Listen - 'Hold me close'
Rachel, who works as a paranormal assistant at Bodelwyddan Castle on ghost tours, shares a recording of a creepy sound she recorded on her phone.
From the noises I have heard and recorded, to the temperature drops and the strange scents, I am certan it is haunted! Sometimes it's quiet, sometimes it's active - the spirits come out when they choose!
We were holding one of our overnight vigils in Bodelwyddan Castle when I recorded the sound. We were waiting for a group to arrive and as my friend and I walked around the castle we began to feel uneasy as if something was waiting to happen. The public arrived at 9pm and, after the tour, we began our vigil. We entered the library and where busy talking when all eight of us heard a loud sigh which appeared to come from the door right next to us.
It was unexplainable. It couldn't have been any of the group as we were all on the opposite side of the doorway. After we had calmed each other down, I decided to switch on the recording device on my phone in the hope I would record a voice like we had heard earlier. We stayed in the library but nothing else happend so I stopped recording.
However, I sent the recording to an EVP expert and he used his software to pick out a voice saying 'Hold me close' which we hadn't heard at the time. We had a lot of unexplained responses that night as well as the sound of music and faint voices. It has to be one of the scariest nights in the castle for me.

Well I am 12 and about 3 weeks ago I was sitting in my grandad's garden and I was looking at the birds and right next to me someone breathed in my ear just once and my ear went freezing cold. I went inside and I felt someone was watching me and I looked behind me and in the glass door there was a little girl floating with no feet, a dark figure just came over her like covered her and she had gone. Then, the next day I was in the garden and the same thing happened - someone breathed in to my ear. Then I went inside and I told my mum - I was shaking. My mum got her phone out and started recording. I had to get out of the house. Later, when we played it back on the phone there was a voice saying 'mummy'. I have heard and seen loads of things in my grandad's house.

Hi there. In addition to the voice that I got on my digital recorder last year, I have had a few more. Not so long ago I was calling to "the spirit", in fact I was almost shouting to it, "come on, give me a sign that you're here!" and the response that I got on playback was "You're deaf!" (My spirit has a sense of humour!) My youngest son called out one day and asked how old the spirit was and a little girl's voice answers "Eight!". The funniest one was when it answered "Blah, blah, blah!".

"SCARY! When are you most likely to hear these strange voices and possibly visits from the dead? I was born in Bodelwyddan and I used to live there, but I have never visited the castle itself (at least I don't think so), why is it so special?"
There is no specific or most likely time to here evp. In fact, you are more likely not to notice these voices by recording something unintentionally then listening back and hearing odd noises or voices.

Only ever felt someone watching you when you go to the was room and felt a great energy by the tower standing at the bottom of the stairs.

Hi there, I am the secretary of our local scout group and use a digital recorder during the meetings and transcribe the minutes later, at home. Just before our most recent meeting I was testing the recorder at home (I was alone at the time) and for the want of something better to say I said "Is there anyone here with me?" When I played the recording back there was an answer, quite clear, although a whisper, saying "help me!" This event alone has spurred me on to want to make other recordings....Wonder what or who I will get next time.

It sounded like "hold me please" at the beginning and "help me please" at the middle. First voice of a young lady and then a young mature male...

SCARY! When are you most likely to hear these strange voices and possibly visits from the dead? I was born in Bodelwyddan and I used to live there, but I have never visited the castle itself (at least I don't think so), why is it so special?

Yes, we have had numerous things happen since that recording, including loud bangs strange groans and sighing and people have been touched. A couple of months ago we had guest medium Ian Shillito visit us and we saw some amazing light anomalies. According to him, the best he has ever seen!

Have you had any more ghostly expieriences since? Any more voices caught on tape, stange sightings caught on camera? i Think Bodelwyddan Castle is scary, but not as scary (well, so I've heard)as PLAS TEG. Most people I know say it's the most haunted place in Wales! I only live maybe 3 or 4 minutes away. I am so glad I don't live next to it!

At the time the only staff on was myself and another member of our team. We where doing a vigil with 8 members of the public. We where the only people in the house at the time and all 10 of us heard it.

Well, I was born down the road from Bodelwyddan, and strangely, I have never visited the place for myself, but I don't usually believe in programmes like Most Haunted, but when they went to Bodelwyddan it was different. I believe that it is one of the most haunted places in Britain. Question, do you have any more proof that the voice you heard was a ghost, I mean apart from the people who work there?

I went 2 a VW show in the summer. I go every year and camp out on the fields of Bodelwyddan Castle. I have never exerienced anything, then again the beer tent is really loud and now I come to mention it it does feel kinda creepy!

It's difficult to make out whether it is saying...'hold me close' 'hold me please'or 'help me please' - is that another drawn out 'please' at the end of the recording...?
The voice sounds either either like an English rural or South London accent to me, not Welsh.
It seems that during WWI, the grounds were used for trench warfare training...and the castle was later used as a recuperation hospital.
There are also graves and a reference to some sort of mutiny there or men dying of an outbreak of influenza...
I wonder if the voice belongs to one of those men from WWI...?
