Biography:

Mark returned to his old school, Ysgol Glan Clwyd, St Asaph, to a hero's welcome.

Meanwhile, Andrew Lloyd Webber popped over to Towyn to visit St Mary's Church because, apart from music, his other passion is church architecture and he'd heard it was a must see while he was in the area.

The pair came to North Wales in January 2009 to film Mark visiting his family and old haunts for the show, Eurovision Your Country Needs You, to find the UK's entry for the 2009 Eurovision song contest. Mark finished third.

Mark first found a taste for performing whilst a schoolboy, firstly singing in Welsh [he's fluent] in traditional Welsh competitions [eisteddfodau].

He continued performing through his teens both on stage at Ysgol Glan Clwyd and Theatr Elwy, St Asaph, and with Adele Mead's School of Dance in Denbigh, before finishing his studies in London where he now lives and works.

Today he lists his credits as playing Troy Bolton, the lead role in the UK stage version of High School Musical.

And he's also performed with Kylie, Will Young, Gareth Gates, Liberty X, Westlife, Ronan Keating, Pavarotti, Gloria Esteffan, Anastacia, Bryn Terfel, Charlotte Church, Katie Melua, Michael Ball and Basil Brush!

Away from the spotlight he's a qualified teacher and a jazz and tap choreographer. He also helped to set up 'West End In Wales', a summer stage school at Theatr Elwy, St Asaph.

His proud parents are Sue and Myfyr, a sheep farmer at Llanrhaeadr, near Denbigh.

Lord Webber has mentiioned time and time again that River Dance started at the Eurovision Contest and the success of Lulu. What he did not say was that many talented people have been humiliated at this event simply because they represented the UK and have been lost in obscurity ever since. Mark, you have been saved from this - it was never a platform for progress. You are talented and were miles ahead of the other contestants with regard to a future solid careeer in entertainment. We have many female singers and really have no room for them at the present time unless they are opera stars of the highest order. Take heart Mark, you have been saved a possible fate worse than death in that most Eurovision winners have been lost in oblivion. Good luck and get on with your life and career.

You were robbed Mark! Your performance was excellent - so professional and polished. I enjoyed it so much. You will certainly go far in another direction. The British public has no taste.....!
