know to stay away from the sides of the bridge when you cross!

Hello my name is Lauren I am 11 years old and live in Wrexham. I watch a lot of Most Haunted at night. I've seen things at the corner of my eye. I've heard stuff which I don't want to hear. I've been on one ghost tour round Chester, we took some photos and what I think is an orb. I believe in ghosts, UFOs. My house is very old and I feel like someone's watching me. My dog looks at the landing for no apparent reason when nobody is up there, that's when I get scared.

I used to live in Rhostyllen about ten years ago. My friend used to live in the top pub known as the new Black Horse. there were many sightings of a man there wearing an old trilby hat. I never actually saw him but I used to feel like I was being watched when I went to go to the toilet upstairs. It's been knocked down now and there's a new row of houses been built. I would like to know if anyone else had any experiences there or if anyone knows what it was before it was built? I know the houses are not selling very well.

M Bee, I used to work in the Rollers, Southsea and have witnessed the glasses swinging, also on the odd occasion jump off the shelf and smash into little bits (these being big heavy glasses falling from the bottom shelf that would normally bounce)! Also sitting on the chair at the end of the bar I and others have felt someone tap me on the shoulder to turn around and no-one be close enough to touch you. The pub has recently been refurbished and I haven't felt anything weird in there - yet!

We had a bwgan that lived in a hole near the road between Manafon and New Mills (now in Powis). Manafon was C of E and New Mills was 'chapel'. He never bothered us so long as we ran past which we always did. Once we summed up courage and went to have a look at the hole. We found loose soil that slipped dangerously down a steep slope into the river far below. There was just a patch of darkness where something may have been. We left it alone and never went back. I wonder if the children of today still agree to meet at the bwgan's hole. Every kid knew where it was. Today I wonder how many of these holes were the dwellings of old soldiers who came back half mad from Jerusalem or Crimea to find nothing and nobody waiting for them and gave rise to these tales. Knowing what I know now... Mel

I used to live in the Cross Key as a child. When we first moved there weird stuff went on. I had a little job just cleaning up in the morning but this morning I never went down to do it. Later my dad told me that I had done a good job cleaning up but how did I get the keys? Whoever it was had put the letters on the top of the stairs and made a cup of tea. Also, dragging noises across the landing and a cold spot at the top of the stairs were the wood beam is. I saw a white face in the kitchen. An old man that use to drink in the Keys told me that a young woman used to clean there many years ago and that she fell down the stairs and broke her neck, died straight away. If this is true I'll never know.

I worked in a shop, (Burtons) on Hope Street ten years ago and I worked there for 5 years. The stockroom on the top floor is an old bingo hall. When I worked there I absolutley hated going to switch the lights off at the end of the evening as I always felt like I wasn't on my own up there. I always hated coming down the stairs as I felt I wasn't alone. Freaky. It was always cold, even in the middle of summer. Although I never saw a thing upstairs, there was many a time when working on my own on the top floor when you could see something, like a a shadow at the back of the shop, but when you looked again - there was nothing there!

I work a shop in Hope St, Wrexham, and have experienced many things from doors bolting closed behind you, whistling, footsteps, electrical applicances turning on and off and once very load bangs against the office wall - don't know how I have stayed there 6 yrs! We have some history of the building and who it might be, but I would love to know. I'm a stong believer in the paranormal and my husband is able to sense things. I have done a few over night stays at Plas Teg with a paranormal group. On one occasion I went there in the wrong frame of mind and I paid for my lack of respect - I was pyschically attacked and had to be healed by the medium! I'm very interested in this subject and do not believe in the saying 'I will believe it when I see it' I think you have to 'believe to see it.' I have always believed since I was a child and the piano used to play in my parents' house, until we had a dog and then it stopped!

Has anybody had any experiance of the ghost of the Hanging Judge Jeffries at Acton Park? About 16 years ago on a still summer night I was sitting on the stone block in the middle of the stone circle and a white cold mist came from underneath the stone and chased me across the park. Has this happened to anybody else or am I going crazy. I have heard that it may be the ghost of Judge Jeffries but I would like to know if anybody else has experianced anything like this.

My 11 year old daughter and I were following the Lon Clwyedog trail from the Lead Mines at Minera towards the visitor centre at Nant Mill this afternoon (Dec 31st 2006). Having walked past the red stream and just into the visitor centre land we both distinctly heard the sound of what we thought was a steam railway engine echoing from across the river. We both stopped and looked but couldn't see anything and presumed that there was a railway track somewhere nearby that was running steam engines. But suddenly the sound stopped dead; it didn't fade away like you would expect if a train was rolling into the distance; nor did it sound like the engine was coming slowly to a halt; it just stopped dead as though someone had pressed the stop button on a tape recorder. This surprised both of us and made us speculate as to the cause. We soon came to the visitor centre at Nant Mill, and we called in and asked the nice lady in there if she knew of any railways in the area that might have been responsible for the noise. She said that as far as she knew there was nothing in the area although many years ago there was a kind of railway that used to transport ore for the various mines in the area... maybe the noise we heard was an echo from the past...?
