My grandad died and I am seeing his ghost. It is always a man in a white suit but I am not scared because I know he is only checking I am safe and happy.

When I was 5, shortly after the death of my only grandad, me and my nan were walking to Mary's, a shop in Hardwick, Stockton. When I said, 'wait there, we have to wait for grandad he is just getting his coat!' after waiting with my nan for a minute or so, I grasped on to an invisible hand and began to walk talking to this figure who appeared to be my grandad. At that point I was unaware of his death, and thought 'heaven' was a shop or a holiday. On telling my mum she, my nan and my auntie burst out in tears of joy and sadness. I saw his spirit frequently after that until he finaly disappeared in 2005. Up until that point he would haunt my nan's house by turning the TV to horse racing or football, and lying with my nanna while she was in bed. I miss my grandad a lot and now and then feel his presence.

It was about 6 years ago my grandfather passed away, my 2 daughters aged 3 and 5 at the time complained about a man in their bedroom every night who would talk to them. I asked them if they knew the man and they said it was their grandad. I was shocked. I have always been a believer as I can pick things up sometimes. Anyway we said the girls could sleep on our floor in our bedroom for a few days to make them feel better. It was about 3.30 in the morning and I was awoken from my sleep by a tapping sound. I opened my eyes and I could see a dark figure of a man next to my wife's side of the bed. I just froze and after what seemed a few seconds it disappeared. We have had many things happen over the years from doors opening and closing to actual sightings. We have since moved from that property as my wife was too scared to live there any more. In our new house I have seen the last owner who died here a little old lady. We have also had running across a upstairs room when everyone in the house was in the lounge downstairs. I have no fear of ghosts as it is the living that will hurt you.

My grandad died two weeks before I was born and so obviously I had never met him in life but not so long ago my mum told about an experience I had when I was younger. Apparently, I have no recollection of this, when I was around 3 or 4 I saw him and told people in my family I had seen my grandad. They obviously thought it was my living grandad but when I saw a picture of my late grandad I had pointed out that it was him who I saw. My mum said she and everyone was quite taken aback but even now when I see a picture I feel a certain sort of weirdness like I know him.

When I was about 5 I used to complain to my mum about this man that wouldn't stop talking to me and that followed me everywhere. Mum asked me what he was saying so I told her and with that she revealed it was her grandad who had been dead for a long time just wanting to keep me company. She told me to tell him to leave me alone and that I didn't want to talk to him. And after that he never came again :-( My aunt, mum and nan all claim to have the ability to sense spirits. My aunt even saw my father flying around her living room the day after he passed!

My experience - I was with a clairvoyant a few years back who knew nothing about my life or the people in it, but asked me, 'who is Bill?' and to tell him he needs to look after himself. Twelve months later my dad died of cancer. I can't explain how or why this happened to me. I was lying in bed one night & the room was in complete darkness. I noticed small twinkling lights starting to appear at the end of my bed, they appeared to be getting bigger & I was little afraid, that's when the lights started to take shape. I thought I was a sleeping, thinking this is a nice feeling. Only then did I realise I was awake. I closed my eyes & opened them again. I said 'Dad, if that's you I am not ready to see you yet. Can you come back some other time?' Then the lights disappeared & the room was again plunged into darkness. That was almost six years ago but I still remember it like it was yesterday. My family have seen my Dad appear in their houses & we all live in different parts of the country. My mum sometimes feels him pulling up the bed covers to keep her warm & I feel him around me from time to time. I will catch his smell. After my experience I had a dream of my dad looking fit & healthy with a big smile on his face, telling me that he was OK & I didn't have to worry about him, as he walked off in to the light and I could see people waiting for him.

Hi Jack Jones. You were talking about the Swan pub in Connah's Quay. It's 3 years this month since it shut. I ran it for a while. I never felt anything myself but others have told me it is haunted by somebody called Mrs Houson supposed to be ex-landlady who fell down the cellar steps.

For some reason I would never go upstairs on my own and I would not get out of bed to turn off my light either, I had never been scared of the dark before but for some reason I was scared of my own room. Two years went by and at the age of 8 I decided to put up some new pictures on my wall. My father took the old pictures down and hung up the new ones. That night I was in my bed reading a book, when I heard a bang. I looked to the side of my bed where one of the new pictures had been hung up, there was nothing there. Then, before, my eyes the picture simply threw itself off the wall! It landed on the floor in the middle of my room before it was again picked up by something and thrown again even further. After being completely frozen with fear I then screamed. The next day my father put the picture back, but somehow it always managed to fall off the wall. In the end we gave up and just put the old pictures back that I had before.

