Goosed by a ghost!

office workers

Last updated: 28 May 2008

Contributor Richard talks about a phantom who keeps pinching office workers' bums in Rhyl. A similar incident has been reported in Babell!

"I used to do work for a company that occupied one of the many units available at Rhyl Railway Station and part of my job was to change the security tapes at the weekend. I used to vary my times of doing this so it meant sometimes going late at night.

Anyway, about 12 months ago I went in at about 11.30pm on the Saturday night and, after walking around the office, checking the windows, etc, I noticed it got quite chilly and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I also got the feeling that I wasn't alone.

Anyway, as I walked through the office one of the interview room doors suddenly closed shut on its own. I put this down to a possible draft and thought no more of it until a couple of weeks later when several of us were working in the office. I was sitting at a desk talking to two of my colleagues across the room and a female colleague was doing some filing in the cabinets behind me when she suddenly asked me what I wanted as she had felt someone touch her bum.

I explained to her that it wasn't me and the two colleagues confirmed that I hadn't moved from my seat.

This has since happened to a couple of other colleagues when, although there have been people in the room, nobody has been anywhere near to actually do it."

Myself and another person on a seperate occasion have seen a man standing in my sister's kitchen while she was in there. I saw him when I opened the letterbox of the front door when I called round one night. She has and more recently her partner been pinched on the bum while in the kitchen. When she was younger she worked in a haunted toy shop in Cotteridge, Birmingham. It was called King's Norton Cycles. She was alone upstairs (no other staff would go up there). She heard footsteps coming up the stairs. So she jumped out to make the person coming up jump. But no one was there.

I don't find it so hard to believe. If most guys (& some women) became ghosts why wouldn't they pinch an ass or two? In life you usually can't get away with it. If you're a ghost with a sense of humour, think about the fun he/she could have with that!

No laughing matter. Over the last 6 years on just 3 occasions I have had my bottom touched whilst laying in my bed alone. Quite unnerving and scary. Also, refering back to an earlier letter on this page, back in the late 70's I saw a hooded man at the end of my bed and, likewise, I was freaked out to such an extent that it stopped my dabbling with the occult as one can do in their teens and early 20s.

I've sat here for ages reading all these ghost stories, I'm totally convinced - I just don't understand how things that aren't really there can have an effect on the environment eg: moving furniture, being touched etc. I've never really had a proper ghost encounter, but I remember once waking up in the middle of the night to find a hooded figure at the end of my bed - it scared the pants off me, as it truely was out of the ordinary. I just hid under my sheet for like half an hour! I was too petrified to do anything else. After, I just looked up to find nothing. A bad dream perhaps.

I was at my mom's house and I felt someone feeling my butt so I turned around to slap someone's hand off and nobody was there. I had never told anyone about it then, a couple of years later, my brother also jokingly said that he felt something touching his butt at my mom's house. I don't think a nice spirt would do that. We have also seen and heard other things at that house. It doesn't sound so farfetched to me.

I have had same bum pinching ghost at Rhos. It happened one night about 11pm 18 years ago when we lived at Plas Madoc and used to walk along the line from Penycae to Rhos, coming out by the Talbot pub. We had been visting my hubby's parents and always walked that way home, but that night my bum was pinched from the second gate to the end of the Penycae golf course. Well I accused my hubby of playing a fool but realised my mistake, as his hands were full of shopping bags and couldn't posibly do it. Then my brother in law got the same the following week. I wonder if anyone else up in Rhos has had the bum pinching on the line? After that we took the longest way round and won't go anywhere near the place again.

Ghosts do seem to get frisky like this. I remember the landlord of the haunted Pwll Gwyn inn at Afonwen telling me that he felt a hand feeling his behind when he was in an upstairs room - he thought it was his wife after his wallet! But there was no-one there... The Pwll Gwyn supposedly stands on the site of an old hostel for pilgrims on the route to St Winefride's in Holywell. Its resident ghost is a monk who sits quietly in the dining room. I should point out that I was told this story in about 1990, so there may be a new landlord there now.

Two years ago we were camping in the woods near our house when suddenly we felt a cold chill and something grabbing at our ankles. All of a sudden it jerked Amanda to the ground by her hair. She said it didn't hurt.

I would say that if a ghost had nothing better to do it was a very sad, lonely individual indeed.

Yes I have heard of similar things. I used to live in a haunted house and on a number of occasions I was pinched or tapped on the bottom, not only me but other members of the family. The 'ghost or ghosts' also liked to tap us on the head!
