Now you know! Anyway, genealogists used by the American TV show Inside the Actor's Studio discovered that Tom's great-great grandfather, Dylan Henry Mapother, emigrated from Flint, Flintshire, to Louisville Kentucky in 1850 when he was 16.
Tom was visibly stunned when he heard of his Welsh connection during the TV programme which first screened in 2004 - maybe he was as stunned as Russell Crowe was to learn he has links to Wrexham!