I do believe, because a few months ago I lost my mum. I was lying in bed the night after the morning we lost her, I can remember breaking my heart, just lying there, all of a sudden, someone was stroking my forehead and pushing my hair back. It was deffo my mum, this is how she managed to get me to sleep when I was a kid, and she still did it even when I was in my late 20s when I was upset. I knew it was her hand because it was soft and I could smell her. A lot of sceptics would say that I wanted this to happen and that it is all in my mind, but no way, it was my mum, deffo.

I've seen a ghost in a bedroom since August 2005. This is in Normandy, France, at my grandmother's house which is now more than 300 years old. I always see it in the summer holidays (as my brother, mum and I go there every summer holiday). The house has been in the family for years so it must be haunted. I think it is my great great grandmother who died when she was 36 (she did look that age) she always looks angry when she sees me. I'm the only person to see it so no one else really believes me. I know I'm not imagining it because I remember being wide awake when I saw it. This year I have seen it 4 times. Altogether I have seen it 9 times. THIS IS TRUE - it always comes. Every since I first saw it I'm actually too scared to go upstairs at night as there's a spooky corridor in her house which I would never go. There are some rooms upstairs that really look haunted, there is also a big, old dining room with furniture that is just over 100 years old. It looks just like a big 19th Century dining room so it really looks haunted. I never really go there at night.

Until recently, the whole of our family were hearing ghostly footsteps in our attic very often between the hours of 10pm and 3am. These now seem to have quitened since my daughter claims that she has seen and spoken with our resident spook.

Watching a late film one night. My wife who was reading in bed started calling me from upstairs. I went to see why. She pointed to the end of the bed. On the opposite side she was on, at the bottom, there was a perfect dip in the quilt. She said she felt the bed move and as she looked, the dip just appeared as if someone had sat on the end of the bed. Whilst working on a PC late one night, the room I was in was suddenly filled with a blue haze and the strong smell of burning toast. Needless to say the toaster was off and cold. The cooker grill was off and cold.

My brother died suddenly about 3yrs ago. Since then weird things have happened in my house. Things go missing and move when I was just using things and I put them down turn around to pick it up and they have moved. I have heard things moving and scrapping across my floor upstairs. When I go up there to see (for instance), a picture that was put behind the boiler in a cupbard had been pulled out over the boiler and found upside down up against the door across the room. Spooky! I can smell his aftershave scent and smoke. I also have seen a white figure moving in the garden outside my patio doors.

I'm not afraid of ghosts but why do most of my pictures of John Lennon come off my wall? I had a really nice one of him up for over 2 yrs in my conservatory and it just suddenly fell and smashed. Can someone please tell me if it means anything when a photo or a pic falls.

We've only been in the house for a few months now, but ever since we went in the attic, strange noises have been heard. We've heard footsteps going up and down the stairs constantly. We've also heard someone giggling. Also opening the front door and slamming it. We've heard our fair share of bangs on the walls. It's quite scary, as we're only young.

A German friend told me when she was a child she lived with her sister, parents and elderly grandparents in the same house at Goddelau on the River Rhine (Hessen). Her Grandma was very old and ill and everyone though she would die, but without warning Grandpa died first. AS was usual in old Germany, after the funeral the two girls took it in turns to sleep with Grandma to keep her company. One night my friend's sister came downmstairs and said to her mum, "I don't want to sleep there any more 'cos Grandpa's there." Her mum said matter-of-factly, "it's nothing ! to worry about, just tell Grandpa you know he's come back to see how Grandma is, but your're frightened and you'd prefer it if he didn't come when you were there any more. And tell him we are all looking after Grandma". She did, and dead Grandpa changed his "visiting hours" as wasn't seen again. Knowing the person who told me this, I am convinced it really hapened.

My great grandmother died in 1978 at the age of 107. I was 5 years old then, but I knew what she looked like. A year after her death while I was playing hide and seek with my cousins I ran up stairs to hide and before I could get to the top I saw my great grandmother standing and smiling down at me. I ran down screamming "Gradma is upstairs!". During the mid '90s she then appeared to me in my dreams touching my face with her both hands and I saw once more her sweet smile.

I always remember after my old dog Sam died about 4/5 years ago now, I had a strange experience one night. He used to sleep by the back door, right next to the bin and sometimes he would scratch the bin accidentally but it would be quite a significant noise. One night not long after his passing, I remember watching American wrestling live on Sky (aired around 12 am-3am), and was really into it. I remember hearing the scratching noise, but kind of didn't think anything of it (which I usually would of considering the time it happened and my age back then). I just remember feeling extremely happy and comforted for about a minute after the noise, not scared or anxious at all. It wasn't until later that I realised what the sound was. I think that was my dog's way of saying goodbye.

