Famous For:
First beat bobby to learn Polish to help migrant workers and families in Wrexham
Biography:
PC Keith Sinclair was honoured in the national Community Police Officer of the Year Award for his work with Polish nationals moving to the area.

Based in Wrexham, PC Sinclair learned Polish in his own time and visited the country at his own expense to learn more and then printed cards in Polish with his mobile telephone number to encourage members of the community to contact him.

As a result, PC Sinclair has submitted more than 100 intelligence reports and has also identified a number of people with links to organised crime in Poland.

Until November 2006, he was the only Polish speaker on the division which came at a time when a debate raged whether North Wales Police should use Polish police officers due to the rising number of Polish people living and working locally.

It's said that about 8,000 Poles work in the Wrexham area and there are others who work in the industiral areas of Flintshire.

PC Sinclair came second in the 2006 community policing category in Jane's Police Review Gala Awards named after the national police magazine.
