Here, Dave explains more about the visit and shares a copy of the strange photo.
I spent a week in Wrexham in October 2007 visiting friends and relatives in the area. It was one of the happiest weeks I have spent anywhere. I took 750 photos, many of old photographs of places and relatives. I took a night-time photo of Wrexham War Memorial and it has a strange smoky shape on it that I can't explain.
I was the only person standing within 100ft of the memorial and I don't smoke, nor was it cold enough for my breath to form steam. I have tried taking a photo with the camera strap in front of the lens and also with my finger in front of the lens, but nothing like the effect in this photo. I'm not saying it is a ghost, but as yet I have no other explanation.

If you look closely there is something coming through the gravestone, not sure what it is but they are looking for someone.

I think the picture and the other ones similar to this one could possibly be smoke. But I could be wrong.

I totally agree with Anthony Campbell! I think this is real.

As I took this photo, I can state most definitely that it was NOT cigarette smoke as I am fanatically anti-smoking and have never smoked in my life. I cannot rule out that it may have been steam from my fish and chips, but I wasn't aware of any at the time.

This has to be real if you look into the centre left it looks like a round ball you can't get that sort of effect with steam.

I am positive it is cigarette smoke, it even has that yellow-wish haze to it. I have photos which I took whilst smoking and it looks exactly the same, not the shape but in different shapes.

I think the mist in the picture is the steam from the food you have bought, even though it does seem spooky!

I took a picture of my dad at a wedding party just before Christmas on my digital camera, after taking the photo I scanned through them, only to find my dad had near enough exactly the same effect as your picture crossing over his face. I tried to get it to happen again taking about 30 more pictures, but no look. It was inside, no-one was smoking because of the smoking ban, no hot food around, no steam, nothing, very strange.

Im doing a photography course at the moment although I have practised for years and I think I can safely say this is definitely steam caused by breath or something hot close to the lens, spooky looking though

Put your cigarette down before taking a picture to avoid this effect.

It looks like cigarette smoke to me.

I seem to remember that when I took that photo I'd bought some fish and chips. Could it be possible that some steam from them hit the lens? It must have cleared though, because two seconds later I took another (clear) photo.