After we had to have our elderly and rather poorly dog put down, a lot of strange things happened. That night I had a dream about my dog and she seemed much younger and healthier than she had been when we took her to the vets for the last time. I brushed this down to grief as I was extremely upset over her, but later on both myself and my mother would hear her distinctive bark, and a scratching at the back door. Our dog always used to do this when she wanted to be let in from the garden. Also we have seen light anomalies in the kitchen where the dog slept. The most startling aspect though is that one morning I actually saw her in my bedroom, and it gave me a great sense of peace knowing she was well again and still about. Spookily enough a few days to the year after we had her put down I was idly flicking through a supermarket magazine and came across a picture of a dog which was the complete spitting image of her!

I woke up because I needed the toilet and when I came back my grandad (who is dead) was sitting on my bed and he looked me in the eye. I was terrified but my dad had said he wouldn't hurt me.

In 2003 my friend committed suicide. Myself and all of my friends were beside ourselves with grief. At the funeral, one of my friend's dads saw my late friend sitting on the bench in the graveyard. I believe that he came to say goodbye to us all and to me that comforts me in thinking that while I was angry at him for doing this to his family and friends it was his time to leave us and he was just popping back to say sorry and goodbye.

The Swan pub in Connahs Quay is haunted. I went in there about 10 years ago and it was a warm summer, but when I went in there the temperature dropped very noticeably even though it was still roasting outside. I tried to read my paper but I couldn't concentrate because of loud banging and shouting in the other bar, but when I went to see what was going on there was no one there and the landlord was outside talking to a man with barrels on a wagon.I lived nearby and since it's been shut I have heard weird things like tapping on the old toilet windows when I passed them one evening about 1am and I put my ear to the sealed doors in June 2007 and heard what sounded like furniture moving and sometimes even hear footsteps or see lights flickering inside, even though it's all boarded up and empty. Another weird one was when I was walking home one windy evening and the sign outside the Swan was swinging in the wind squeaking as it always has, then suddenly the wind dropped and the sign stopped and there was silence for about 10 seconds then the wind started again and the sign swung. All the time the wind was stopped I could see dark shadows moving in the dark of the front Swan windows, I ran home that night.

Last December I went with friends to Beaumaris Gaol on a haunted event for Meningitis Trust. I was to my surprise followed around by a lady called kate as my emf meter kept going off. The kate connection was done by the medium that was with us and I have since discovered that Kate was my gran whom I only met once. Things always seem to happen in our house and I have discovered if I leave my emf meter on the floor in our kitchen the meter will stay quiet then all of a sudden it will bleep. I have checked it out and it definitely is a spirit that is causing the reader to bleep. My middle daughter is special needs and will sometimes laugh and she seems to be seeing someone and following their movements. As she cannot talk she cant tell me who she sees.

My girlfriend's father died only last week. When she went to the flat he was living a week after the funeral, she experienced the letterbox being rattled (no-one outside) and then the bedroom door being slammed shut and a feeling of intense cold!

I was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience of doors slamming. After my wife died I went back to her mum's house and all the doors slammed at once. My mum said when her dad died all the doors slammed. That morning I saw the Pope's funeral on TV and a gust of wind blew all the other bishop's hats off over the casket of the dead Pope. It seems as if the spirit seems to be leaving the body and the weather on all these occasions was calm and sunny. I would be grateful if anyone could tell me if they have had similar experiences.

I always ask my father for help when I have a problem or have lost something and I always solve my problems. Two weeks a go I lost my purse. My family searched the whole house to no avail. That night I asked my dad where is my purse. In the morning I woke, went straight to my tumble dryer and there was my purse. My father died 2 yrs ago but I know like in life he will always be there for me.

Two years ago strange things started happening in my parents house. Firstly, at midnight one evening the mirror they had above the fireplace fell off the wall and smashed everywhere. A few weeks later another picture fell off the wall in the conservatory and broke. A day or 2 later, while my mother and I were in the kitchen a picture in the hall that had been there for years fell off the wall. About 2 weeks later my father had a minor brain hemorrhage while working away from home and we believe that each of these things was a warning to him. Nothing has fallen off the walls since!

My dad passed away last month and ever since then odd things have been happening. Firstly my dad always put the xmas tree up, this year he passed away just before xmas so I deceided to put them up, after I had finished I turned the TV off and went to go upstairs. I got to the top and heard a noise, I rushed back downstairs and found the TV had come back on. Also things in my house have moved from upstairs to downstairs over night. I have also come home from work and found my bedroom light on, and our house alarm started going off when we had people over for dinner by itself, and a few others things. I know it's my dad and didn't really believe in things of this nature beforehand but glad he's still about the house, a little comforting I think, even if my mum doesn't think so. How comes he is still around though, can anyone explain?!? Thx Jamie

I have never actually felt or sensed a ghost in my house, but a few weeks ago I was flicking through the pictures in my mobile phone with my mum when we came across a random picture taken off the settee. It looked like a wisp of smoke was coming from the settee. Does anyone out there think this is a ghost?
