Beijing 2008 was Beverley's third Paralympic appearance throwing in the shot and discus, having featured in Sydney and Athens. In all three Games, she has finished just outside the medals. In Athens, her fourth place spot came in the shot and, in Sydney, she again finished fourth - this time in the 100m.
In Beijing, Beverley managed fifth in the shot, despite her determination, as shown in the Day Five Photos [picture14] from the BBC Paralympics coverage. In the discus she came eighth but was happy with her throwing.
Her team-mate, Deeside Athletics Club member
Rebecca Chin, 16, from Deganwy, was awarded a silver medal in the discus event, only to see the result overturned later after being re-classified.
Back in 2006, Beverley managed a podium position in Melbourne at the Commonwealth Games, grabbing bronze in the 100m. Other honours include gold in the shot, 100m and 200m at the CP World Championships in 2005. This hat-trick was followed up in the same year in Espoo at the European Athletics Championships where she claimed gold in the shot and 100m.
